Fallen Branch into Awesome vase that holds water!

This is a Vase made from a fallen Cherry branch. This vase can also hold water!
Hi if it’s not a problem could you list all the tools you used to make these and also with these woodworking tools other things can definitely be made with using them as well correct ? I’m very new to this and I’m very very interested in getting into this myself
Why didn't follow the wood grain (of the veneer) when you applied the stain?
Had been trying to figure out which jig to build for miter spline. Just completed the spline for a box on a table saw. Thought it works, the set up takes a bit of time. I'll built this jig.
Good job
I would have liked to see gilding in the carvings. Highlights all that detail!!
Loved it great work
Did you stain it, and if you did, what color and brand? I loved the video.
Stacking the denim for the second ring was a great idea. Look at the beautiful wave patterns in that ring! How much are rings for larger fingers? My ring finger is 9cm/90mm around
Send me and email, beerdedwoodworker@gmail.com
For those suggesting Circa 1850, that only works if he’s in Canada unfortunately.
Legos: not a word.
boooooooo
It was good to see that you didn’t edit out the mishaps and well done for finishing it. As I’m sure you now know, don’t use household bleach on furniture. Either use a dedicated two part wood bleach or oxalic acid, but read and follow the safety precautions carefully.
Need different pulls on bottom drawer. Single pull shows "real" holes.
Buen trabajo gracias por decirnos el paso a paso saludos desde morelia mexico. Gracias 😊😅😅😅😅
Beautiful restoration. One question: On a piece that old, should the paint be tested for lead content? I do not restore furniture, but enjoy watching videos of those who do, and I’ve often seen older pieces being tested for lead paint. Again, you did a beautiful job on this piece.
how much could refinished chest like that cost aproximately
Why did you use waxed paper? Plastic wrap is much better, it stays closed because it clings to itself and provides an air proof covering, waxed paper does not.
Just an FYI... I have the same chest, and the lock and seal on this chest has a recall for kids hiding in the chest and not surviving. I'm pretty sure you can actually still get the updated and safe Lane lock for this chest from the recall.
Congratulations on the beautiful work. Imagine if the creator of the work could see your work? He would be very happy to see that there are people who are careful and loving about what they do. I hope you continue this beautiful work. A hug from Minas Gerais- Brazil.
Use more of whatever you are using for sure!!
Maybe a sand blaster?
You need a stronger dtripper
What stain color did you use?????
I believe it was red chestnut from minwax
@@beerdedwoodworker Thanks! You did a great job!!!!
What grit sandpaper did you use initially?
220 on the entire thing. Did not want to use a lower grit and sand through the veneer
What grit of sandpaper did you use?
I used 220 on the entire thing. I did not want to put any deep scratches in the veneer with lower grit sandpaper
Love my biscuit jointer (for what it is/does) but this adds more meaning to it's life haha. Easier than using the table saw but the table saw allows for deeper splines. I am going to use your idea and subscribe!
Thank you for the awesome comment!!
Beautiful
Great job 😊
Sandblaster
Wow I love it!!
The spine doesn't look very deep. Looks great as a decorative item but probably doesn't provide mich strength
The biscuit joiner I have cuts (and I assume most are the same) 5/8” deep at its largest setting. This depth of cut works for 1/2” stock and less. This is a jig you would use for box’s and thinner stock projects. For applications like that, the splines would give enough strength
The paint looks too thin for stripper, maybe just scraping
Great idea. Throwing away my plans for a more complicated jig. Like this one much better.
What was the size depth did you use??? 10 or 20???? I going to try this method using a 2 x 1 roof Barton as a picture frame and would like to know which depth to use. Thanks in advance
I used the 20 setting. I believe that is the deepest cut that it does. And thanks for the comment!!
Use more paint stripper.
Great, good job! 👍 I made also some rings from Eucalyptus wood.
Thank you. I bet your ring turned out great!!
How much did you charge them for the job?
Nothing, this was for my mother.
Hey, glad YT recommended your channel to me! I think some parts of the video need to be sped up, like those with clamping or applying tape. Especially at the beginning, where fresh viewer is most easily discouraged. There is some mic noise very obvious at the beginning. You can use a denoiser ( eg RTX voice is awesome) and add light background music to cover it up. Best of luck!
Thank you for all the information, it really helps, I appreciate it!!
Классно! 😊
LIBERAL application of stripper is recommended. Painting it on like paint was part of the problem, IMHO. 😊
Hi there, beautiful rings, I was very intrigued when I saw the title of your video and you didn't disappoint. I like the look of the bigger ring, it almost looks like burl wood....Take care....cheers !!!
Thank you!!!
You need to use more paint stripper. Put on a thick coat. Painting on a little bit will just dry before it has time to loosen/activate the paint. I've used the orange stripper and that has worked for me.
Your Mom owes you big time😉
I have a 1947 Lane chest and i would loe to know if there isa way to possibly scuff the interior to bring back the cedar smell ?
I’m not sure but that’s worth a try. Get at least a 220 grit sanding sponge and sand with the grain.
Dangerous chest. It locks when closed. If a child gets inside they can't get out ....simular to old refrigerators and freezers. Contact Lane for a replacement lock mechanism. Recalled item.
I usually use heat gun to remove majority of paint then use Smart Strip from Dumond Chemical
Turned out beautifully ❤
That turned out pretty dope.
Its absolutely beautiful.
Hello from Greece. it would be much better , for you , to use 15 minutes Quick Spripper. You have to apply a thick coat of it and lett it work for about 15-20 min. Then with a flexy putty knife you can remove all the paint or old finish. For better results you can use a plastic wrap and cover it as it works. My best wishes for health and great , upcoming , projects.
I love this. I wish you shared the sandpaper grit you used and the type of wood. I tried making a ring out of a fallen branch in my yard and each one snapped apart. i just threw them all way. Maybe it wasnt dead enough. I'm not sure
Also adding all thre glues, etc would be amazing. honestly this is the first wood shaving video that I have watched that I felt more comfortable doing this method .
