Dan Hawkins (The Darkness) 2012 Guitar Rig Part 2
A close look at the amplifiers and FX belonging to Dan Hawkins of The Darkness, in preparation for the band's return to live work in 2015. The only audio source available was the camera mic, so apologies for the quality in the final couple of minutes.

A little bit crowded upstage of the stage set, barely any room for fat roadies- although one seems to have made it. Judas Priest/Black Label Society/Thin Lizzy, USA 2011

A close look at the touring guitars belonging to Dan Hawkins of The Darkness, in preparation for the band's return to live work in 2015.
Jimmy Page had his custom replica untill at least 2011. He pkayed it at the Zep Reunion in 2008 and at the Royal Albert Hall with Donovon in 2011 . Its a 2008 not a 2003.
Jimmy Pages les Paul custom including the replicas didn't have a fat 50s neck . His custom is a 1960 with a slim taper neck which is also what the Replicas had .
The Jimmy page black beauty replica was done in 2008 not 2003. In 2003 Gibson built a replica of Jimmy Pages number 1 1959 les Paul standard .
Tore out T tops for 490s . Ridiculous .
12:53 Old mates voice gets close Must have been a good mic My park bench jumped beneath me Strong voice
What guitar straps are you using?
Puntastic
July comes after June... It is younger..
I watched this with my noise cancelling headphones and all I can hear is the cameraman breathing heavily into the microphone haha
Like his brother they love Les Paul guitar
In some respects, the 2000 LP is now the vintage du nos jours. The Darkness are a breath of fresh air. Yes, there is humour, but the music is seriously good.
Late to the party as usual, but I thought the same thing here in 2022, that pretty Les Paul IS vintage indeed. I've always enjoyed the Marshall/Les Paul kickass tone that the Darkness has, just the way huge, badass rock should sound. Yes, seriously good is definitely what the music is!
El34 in all of them?
01:53 he named it 'Dune', after the David Lynch sci-fi movie - also the tail piece and bridge aren't stock - they're Tonepros
No they're not.
@@wodenoftheangles3339 Dan confirmed they are in the Premier Guitar interview a few years before this, unless they were changed again...
@@Jamesfoofighter This was the Lady Gaga rig. The Premier Guitar rig rundown is from the following tour.
Saw the blue flashes around back. Bit of a show from the tubes.
Thanks for the great vids on the gear. Found it interesting. Bought a 498t pickup after watching it.
Yes I know Dan had a Jimmy Page signature model , and it is the one he used on the Jool Holland’s show back in 2003.... ain’t ?? Awesome video thank you .
The Jimmy Page Signature custom didn't exist unitll 2008 and Jimm Page had it untill 2013 and also it was Justin who ended up with the Page guitar.
Number Les Paul looks a lot like the Jimmy Page Les Paul .... amazing Gibson looks million bucks ....
i had no idea Adrian Vines was the tech for Dan, now i know and i'd say he does a pretty good job with the tech work
Anyone else bothered that the top drawer doesn’t shut properly???
Yes, me.
well i am now
why no body talk about the speakers he is using in this cabc !!!!!!
i think it is mentioned in another video, they do use greenbacks
Les Paul Classic w/ tell-tale green block neck inlays.
sound sucks...
The tech looks like the tech for Richie Faulkner.
Correct.
In a brand new rig rundown on Premier Guitar, Dan himself calls it "Dune," after the David Lynch movie. So is it June, or Dune??
Dune
Djune
and that it was a gift from justin - not purchased by Daniel
I noticed all the bridges are back to front, except the gold top!?
very nice the n. 2... seems like my R8 vos plain top... but the n. 2 isn't identical to n. 1.. for ex. the knowbs are different.. too nice on the n. 2
Last thing we hear arpund very expensive equipment.....BANG ! SHIT!....
Anywhere I can read the schematics, how it's wired up and such? ... Please
you're a god. thank you so much!
This guy doesn't like Dan's jokes
thats some setup. Some of its a bit nuts for me but nearly all of those sounds are epic. great vid
One thing I've always been curious about: when guitarists have a rig like this (both complex and expensive), do they bring along an exact replica of the entire rig? The chance for catastrophic failure in front of a large audience, while likely minute, would be frightening. I wonder if having a backup is something that is frequently done by guitarists. I suppose its all based on risk preference...
When you get to a certain level, yes, having backups for everything is common place. For example, Brian May of queen has 9 Vox AC30s that he takes with him on tour, i think he's only ever using three at one time though. Angus Young has a couple of backup Marshall SLP amps incase any of his main amps go down aswell. But when you're only playing small venues, you'll generally only have one or two amps total with you at a gig because more often than not, you're the one having to carry it all and set it all up.
Guitar PORN!!
Do he likes Les Paul?
No, I presume, that Gibson guitars are his favourite label. ;-)
Pure gold!! Thank you Adi. I'm looking to build up a rack system myself. Where do I even start?
TDGinge Saving up some cash. Doing it properly isn't cheap!
TDGinge your comment is 4 years old, so have you built your rack yet mate?
Do you have a Part 2 with all the pedals and amps?
