YES -SOUTH SIDE OF THE SKY- REACTION
You have to hear the studio version bro…
I think you’ll like Primus, Tommy the cat ,, wicked bass Primus loves Rush.
Change in tone is the Bass guitar has a switch to alter which pickups are used (or mixed in studio?), like with how some six string guitars do? Yea man, this whole band are all legendary. I'm one of those super crazy fans for over 40 years already. It really warms my heart watching many reactions to their music by people new to hooking up with Rush! My next recommendation is to do By-Tor and the Snow Dog which is another story song that I know that you'll dig man! Enjoy Rush, the Rush family welcomes you, brother. Peace on earth and goodwill toward all men. Merry Christmas & Holidays and Happy New Year!
Of probably the half dozen times I heard them perform this song live, I remember Jon once saying that he wrote this song as a meditation. Chris picked up the potential for the song and proclaimed that it needed more rock ‘n’ roll added to it.. so it is a back-and-forth battle between the quiet meditative state, and a jamming rock anthem. It resolves both beautifully.
another dark story like this is Queensryche's "No Sanctuary" an awesome story and song. And of course BlueOysterCult's "Black Blade" based on Micheal Moorecock's Elric saga. Elric and his sentient demonic sword tell the story of the hapless eternal Cosmic Champion of the Lords of Chaos.
Canadian legends. They are the first band I ever saw live (late 1970’s).🤯. Drummer Peart (RIP) is the GOAT.
They shredded the shit out of that spell!😎🤣🤘🔥🔥🔥
You got it.
Wait til he finds out the bassist, keyboardist and the singer are the same person! And it’s a trio and not four or five musicians!!!!
"Hey man....this is DOPE!!" Yup, thats exactly what spawned this Lol
Ferrari Barchetta
I LOVE this guy. Every video, he just listens a few seconds and then BAM!!!!!!!!! he casually picks up his bass and does Geddy Lee riffs LIKE IT'S NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! You rock Church Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to listen to Clockwork Angels. The entire album is FIRE. Rush's only concept album front to back
Headlong Flight?
Headlong Flight?
As many here seem to agree with, Alex Lifeson is one of the best guitarists around. He is on very few, if any, top 5 Greatest Guitarist lists. The thing he does, making beautiful sounds that perfectly express what the lyrics, drum and bass are saying, is the best I have ever heard by anyone and he did it with this band for 41 years. He ALWAYS serves the music, not himself. Thanks for your reaction, CB!
Rush- Camera Eye
In Jazz Ensemble class from the past I remember- "The Rhythm Section" = Bass, Drums, Keyboard.
Great Rush song rarely heard! As a 40+ yr. Rush listener, I emphatically enjoy your reactions!
Geddy's tone STARTS with the way he hammers those strings. He is widely known for how hard he hits his strings. He was a big Rickenbacker guy in their first few albums. He later made his way through a few basses on records but it always started with how hard he plucked without using a pick.
This song is super classic
🤔 Looking to see if you've done 🥁 'Neil Peart Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt'. 😏 That would answer A LOT about why he is called #TheProfessor. The camera work is insane. Plus you get to see the double peddle drum work. 🎄☃️ Happy Holidays! 🖖🏿🥰🐰
🎄☃️ Happy Holidays! Glad you finally got to Necromancer! 🖖🏿🥰🐰
The Rotisseries, dryers, and vending machines all started as a joke. Geddy eventually quit playing through stacks of speakers and i believe started playing through the PA. Since Alex still used his stacks and Geddy didn't, he felt the stage looked lopsided so he filled up the space behind him with the dryers and stuff as a joke to balance out the stage.
Wrong drummer you want bruford
Studio
Church Boy said it! 👍🙏❤️
Incredible, you captured the meaning of this masterpiece very well, it is an infinite journey of man through the ups and downs of his life and in the end he conquers his spiritual peace and freedom. Yes is a legendary band, synonymous with complexity, virtuosity and musicianship for its time! I congratulate you for such a brilliant reaction!
And when they picked Neil up, on the road, opened for kiss in akron, during the tour they wrote this album, 3 weeks in the studio, cut it, done, damn.
Best live band ever
Thanks for reviewing RUSH, my favorite band. Three great musicians that didn't get the recognition they deserved because they "rocked" the system. That makes them all the much better.
No one touches Yes
Was it Iron Maiden's, Bruce Dickinson? Probably not, but nice to think about.
No I'm just a fan of maiden and rush
Im a huge Rush fan since 1978 I love that you enjoy reacting to these Rush, but with respect to everyone involved they didnt have too many songs on their first 2 albums with neil, only a few like, lakeside park, fly by night,in the end, anthem, bastille day,no one at the bridge,a couple more, but all in all they made much better songs from a farewell to kings onwards to clockwork angels IMHO,Thanks for helping to spread the Rush gospel they inspired me a lot!
Wow, another obscur track! I love it, keep them coming!
Definitely a transitional song from their early Zeppelin and British Blues influenced early early stuff and into the more Progressive elements they will become known for. This is not a song that you hear in the reaction circles very often
I love the earlier Rush. I’ve only seen them live once on the Vapor Trails tour. The Necromancer is one of my favorite rush tunes; but, I have to say this would be impossible to play live as a 3 piece. I wonder if they’ve ever performed it live.
I’d really like to hear you review the next album (Signal). They were in my humble opinion at their very peak. “The Waepon” live is a masterpiece. Cheers , thanks for the review!
My favourite RUSH album of all time. Was not well received at the time and still not by many now...oh well we are all entitled to our opinions! Cheers
After the reference to By-Tor, you have to check out "By-Tor & the Snow Dog"...prepare for battle, let the fight begin!!!!
Best Rush reactions going on with Church Boy. Love your reactions. Plenty more to go.
Church Boy you have to listen to Steely Dan albums. Killer music.
The 3 Alex layers in the first part always blew me away.
Christopher Walken- SNL "I need more. More cow bell."
Thanks for enjoying Rush as much as we have - and for speaking up for Alex. It’s what many of us have been saying since the 70s. There was a time when it was so uncool to be a Rush fan. We stuck with them - now the whole world loves them. Keep rocking bro 🤘
No less than Tom Hanks disrespects all bass players in his movie, "That Thing You Do" , when all of the musicians have names EXCEPT the bass player who is simply named, "T B Player". Chaps my hide everytime I think about it - has anybody heard of Paul McCartney? Hello?
Love your reactions! More Rush please
Wow, deeeeeeepppp dive, not the mots popular album. Love that 3rd part with the Alex long solo! Great review, as always!
And just a note, that's Neil's voice doing the talking. This album is just pure classic.....
When they are going ham and playing fast represents the "battle". They did this same concept on Bytor and the Snowdog on the previous album to this one. They were definitely in a conceptual experimental phase. Bytor, Necromancer and Fountain of Lamneth all were learning experiments leading up to the epic 2112 opus.
