Outback Guitars Introduce Themselves

Will and Hutchy introduce themselves to the world and reveal some upcoming plans for the channel
Was hoping you'd kick on some heavy distortion with that thing!
Sounds great to me oh yeah it didn't cost $5,000 so the tone just isn't right. Plays fine oh yeah that's right it didn't cost $12,000 so it's unplayable. A lot of guitars out there have that pretentious f****** mindset. There's some of us out there that can look past that stupid s*** in aren't willing to lie to ourselves that somehow the price diminishes the respect you should have for the instrument.
I love you man. Thank you
That ground loop though...
What is the problem of my wirings when i set the volume knob (either neck or or bridge) into minimum 2 to 9 it create noise hums, and if i put into full volume or 10 its ok no hum noise or normal sound?
Is there a way to make it blurrier?
Yeah set the video to 240p smart ass
It always help when soldering clean metal. There is usually a little bit of oil on them from manufacturing.
This has got to be one of the best instructional videos on YT on how to install pickups into a Tele. But it's most of the important wiring is totally out of focus. Sigh. It's honestly a great instructional video.
It pops quite a lot. Have you fixed it, and how PLZ?
I've seen several SPST switches online. They come in 2, 3, or 5 amps. Which one do I need for an electric guitar?
Great video helped me very much thank you
Nice Swatch! I'm still wearing them since 1987 👍
Yeah I no longer wear them now that I work in construction
What would be the result of not having the tone capacitors?
As a newb to soldering, what type of wire is the ground wire? Like where do I buy it? What is it called brand wise etc
All wire is the same the only real difference is the colour of the insulation on the wire that helps identify it. I have no idea what size people normally use as I just have had the same reel of wire for years
Those capacitors are hugeee😮 Awesome video
Incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Glad I could help
You can use either A or B for both volume & tone , it’s a personal preference
Thank you pickup guita !!!happyyuo numbone guita ❤❤❤❤
Does anyone know how this compares to 50's or 60's wiring? Also is the switch not grounded?
Do the hot pickup wires get soldered across the 2 posts, or do you run a wire across 2 posts and then solder the hot wire to just one post? Hope that makes sense
Pain arse Lp fender easier
it works because u get a larger surface area due to the scratches.
Chido homs Ya sonó este pedo🎉

If you compare this video to how LP Guitars are wired in the USA and what USA suppliers are reputable parts suppliers (like Switchcraft and CTS), there are many differences in wring approach and parts used. So much so that the completed wiring approach does not look like any LP I have ever seen. Maybe they make LPs different in the Outback. The drawing from GuitarElectronics shown in the video is incorrect, it is neither LP Modern or LP Vintage. It may by for a different guitar but not for a LP. LPs wired Modern or Vintage have 4 identical pots 500K Ohm 10% Audio Taper from CTS. So perhaps the video is using a custom wiring design, because it is definately not LP factory wiring of any era I have seen. Well, don't take my word for it. Just go to The Trogly's Guitar Show on RUclips, who collects many different era and types of LPs, where he will open the guitar rear pot cover so you can see inside the electronics bay and you can see for yourself how they are wired and soldered. The Gibson 500K pots 10% Audio taper, can be a bit tricky to measure on the bench, due to the fact that the tolerance is +/- 20%. If you buy some TAOT CTS 500K pots with a tolerance of +/- 5% they will track much more closely with the CTS 450G data sheet taper graphs. All Gibson and verified custom suppliers of CTS guitar pots (like TAOT and RS, etc.) based on the CTS 450G series gutar pots all have Brass mounting shafts and brass split shafts. The pots in the video have neither. Purchased from China? Cross connect the pickup feeds volume pots with a ground connection and not the tone pots. Do not form a loop, either cross connect the volumes or the tones but not both. When you form a loop you make an antennea. It is best to cross connect the volume pots because these pots are first in line from the pickups. Also, in the USA wiring either Modern or Vintage LPs, with factory pickups without coil tapping or splitting or any other switch push-pull pot special modifications, the pickups will use Gavitt Style push back wiring and not the pickup wiring shown in the video. The Gavitt wiring will have the ground as the outer tin plated braid around the pickup output center insulated center conductor. The the most challenging connection to solder is the Gavitt push back wire to the pot rear cover, where you may have many different Gavitt wires soldered along with some bus wire grounds. Some Gibson guitars use Humbuckers that bring out all four wires, but usually for the purpose of coil tapping. The selector switch is best wired with three Gavitt (braid + center conductor) wire, two as the signal sources from the volume pots and a third which goes to the output jack. The selector switch housing must be connected to ground, technically to chassis ground, but on an LP the chassis and signal grounds are tied together. At the switch the connection is made between all three of the Gavitt braids and the pot chassis ground using tinned bus wire, usually 20 AWG. In the video the switch chassis ground was not connected. The LP owners that I deal with want a factory look to the wiring. I would suggest that you try and emulate the factory techniques.
Bro this is a comment section not a high school essay
Idk much about electronics per se but you probably don’t need all 4 pots connected to ground like you did. They don’t all need to be connected to each other. The 4th pot doesn’t need to connect back to the first pot because it’s already connected through the other ones
Good video. This is the one I'll use, nice one thanks 👍
I would not buy that !
Good for you 👍
Can you also add distortion to it to maybe play a heavier song riff? I have a similar project in mind mostly because my parents (yes I'm underage at the moment) refuse to buy me a electric guitar, I'm planing to do this with a amp borrowed from my friend to add distortion and (maybe?) run it thru my laptop to get effects but I don't know if that going to be possible. If I succseed I hope to start an Acid Bath like sludge metal band that focuses more on slow and atmospheric songs such as The Bones of Baby Dolls and Scream of The Butterfly both by Acid Bath.
If you do this make sure to also cover the soundhole. It will reduce the feedback
@@explosiveshitting thanks! good to know
I want some help my bro can you show us how do you make Eritrean krar if you search in Youtub you can find it (it's looks like guitar ) please 😢
Talking and working.way to.fast and not a very good view of what you're doing.
thanks I tested my potentiometers and they have no resistance xd
Thank you. Exactly what i needed to know in one compact video.
U too 😂
How do you make the cavity for the 3 way switch? Do you just route a pocket on the front or do you need to route that pocket on the back?
Telecasters generally have a routed pocket on the front and the plate covers the route. On some fancier custom ones I have seen a route on the back but that just makes a bit more work when cutting the slot for the selector switch
Some bachata players play with an acoustic humbucker . Made we want to see if it was normal ,found your video
can you play riff on it? can you play on it like its trully electric guitar?
Yes you can. The tone won’t be the same but it gets most of the way there
Do you have a video wiring one volume push pull potentiometer and one tone push pull potentiometer separately with a three way switch?
By far the best video I've seen so far. I understand the logical wiring but a diagram wasn't answering the questions I had. Seeing this super clean and straightforward and hands-on demonstration got my guitar making noise! ❤
Glad it helped mate!
You have a good way of teaching, after watching other people's clips yours is the one that stuck with me, cheers mate...
Glad to hear. I learn things by doing
On my guitar - the wiring is as per this video - but - all those signal wires (red) in this vid should have an outer shield and the shields should be grounded to the back of the pots - other wise you're probably going to pick up a lot of hum. By shielded I mean that there is a wire in the center surrounded by a braid whch should be grounded.
Sounds like your wiring p-90 pickups. That braid is the same as in the video with the black wires it’s just the negative conductor of the pickup
Enjoyed this! Am now looking to see if you've done a Strat style one :D
Thanks! I wanted to know what kind of switch James Hetfield has that turns between Distortion and Clean
Qdd2 or bury a stripped distortion pedal inside with on off toggle to engage
@@sherwoodsmallidge9186Cool, thanks. I basically wanted to know James's setup, to learn
Sorry if I missed it, but what is the value of those Caps?
Dude I checked so many pro videos, you somehow made this easier than all of them.
schema on picture prease ?
Why not test the middle position and the blend between pickups? I am having issues with that, In the mid position if I turn one volume all the way down it turns off both pickups.
No sheilded wire, at the very least for the switch run?
I don’t own shielded wires I just use stuff I have on hand rather than buying new stuff. I like to make do with what I have rather than spending money on stuff I don’t need
Can I use aluminum’s foil
Yeah I’ve seen people use that you just might have a hard time sticking it in as it hasn’t got an adhesive
Great job young man!!! Worked perfect!
Hello Will, your video is very good and so easy to follow, I have a Epiphone Les Paul Standard and I think that someone has altered the wiring so I'm now going to attempt to rewire following you instruction. Just one wee thing? when you tested the pickups, you used the selector switch in two positions but not the middle position. Can I assume that the middle position on the toggle switch will put the two pick-up's on ?
Yes that is correct the middle will have both the pickups on
Thank you @@outbackguitars3272
