Nice video, but you should put the camera facing the road instead of your face
Love my Red line...🚗
relaxt and good review vid thank you
7:45 uncontrollable reckless greed/desire is the downfall of all things.
Thank you for the review. It was very informative and helpful.
Wheels are small? 245 45 18 is huge for that car ! STEERING is tight, and fast response... along with Go cart like road handling on turns.. You, Sir are a hater of anything that doesn't burn rice ~
lobok
Lol
Eyeing one right now as a replacement for my Mk 7 Golf R. White 2018 manual with MPE. Garage queen with under 6k miles. Would make a sweet daily.
Nice!! These are great for daily driving the golf is hard to beat for that purpose tho haha
Comp is far superior anyone that says the opposite is just coping.
Yea but the og m2 is a more sought after track machine its not in an odd class that forces it to compete with cars that are all faster. As its not much faster than the OG m2 since it picked up nearly 200lbs but all it really has going for it is nicer buckets and m1/2 buttons. I will say though. Having driven both the s55 pulls super hard in higher revs. N55 definitely feels torquier. Lower end.
its literally not... it's prone to overheating on the track. and the comp has much better 6 pot brakes front and 4 pot rears as opposed to 4 and 2 on the OG. Comp is superior@@revengeof1307
The comp is nice but the m2 is much more than a numbers car. It is special either way
Sounds like buyers remorse, you probably drive a 230i
@@S54VR6 didn’t say superior. Say sought 2 different things and they only get overheating if you can push the limits of that car they dont experience overheating until the oilpan withstands forced <1.2g constant.
That's not the standard steering wheel. Looks great. I have a base Sky and really enjoy it.
152k miles on my Lci and still going strong. Still feels like new!
Wow thats a lot glad youve gotte good use out of it haha
wow Im at 35k km after 5 1/2 years
What issues have you had?
Cool video man!
Much apreciated brother 💪
im a proud owner of 2018 M2 LCI
Awesome!
The chrome and fake vents shout 90s. Oddly though the cleaner looking Solstice is aging better. One can only imagine what if these cars were to live on with new iterations.
Could definately do with a bit less chrome but I think the shape flows better in the sky
I made a M2 GTS, minus the rollcage i have the 2018 version and got the 763M rims on em, too crisp
Nice!!! Thats gotta be such a fun car 💪
I have a black Redline...3520 miles...it's like new.
Awesome 💪💪
Wow, a car that's barely ever been enjoyed as intended. *Nerd.*
Thus was amazing man thank you. Im a fellow nfr owner
Apreciate it! These cars are too fun
Just purchased an M2 LCI and my God do I love it. What a car.
Great choice its a badass car!
im not selling mine anytime soon
Car is too damn good
2:55 sounds like compressor stall. If that car is tuned you may want to upgrade the waste gate to a gfb or equivalent. Could be just my headphones but it sure sounded like surge. With that being said this is top 3 my favorite cars of all time and it will be always worth owning no matter what M car BMW puts out.
That is actually the bmw burp sounds when you let off throttle I never noticed it reminds me of turbo surge hahaha
A Miata looks like a little piece of junk next to a Solstice or Sky!
I wouldnt go that far but the sky definately is a beast
Who did the tuning?
I honestly dont know have to ask the owner
#1 thing to look for, leaking water pump. Takes hours and hours to fix, no fun. #2, item, the timing chain guides self destruct, especially on the pre-2008 car, To check this, pull the VTT actuators out, and look at the screens on them. If they have debris on them, it's coming from the timing chain guides. You have to pull the front of the engine apart to fix this $$$$. I have a 2008 sky redline, and it's a great 5th car, ... but.... the bad news, the Sky is a collector car now, and may parts are unavailable, such as the headlights, tail lights, clutch flywheel (and the list goes on). Even used tail lights off ebay tend to have crazing cracks. It's a fun collectors car, to be sure, but not a practical car for every day driving, expensive to maintain and work on too. Radiator fan controllers fail, and are expensive, buy you can use a duplicate ford part for $18 (check out the sky forum for details) Those front side panels crack and break, and are no longer made. Heck, you can't even buy shocks for it (you are stuck with expensive aftermarket racing coilovers). No room for cargo, at all really, but I have trailer hitch on mine, I put my race tires in it. Passenger air bag sensor is a recall item, and can be fixed for free by GM. Having said that.... fun fun fun...and a look like no other in town.

@@No-vj5or You're clearly clueless
@@petef7323 hands down ugliest bmw to come out ever i’m not joking.
@@No-vj5or Thanks for proving me right.
I bought the car a year ago. It checks all the boxes. It looks great, it’s fast and it’s has not given me any problems.
N55 is pretty robust aside from small minor issues that are fixable by you easily. The n55b in the m2 inherited forged internals from the m2comp so it’s even better.
Yeah these modern i6 from bmw are truly incredible 😍
Crazy people think it's not an M car because it has 30 less hp over the Comp M2 lol. This is the true drivers M2.
It is very much an M car and just a great drivers car in general 💪
The steering wheel is from a 2013 C6 Corvette ZR1… looks better with better grip, we have the C6 in my daughters car too, the oem steering wheel is round…
Oo thats interesting it seems so huge in this car but maybe the oem is smaller
Nope they’re basically the same size, the oem diameter for the Sky steering wheel is 14.5 inches and the C6 Vette is 14.6. I’ve never heard anyone say that Corvette steering wheel is too big in the C6 or the Sky / Solstice…The C6 steering wheel offers better grip, control and much better style. Maybe you’re looking at the thickness of the thumb and palm area of the diameter ..
Great car and nice review… I like the style of the videos and the story you’re angling for! Bravo 👌🏾💎🐰😎💥 Bought my daughter an 07’ and love it so far and I hope we will enjoy it for many years to come!
Much apreciated! Glad you enjoyed the video 💪
And im sure your daughter is loving it its such a good little car
@@Carstronaut you need to continue to make more videos… hopefully your channel will catch fire and grow.
@@thomasharris5151 thanks for your comment! Its been hard lately but I will def try my best 🙏
That N55 sounds so glorious! No need for the comp... Maybe the wing mirrors tho 😊
Wing mirrors are a nice touch I need a set for my supra
@@Carstronaut yeah that would look sweet
The only things I would like to add from the comp to my Lci is the seats and the M1-M2 buttons for individualized controls
At auto cross, there could be 150 cars, and my Redline. I have the only Saturn sky there, and people notice. Pop the hood, and 5x more people notice. Drop the top... they all notice
The hood and trunk are 100% one of the coolest things to see 😂
It's like a little corvette, but not a poor mans corvette, as it's not in any way cheap to buy !! @@Carstronaut
Yeh I have the n55 people stop and wait from a far distance to see what it is and when I passed them they are still looking. Sound is addictive.
Indeed it makes you catch yourself downshifting for no reason hahaha
One of the best sounding engines of all time. B58 is up there as well.
As an owner of an OG M2 LCI I humbly say i absolutely love this car. The N55 sounds so much better than the comp and I bought it over one for purely that reason.
Yess it is a very very good car and yes it does sound absolutely incredible wot if I was looking for an m2 id probable make the same decision
*I'm the proud owner of a 2018 ///M2 LCI, and my passion for it remains as strong as ever. This car isn't just a vehicle; it's a continual love story. Since its purchase in 2018, the stereo has been almost redundant, as I'm captivated by the symphony of its grunts, growls, groans, and the lively snaps, crackles, and pops. It's by far the most sonically dynamic engine I've experienced. For the ultimate thrill and driving pleasure, I prefer the windows down and stereo off, immersing myself in its raw essence. It's a race car reimagined for the streets. With the addition of the DINAN exhaust package, it now resonates with the exhilarating echoes of Laguna-freakin'- Seca.*
Nice writing man! Imo it is what the m3 should have become
Thanks, man!@@Carstronaut
I can't wait to own one myself. I just need to figure out a way without my wife murdering me
No it's not a race car, perhaps in your dreams! It's a heavy five seater car. I have a M2 and a Lotus Exige, with a Honda vtec that is like a race car in the true sence!
The ride is fine but far from “Cadillac like”.
Maybe cadillacs dont ride that well? 😂
@@Carstronaut Cadillac's very an excellent ride. Magneride is very good
@@john335i magnaride is decent 👍
Mine had oil consumption issues from 4k-9k miles. After 20k its all but gone. Now at 30,000 miles and zero consumption. I think the engine is fully settled in.
Nice! Mine has been solid so far no oil consumption at all. It is such a good car
For some reason, everyone that goes boost always goes for big boost, big power. More always = better. But you quickly go down rabbit hole of more and more compromises, more mods, just to handle the power. Soon its a very different car than what made you fall in love with this platform in the beginning. People get bored with boost, then either sell or go back to NA. Its fun to drive a really powerful car. At first. Its addictive. But soon you're jaded of a trick pony. If you aren't just trying to boost your ego, then aim for 300-350 whp. You just need an act pp, and most of rest of car can remain stock. It'll still have most of its original personality (especially if you go centrifugal sc), just dialed up to 11.
I think about 300whp is probably the sweetspot for the s2k
Bought a late 2016 OG M2 8 weeks ago. Love it. It's raw, it's pure, and it's fun.
Nice! Glad youre enjoying the car
How many miles did yu buy yours at 2016? I just purchased a 2017 model
@@DevGambit I bought it November last year 2023, 1 owner from new, 25,800 miles. It was from a performance car & prestige dealership though, so I paid top price. I did get a little off the asking price, and a free ceramic coating.
@@DjNikGnashers yeah umm yours definitely is much better then mine mileage wise and stuff, I got mine from a dealership but it’s high mileage has been concerned for the longevity of the car, it seems in great condition other then a 2 scratched on the rear which aren’t terrible. I’m just unsure of how long it will hold up, I’ve heard of kept up to date and maintain the N55 platform is pretty solid
@@DevGambit The N55 is pretty reliable mate. Long as you keep it serviced and don't use shit quality oil and filters, I can't see why it won't go way past 150k. I paid £28,749 probably at the top end of what they are worth.
You mean 19 inches wheels from the factory??
Yep 19x9.5 i believe
subaru impreza is cheaper and handles better than both of them
Havent driven the new wrx but from past experiences with subarus I would say the integra has better handling by a mile still gotta try the new one
@@Carstronaut awd better vs fwd
@@Lemingtona-x5g i do agree but it also depends on how youre driving because the extra weight makes a difference
@@Carstronaut weight all at the front on fwd is crap
I loved your review. My take on it is that the Type R and S are really enthusiasts cars. Most likely anyone who purchase one would modify it. So problems with exhaust, or others things can be changed.
Apreciate you watching! That is a very solid point they are meant to be modified but when hyundai is offering really fun N products for less its a bit of a problem.
I paid retail in Canada with a reasonable discount on bronze wheels and winter tires. The car without tax and extras came out to $44300 us with exchange rate. $48500 with tax, extra Bronze wheels, michelin Alpin tires, protection pack, pet seat ptotectors and 7 year extended warranty, full front ppf. If i want more spice as you say, my summer car is a Porsche GT3. Super cheap mods to make type S 400hp and way louder if you want. I like mine just the way it is! Have to play the game with dealers, just bought mine end of year with dealer trying hard to make quotas for future allocations.
GT3 owner here too also looking to buy an ITS. Are you based in the GTA. May I ask which dealer you bought from? Did you get the Alpin tires on the same size wheels?
@@shahrukhbakar3248 Bought it in Southern Alberta, I ordered the factory optional wheels. A complete set is roughly what one GT3 wheel costs, lol. Bought used at my local Honda dealer with 800km since Calgary Acura has a 1:1/2 year waiting list. Been very impressed so far. Super fun to drive. Might hold on to it or sell it in a year, well see.
That’s fantastic. What was the pre-tax and post-tax price in CAD? The bronze wheels set was in addition to the grey wheels? Would love to hear more about your initial impressions. I’m someone who keeps my cars forever and does my own maintenance and car repairs so long-term reliability of the K20C8 is especially important to me.

If your gonna get a new $50k acura boat I think im getting the TLX Type S
If it has to be an acura definately!
Sos stage 1 supercharger...linear power adder, stock clutch, sounds like that might cover your concerns lol
Ive heard a few people mention this already I need to find one to drive
my s2000 is n/a. When I had my turbo civic I said I always wanted a turbo s2000. When I parted out my civic I had no desire to boost the s2000. Reliability on the s2000 and rsx have been top notch. Maybe a supercharger for it would keep the feel the same, don't need anything crazy. But then I think the money I spend on that could be put towards my dream car (viper) instead of just wasting money here and there and never having any saved up for anything lol
Haha yeah always gotta keep saving for that dream car 💪
I have a 20k mile 06 Solstice which has never been driven in rain. I will NEVER sell it.
Nice! These cars are so good!
Too bad most of us 90's kids can't actually afford it. Glad I was able to get an FK8 Civic Type R that offers nearly everything the Integra has (with better performance) for $13k cheaper.
Yeah true the markups are really ruining it for us out here. Tbh I think that if you upgrade the wheels & tires in the fk8 you have a better type r @throttlehouse did a comparison and found that the older type r was faster than the new one 🤔
5:02 yellow s2000 stalks him behind as he says direct input
Haha yeah that is my car I had a fellow youtuber @quethechaotic filming a review of it the same day go check out his vid if you want to see his thoughts on it
The most common thing people do in the UK is supercharge them, but superchargers don't solve the low end torque problem since they make boost in proportion to revs, meaning the 1st half of the power band is still lacking. The only thing that will solve the low end torque is a stroker kit, like 2.4l or so. From 84mm stroke to 99mm
Stroker kit for a s2k sounds super interesting but that is a different level of involvement 😅
