With the Ender 3 KE it has a setting on the printer screen that asks if you want a toolhead away mode, Being that the KE is a 500mm a sec printer the retractions are preset when you use this feature and I have found it works great with the Creality Nebula camera. Otherwise I use the preset retractions in Creality slicer and Have found it to work well. Biggest thing I found on any of my printers is to do a temp tower per each different filament brand I use. this gives me a good starting point for retractions as you can clearly see what temp is just right for that brand of filament, hence less stringing.

I’ve had mine since Christmas. PLA is probably the best to start as it doesn’t require a heated bed and prints at a lower temperature compared to other materials. First thing you want to do is level the print bed, there are tutorials online. Download a bed level test and adjust accordingly. It takes experience and time to realize when the nozzle is too close and too far. If it is too close the nozzle will cause the material to mush. If too far the material will not flatten enough. I use Cura for my Ender 3. Although Creality has its own slicing software. The software will come with the presets of your printer: print bed size, speed. Basically the stock recommendations of your printer. Basically trial and error. The most important thing is to level your print bed first. Then once your perfectly level you may start adjusting other parameters. You will learn once you get started printing. Once you get your bed level. Download bed locks to make sure it doesn’t come out of level on its own. Good luck! Reply back if you have further questions.

1st off welcome to the makers club, You will fall in love with 3d printing if you have patients and stick with it, The only upgrades I found I really wanted for it were the light bar and the nebula camera (For timelapse ) as for filament getting a good assortment of PLA, PLA+ and PLA Silks with be a great start, Sunlu has great filament as do several others. I would suggest doing a temp tower on each different brand you buy as each filament will react slightly different. The test models that come with the printer are in my opinion junk as they have been modified specifically for that machine from the factory, the true way to test the machine is to get some 3rd party test models ( Yeggi.com ) is a good place to start finding all types of models. Being a beginner please be aware you cannot just add a file you download right to the thumb drive it must be run through a slicer 1st, (There will be a slicer on the thumb drive when you get the machine ) otherwise it simply wont work. Take the time to learn the slicers features the ones you will deal with the most are 1) Temperature 2) Supports 3) build plate adhesion 4) Speed after you get better at the 1st 3. Make sure to wash your build plate with warm soapy water before 1st use and as much as I hate to say this (SOME) plates even with a great texture will not adhere without a glue stick which if applied will normally do 7 -10 prints b4 you need to wash and re-apply the glue again. I think I will try Creality’s slicer first but you just made me realize that I need to do even more research about it. Also, I didn’t know that you could lock the bed level. Thanks!

@@FitzCrafter Wow to your reply as well! So much niche information that would probably take too long to find elsewhere. I want to buy 2 different spools of filament to try before ordering new ones. I guess I’ll go with PLA and PLA+ that aren’t too expensive. I noticed that some filaments are more expensive than others. Do I really have to wash the plate before my first print? I’m afraid I might damage it :/ I’ll try to get back in a couple of weeks when I print my first print.

@@patrixqcdrone5099 When you click the printer list on the right side of the screen it will drop down and have an add button, click it and then in the popup window click on Ender series It's all the way at the bottom of the list. if not you may need to update your Creality slicer, It is not in Cura slicer yet

This machine was fresh out of the box, Untouched from the factory, I like to test what they did before I start adjusting anything, I have since then done all the necessary adjustments, Lubing, Tightening and leveling. And yes it was a bit off but not bad. Thanks for the comment.

This one took 3 hours and 38 minutes @ .20 layer Hight and yes with the standard .04mm nozzle. also using the creality default profile, I could have doubled the speed

Thanks Brother, I have found that if you do a bed level once, That unless your moving the machine around you can turn off calibration on each model and it saves a ton of time. so overall the print was more like 30 seconds difference. Happy Holidays!

That's great, once you get use to the printer you'll defiantly want to try more and more filaments. PLA wont need dried unless your in a really bad humid area. Keeping it in a plastic bag with desiccant is normally enough. Welcome to the makers club !!!

@@FitzCrafter I'm in baton rouge Louisiana, very humid. Maybe i should order a dryer right away and get some sealable bags and decadent too

@BennyTygohome you can use one gallon zip lock bags, and almost all filaments will come with a desiccant bag in them.

I saw one when I worked making air conditioners, it was huge and cut metal but I didn't get to work work it. Very handy 👌

I have an enclosure for it, This area will eventually be enclosed and dust proofed just for these machines and My Oversized Laser. But yea it would affect them, I keep them blown off and wiped down daily.

@@supabiscuit LMBO I'm sure the fall is worth it. For being an upgrade to the typical Ender 3 this thing rocks. It's nice to have a bed slinger that actually can get a job done in less than half the time of the old ones

I used a filament from a company called Kyuubi, They sent me a free roll of their rainbow filament to test, I found it to be outstanding in print quality, It can be found on Amazon. and as for settings I used the Creality print software set to silk pla and dropped the temp to 220 from the normal 230. I have found that its best to run a temp tower on each different filament brand before I run actual prints so I get the best results. If you have not tried it yet under the calibrations tab in Creality print it will have a temp tower and I also use the flow calibration, I have not found where using the other calibrations were needed after using these two.
