Hello Tris, I watched and enjoyed your content. Unfortunately, not every fans liked this abominable alien romulus movie and part of me wants this movie to fail financially but didn't because the mythology and storyline makes zero sense and contradicts everything we fans know and love in the first two films. Unless they are bringing back Neill Blomkamp to make Alien 5 reboot which was cancelled years ago, i am done with the franchise and i don't like where it is going. How is this abominable alien romulus and upcoming sequel (if it happens) going to lead to James Cameron's Aliens? Continuity Error If you watched the first two films (Alien 1979 & Aliens 1986) again, you will notice the errors and mistakes made in alien romulus they don't want you to notice and here's the evidence to prove both Ridley Scott ruined alien franchise (bad prequels) and Fede Alvarez ruined the franchise through this abominable movie below ruclips.net/video/voIlaC8gjXc/видео.htmlsi=_ttEEH00Yc6pq3jV ruclips.net/p/PLX5yXOVJBh4e1FXb1gWM-BgPAv3mdHZDd&si=GHtL4vV1AIodeWCH
Genuine Question, what were the continuity errors? I've seen a few people say that one of the them was the alien exploded at the end of the first movie, which when i went back to watch the first one again just before i saw the new one, the alien didn't exploded and just got pushed away from the ship.
I hope that the Dune: Messiah movie shows us the Spacing Guild Navigator who plays a part in the conspiracy against Paul. I think he’ll look similar to the aliens from Arrival, and deliver on the ‘fish-man’ descriptions that the book gives us.
I have some thoughts! Here they are in no particular order. The writing: First things first, I really appreciated the writing in this show. There's a lot of modern shows that will tell, not show. Instead, this sprinkled breadcrumbs and allowed the actors to play out the scenes in a way that let us just observe them and understand from there. Theres really no downside to doing it that way. If the viewer picks up on the clues initially, they feel smart for figuring it out. If they dont catch it, its mind blowing when the reveal happens. It also gives you the opportunity to review the episodes and have an easier time spotting the breadcrumbs. Maximus: I was a bit conflicted with him throughout my first watch of the season. After rewatches though, it started to click for me. Thinking about where he started, he was separated from his family by the destruction of Shady Sands. So he lost his family and home, and was raised by the Brotherhood of Steel, a hybrid militaristic religious cult. His socialization is absolute garbage. We see this when we we're introduced to him being treated like an outcast, even within the Brotherhood. Hes not a particularly good student, as we see him incorrectly guess the technology based on the diagram. Hes basically a little boy playing at being a knight. At the same time, hes trying to survive any way he can. So what IS Maximus good at? I think if I had to guess his SPECIAL build, he would be mostly Endurance and Strength, maybe a little perception. We've seen him make some great shots when hes holding a pistol. The Yao Guai, the 2 Fiends, were both good shots. Put him in the power armor, and hes clumsy. Fumbles his gun in the fight against The Ghoul, gets his foot stuck, misses all his shots against the Gulper. And as for Luck, its just not on his side. The season ended with him torn between two worlds. A possible future where he could live the peaceful life of a vault dweller, or a harsh life as a Knight in the Brotherhood. Thaddius: I didnt like him at first, but he really started to grow into his own character. At first, he seems like a weak, overeager little bully, but as we peel back the layers, we find that hes just trying to make the best of a bad situation too. But hes smarter about it, but only insofar as he deflects the hazing to others he thinks he can get away with picking on. As we've seen, hes not a particularly good shot, hes not particularly strong. Hes got a little more charisma in the form of being willing to attempt to intimidate to get his way (We see this in his bullying of the other aspirants, and in his interaction with the chicken f*cker). Deeeeeeefinitely not particularly lucky though, but he does at least have a bit of a moral compass. As for leaving CX404 behind, thats one of those morally grey decisions. If The Ghoul hadnt come along, leaving Dogmeat in the chest freezer would have been a death sentence. At the same time, it was clear that Dogmeat was going to follow the head no matter what, so it was really the only option to stop it without directly hurting it. Still, not his finest moment. Feel free to consider his ghoulification as karmic retribution. Vault 4: Surprisingly, not that bad! Granted, they were performing ethically wretched experiments, but they ended up getting wiped out by the results of those experiments. The descendants of the test subjects ended up using the vault for its stated purpose, and creating a safe society within it, free from VaultTec's influence. Damage done, but it could have been worse if the original plan stayed intact. Cooper's Family: This is just speculation, but I hope they fill in some of the gaps of The Ghoul's life, what happened between him and his wife, and what happened to his daughter. Its implied that his wife and daughter may be alive somewhere, which tells me that he may have gotten his daughter back to his wife. Did he drop his daughter off at a vault his wife told him to? Was he denied entry? Was he separated from them some other way and hes just hoping that they're still out there? I'm curious to see how they explain it or if they'll just leave it to our imaginations. If I had to take a guess, the day Cooper was doing the birthday party, he was just having visitation with his daughter and took her with to the party out of necessity. He was getting ready to leave the party when the bombs fell, so maybe he was running behind on whatever time Barb expected her daughter back. Maybe VaultTec pushed up the time table and dropped them sooner than she expected. Either way, I think Cooper got his daughter back to Barb, but was separated from them somehow. I think if he knew the location to the vault they were supposed to be in, he would have sieged it himself trying to get back to them.
Movie was much better than i thought! I kinda went in like ehh but it surprised me lol. The cat was such a nice highlight. Great review!
Idk like I’m always going to be happy with more hunger games books/films. The book was much better but the film was really underwhelming and so meh
The original director should have done this film.
Late to the party, as usual... My take on Maximus is that he's our "torn between worlds" character. Experience has conditioned him to the "every man for himself, survive however you can" mindset, but his heart holds a romantic fantasy of being the heroic knight who rescues small children from the ashes of destruction. Every time he has to make a decision, these worlds war within him. And he's not very good at choosing. Nor is he very good at being either of those two things when he does choose. And to complicate matters, he has the Brotherhood trying to pull him back and turn him into an automaton, or worse, a weaponized monster. I've watched the show over and over, and that's the best I can come up with for Maximus. Whether that's right or not, I feel like the writing surrounding him was weaker than the other two main characters. Maybe if that had been improved, we'd know for certain what his role and arc are meant to be.
I hope his story can be a bit stronger in the next season, because there is so much there to explore. He has so much potential to be a wildcard
I feel like snow's entire arc in that movie could've fit somehow in one of the earlier movies as his character was introduced, like I don't think it's pointless as is but I believe we already had a background on snow's character and his motives from the previous movies for this movie to be completely pointless but regardless i still enjoyed the movie and it did touch on other important plot points like how someone's environment can shape their biases and thus their actions through snow's villain arc
I still think Snow having his own limited series would’ve been interesting for the world building alone. His story is pretty basic, but how he influenced the world to be what we see in Hunger Games would’ve been fascinating
As someone in the opposite boat (I haven’t seen the movie and I hardly remember the first ones, but I’ve read all the books multiple times) tbosbs is my favorite so far, and I’m surprised to see people saying that they really didn’t like Sejanus! His black and white view of the world might seem annoying at first, but imagine you’re only 17 and you’re told that you have to mentor someone you went to elementary school with through a death match while you sit comfortably at home knowing your father funded the war that helped to subjugate an entire continent by providing them with weapons and ammunition manufacturing. I think anybody would go crazy. And then he finally thinks he has a friend like him, who has the same extremely strong moral compass and opposes all of this and wants out just as badly, only to be stabbed in the back and hanged because of it. As someone with a right/wrong black and white kind of moral compass myself, I think I’d also probably have extreme emotional reactions and I’d probably behave just as impulsively out of desperation. Like breaking into the arena, to give somone their proper last rights/send off, since they had to die so far from home and their parents won’t be able to do it for them. He’s just a kid who wants to do right and doesn’t know how. I mean who really has that great of forethought and impulse control at 17? As for the tributes, I think this book really does a great job at showing how they really are just kids and would rather help each other than fight. Like Reaper, who apologizes for having to kill the other tributes to win before ever getting into the arena, and how he lines up their bodies and covers them out of respect. The way he wears the flag he tears down like a cape and runs with his arms out really just hones in that he is still a kid, regardless of how strong or dangerous in the arena he was. Or how Lamina(district 7 girl tribute) killed Marcus(district 2 tribute, same district Sejanus is from) out of mercy when they displayed his body hanging from shackles in the sun in the arena. The tributes are shown much more sympathetically here because we aren’t in the arena with them, and we can see that they really are just scared children who don’t want to die and definitely don’t really want to kill each other. They aren’t conditioned to hate each other yet, and it shows just how much the districts mentalities about the games have changed too. Also with the accent thing, district 12 is like Pennsylvania/West Virginia/Kentucky. It’s all Appalachia and as someone from there with family in all three states and has spent time on all three states, yeah they should all still have the accent and all of district 12 would sound like that, not just the covey. The movies messed that up lol. It’s a small detail, but still. It never would have been mentioned in the first hunger games because to Katnis they would sound like she does, but it is accurate that they all have an Appalachian accent. The only reason it’s brought up in songbirds and snakes is because Snow would have thought it was odd and new to him.
I need to read the book to wash away the disappointment that the movie left me because these little details that you say make sense and sound wonderfully explored. The movie was just lacking on certain details and focused on minor ones a bit too much.
Definitely not the best movie ever and it did feel rushed. BUT I think the cinematography of it wanted us to see the characters how snow sees the characters and how he feels about them. I think everything that is happening around him is so superficial because he doesn’t see anything with depth. Just like we never really know Lucy’s intentions during the whole film. We aren’t supposed to feel sympathy for the other characters because snow doesn’t. I think the film wasn’t just doing a book to film adaptation page to page, it’s about how it makes you feel about snow.
There was a lack to me with the cinematography. The angles used specifically used to subconsciously disconnect you from the character which is fine with supporting characters like Lucy but Snow needed a bit more personalization. At least to me. And I would’ve loved to see the camera be his inner monologue and focusing on details that he notices. To me, it would’ve added so much more depth and exploration into Snow’s mind.
Valid opinion! I guess your major problem is with the film directing. I have to disagree about the story being pointless. The themes revolve around propaganda, submission power systems and how you’re shaped by the environment you live in. It’s so interesting to see how the games became so popular and normalized, it’s actually a response to a Gale question in the first film “what if people just don’t watch them?” There’s a lot of stories nowadays that were erased from history books and I wouldn’t treat them as pointless. The repercussions of this book on the others may seem little, but they show how in this 64 years the Capitol tries to erase any form of cultural significance from the districts. There’s no music anymore in Disctrict 12, which is a strong form of political expression and a way of uniting people (how Lucy and even Katniss did). There’s no lake of trips to the forest. No accent? Don’t know about that, not cannon in the books. The only way of entertainment is the Games. The games are also not a major point in this, cause the author won’t write books just to show the games, so that’s why you won’t connect with them like the others. I do agree with you about the characters (sejanus annoying as fuck lol), but the inner monologue coming from Snow is so good in the books. Unfortunately you lost some of that in the movie. I guess you’ll experience better if you read the book😊
To me, a lot of the messaging and world exploration was just lacking. The book definitely goes into more detail, I think with that kind of information and world building, a movie was just the wrong medium. I agree that there are a LOT of stories from history that disappear or aren’t as well known as they should be (I love history, I’m always studying) but I think that my disappointment with the movie just compounded into “why should I care about this story?” I definitely am disappointed in the directing, from details such as camera angles that subconsciously take you out of the ability to connect with characters, the pacing and focus on the games in the film where the book has you following just Snow, etc were just very blatant to me and frustrating. Thank you for the comment and the discussion! I really appreciate it 🤍
Underrated channel. I totally agree and was really disappointed in this particular movie. I dont see the hype.
Thank you so much for the compliment! And yeah, I went into this film really excited for the further exploration and then found myself insanely disappointed
I feel like it was good to have snow's background and why he has such plans
I liked having Snow’s background, I just think they could’ve done better
Thanks for the review! I've never considered the Hunger Games cycle as especially interesting, but watched them all and was willing to give this one a try if it appears on streaming. I think it looks like another (failed?) attempt to revive a franchise and sometimes maybe that is... not worth it. At least in this form. I agree that this could work as a mini series - fans of the HG would be more interested, it could build strong fundament for future ideas and in the era of streaming there is always some demand for such content. The creators wanted something more and it might be the biggest problem with the movie. Take care!
I find the inner workings of HG interesting, and I think the world could be so fascinating. I think there’s a lot of missed opportunity with making this into a movie. I think that the books do a good job but there could be so much explored with a third person pov in a show.
@@tristhebee I agree. Frankly the worldbuilding aspect is often the part which I find most fascinating even if a movie/show is rather weak. There are masterpieces which manage to deal with everything - from characters, plot, the world to special effectts and music such as both parts of Dune or the Expanse and Andor from more recent tv shows. I wish all such ideas well because a failed project is rarely because something was doomed from the start. There are at least some good ideas there and I hope HG will get something new deserving a praise.
It was a fun series! There are many nuclear weapons still available in this universe. Vault tec were very closely aligned with the government so it wouldn’t be difficult for them to find a bomb. Also the vault dwellers call Moldover and co raiders, but I’m not 100% sure on the actual answer… some might genuinely be, but others (generally the core members) would actually just be New California Republic soldiers. Also Re Maximus - I think it’s deliberate that he feels off… like you said he could easily become a horrible person especially given how ruthless he can be to get ahead, but I also think he wants to be good. A complex character who I suspect will have a bit of an opposite arc to Cooper’s
Interesting… that would be such a cool concept to explore the weapons and such that still exist in the world and the realization and horror that they’ve done this before not just to Shady Sands. I think you’re right about Maximus. In some ways I see them setting him up to be this hero for the show but I think it would be brilliant to instead watch him become somehow corrupted while Howard becomes more good. But also that’s just an idea I like, if they don’t go that route I’m hoping they go a route that’s just as fun or interesting.
Thaddeus is such a tough nut to crack. On one hand, he's just meh, on the other, he's so sweet >_>
I just can’t wait to see what he does next lol
I'm a long-time player of Fallout, ever since Bethesda took it over. I really appreciated that watching the show felt so much like playing a game. The visual representation of V.A.T.S. in the bridge standoff scene, the skeleton stories in vault 32, the out-of-pocket characters they all meet along the way.. just really well done. I really enjoyed your recap! Keep it up ^w^
Ah! I love all those Easter eggs! That’s so cool! And thank you so much 🤍
It was pretty good in my opinion some of it was cringe while the rest was amazing I enjoyed every bit of it I never liked the game but I enjoyed the show
I hope they keep improving upon the show and allow it to breathe ☺️
@@tristhebee so do i overall it was a good show hope Jessie from breaking bad is on there next season he wants to get a park and i think he would be a great addition to the show
no one told you? using the word cringe is now in and of itself .. cringe, its over used. dont feed the beast kid.
SALTBURN!!
I binged watched this show with my friend, and we absolutely loved it. And because of it, I got myself into the games, starting off with Fallout 4
That’s so fun! I’m sure the games are a blast. I’d love to play New Vegas
I like you loved the show so much you've added slightly longish recap of the season. I liked it too even I don't enjoy post-apo series and movies in general. With exceptions such as Mad Max Fury Road, which was... breathtaking. I agree that from three main characters Maximus seemed kinda worse. I enjoyed parts of his story such as the first interrogation scene with a power armoured monster just walking behind him or how much he enoyed life in the scientific vault. I hope that the series will be allowed to grow gradually, so it builds without shortcuts and jumping ahead. I also have no connection with the video games, but through cultural osmosis I've learnt a thing or too. Thanks for adding more details you've discovered while doing the research! Yes, Ella Purnells's Lucy wide eyed (literally! she has one of those faces) introduction to the setting and post-WW3 world was quite brilliant and that the actress played the games to understand the setting better was something I'd expect from other professionals involved in projects like this. Walton Goggins is the star of the show though in my opinion. There are some solid references to for example spaghetti westerns, some quite 1:1 from the more famous movies with Clint Eastwood, but he is a great character played very well in a setting he fits perfectly. I am also curious about his story from the time before the bombs dropped. Take care!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you connected with some of the things I said. I really do hope that the show continues to improve as it moves forward and it would be fantastic if they expanded and improved on the character of Maximus and even some of the others. I hope the studio doesn’t try to interfere too much while I also hope the writers and creators don’t begin to just take the story in places it shouldn’t. We shall wait and see!
I also want Dune 3 to be one of the greatest tragic love stories ever written for screen. Like Casablanca and Titanic. Him not knowing about the twins didn't make sense to me in the book.
I would LOVE that. I think it would be fantastic if they really focused on the romance and love story and made it so it was incredibly tragic. I think that would be fantastic and an excellent growth for the trilogy. About the twins: if I remember he just saw his daughter which falls into him not being the true Kwisatz Haderach like his son. Maybe it was vice versa and he saw the son not the daughter? Either or it plays into the fact that he was never the true prophecy, hence foreshadowing as to why he couldn’t stay with the Golden Path.
@@tristhebee Yes, exactly.
@@tristhebee Have you watched Dawson's Creek?
I haven't actually, that's something that is definitely on my list
@@tristhebee It's a masterpiece of a love story and great storytelling. Season (1-4). I call it The dark knight of romance. I want Dune 3 to have a similar sensibility not exactly because it's different but the raw emotion and melancholia always in the air and the lurking tragedy. Don't watch after season 4 because original writers intended to end on season 4 after it's a disastrous show on earth topping GOT.
I go back and forth about whether I like Midsommar or Hereditary better, but I definitely like Ari’s style.
Personally I like Midsommar better. I like the fact that it’s filmed like an indie film with absolutely no conventional horror look or scenes just a slow burning of unease
Try The Exorcist and Sinister and Mothmam Prophecies.
I adore the Exorcist. I’ll look into Sinister and Mothman, I’ve heard good things about the latter. I haven’t heard of Wicker Man but I’ll def check it out! Thank you so much!
Try the original wicker man.
Hi! For some reason I've missed this video so I watched it only a minute ago. To me personally the show was the FIRST encounter with the setting and the characters and I guess I've enjoyed it much, much more because of that - the world won me over I think and I tend to like the world building above other factors, at least initially. Your review was very helpful and made me realise a few things so thans for that. I agree with your notes, at least those I could fully appreciate as a person who had no contat with the setting before - it is crazy that the actors seemed to have more fun during the interviews than their characters in the series. I think I will rewatch the show before the second season is done and I hope the series will get better and not crash and burn like for example the Witcher. Take care! P.S. I have not seen Midsommer, so I will skip that video, but left a like anyway. I will eventually watch the movie and will return to see your video.
Ah! It’s so interesting to read your pov having not seen the original. I was a bit more bias because I am such a huge fan of the original but I did try to judge it as just a show. I think it has a nice base, I just hope they expand upon it and take in some of the critique. It would be downright tragic if they fell down the same path as the Witcher (I can’t even with that one). And thank you for the like with Midsommar! I hope you enjoy the film, I’ve noticed people either love it or hate it. Thank you so much for watching and this comment! It was very informative and I appreciated it a lot.
@@tristhebee I hope that the Avatar will get better. The fan base is a huge one and that alone should demand better effort. When it comes to Midsommar I am not really fond of horror movies, though I guess gothic horror like the Fall of the House of Usher was something I've enjoyed. I think I will give Midsommar a go eventually mainly because I've grown fond of Florence Pugh. After Dune I've realised I liked her work in every movie I've seen her (that is 6 by now) and I know that stories like Midsommar need a strong lead. Netflix Witcher is like a shared trauma by now. Misery likes company I suppose. I am not a huge fan of Sapkowski's writing, but I've read the books when they were released in early-mid 2000s in Poland and disappointment with the series encouraged me to re-read them after so many years. I know that others were pushed in this direction as well.
How do you only have like 60 subscribers!!?!?! This is amazing and great quality 😊
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! That is so kind 🤍
Good work with your first video. I've subscribed because at this point you will need all the support. I agree in general. When it comes to Chani I think she was such a non-character in the book that using her to provide more complicated view of the Fremen was pretty good. I would say she is here to externalise internal struggles and doubts of Paul, so her departure at the end of the movie is a visable proof how far Paul changed and what it can spell for the future of the galaxy. Take care and good luck with future projects. I will try to throw likes and comments every time.
Thank you so much! And I know Chani is meant to represent just how far Paul has gone but I adored her character in the book. There was something about how sweet and soft she was in the book, about how she grounded him. I’ll be curious to see how Villanueve gets her to where she needs to be for Messiah.
Idk how you got on my front page but your cute face got me to click and your detailed take was fun to listen to, i can tell you really liked the movies!
These movies have jumped to my top ten favorite movies of all time ☺️
@@tristhebee hell yeah! Great picks. You should make a top ten video sometime. Your take on these makes me wanna dive into the books too
Jessica isn't really in Dune messiah unfortunately but she is an important character in the next book Children of Dune. I do think heavy alterations will be made to messiah so including Jessica could be part of that but Denis Villeneuve has earned enough trust to do whatever he wants with the source material.
I agree. I’ll be curious to how Villanueva expands upon her villain arc in Messiah. I trust him completely and I’m super excited!
I may be mixing things up. But my favourite thing for 3rd part would be.. Duncan idaho ghola Face dancer and telilaxu as main villains. And blind Paul fighting face dancing agent smith like neo. If they cast a younger Alia then it will be better. Ana Taylor is older than Timothee
Anna Taylor Joy is just such a fantastic actor, she is definitely a bit older than I imagined Alia but I think she could bring so many rich layers to her. And I hope we get a fight scene with face dancer and Paul. I am really hoping for some of the paranoia elements to peak on through. Duncan Idaho ghola would be a perfect gateway for it.

I want! A holy war!!
Yet another video that misses the point of the Dune story - It was meant as a warning about society falling in love with a charismatic leader. Wait till Dune Messiah comes, I'm hoping they don't hold back... all these channels will get a shock! He IS NOT THE GOOD GUY! spoiler warning.
Yes. He is. As is his son. They are the only two beings in existence (until the end of Leto II's rule) who understand what needs to be done, and the consequences of NOT doing it. They don't want to do it, but it's the only way. The books are very clear that any deviation from the Golden Path leads to the extinction of humanity. Now, to almost every other being in the Dune-iverse? They might have a different opinion, but we the readers know the "truth."
Did you watch this video? She clearly understands the concepts and explains her expectations for the messiah quite elaborately. Watch again.

hey dummy, she talks about that, so... are you just dense?
Great review and I love the tiny mic. Too bad we have to wait +- 4 years for Dune 3..
😭 I know don’t even get me started on that
Dune Messiah will be a feat to accomplish
@Tris - Part 3 (or Messiah, or whatever it will be called) was officially greenlit a few days ago.
I saw! I’m so excited! It’ll just be forever till we get the actual movie!

I have no idea either 😂
@@tristhebee Easy. You (well, ME in this case) hear something and you want to comment on it. You start your comment, and try to make it not sound as if it's written by a monkey, maybe vacillate on what points to bring up, and then you finish. You realize the video's been over for 5m and you didn't take in much beyond what prompted you to comment in the first place. Then life brings demands on your time, so you just send it, because hell, it's just a YT comment. Then replies point out issues, but you don't delete it. It's good to have markers showing where you were a smart and insightful commenter, but it's also good to have them showing you're sometimes a putz, too, as a reminder that you aren't as smart as you'd like to think you are.
