What important detail you might want to edit in … the bridge shakes knocking players into the river
You are fabulous at explaining how to play the game. I hope you decide to do more videos.
Thank you! Appreciate you saying that. I’m going to start making some new videos in the near future.
Thank you for the vid, it helped me verify my copy is very nearly complete.
I believe "Dynamite" and "Tornado Rex" are also in this series. They definitely use the same explorer figures.
Excellent explanation!
Thanks!
@@theboardgameevolution8909 I have a DISTINCT memory of watching the TV ad for this game when it came out (apparently, I was about 10 years old). I have thought of it on multiple occasions and showed the ad to my kids. They were amused.
Very detailed. I just would have liked to have seen more of the shaking bridge feature.
I just bought this game to display the bridge and idol in my toy collection, awesome board game though....
That’s a great addition to your collection! Those components are definitely display worthy.
A great game i have (and noisy) but need to buy the new one
I have this game
✋ 'promo sm'
The new version doesn’t have an aggressive bridge 😢
Really? My copy is still pretty good about shaking any explorers that aren't well secured on the bridge, and even when secured they can still lose their jewel.
One of my all time favourites. I'm looking forward to the reprint from Restoration Games.
That’s great to hear. It’s such a fun game to play. Really looking forward to the reprint as well!
It is great when explorers are over the bridge but I think it requires more spaces in river or jungle or something else that could happen because becomes pretty straight forward on those sections
They should make a movie of this! Just like Battleship!
That would be awesome!! I would be first in line to watch it!
I had this unique board game when I was a kid. Me and my sister played it often.
It was a fun game to play growing up. It's still fun today!
Is there anyway to stop a player that has already made it back to their canoe with a second gem and a big lead. So far the only thing I can think of if they have to roll perfectly to land on the end spot.
The only way to stop them is to chase them down in a canoe and attempt to steal a jewel from their backpack if your backpack is empty. If they have a big lead and you are on the bridge, maybe try and situate yourself so you can fall from the bridge shaking and land close to your canoe. It would take some lucky rolls! To win the game you do not have to land on the finish space by exact count.
Ok. I got 1 for u. If I'm traveling back to the bridge and then a gem becomes available can I turn around to get it and or am I required to go to the closest gem. Also when returning back to my canoe with my second gem does my turn end there or do I continue on.
1. You can turn around and move towards a new jewel regardless of distance. Just remember that you can only move in one direction at the start of each of your turns as long as it's in the direction of a jewel. 2. Your turn will end on the beach space when returning to your canoe with a second jewel (turns only end on this space when returning jewels). Hope this helps!
Ive been looking for this game for years!!!! Im glad I found this video!!!!! I had this as a kid but i played with it more as a toy then a board game 😅 thank you for sharing this! I may have to track one down now
Happy to hear you found this video and are going to track one down! It's still a really fun game to play!
I 100% used more as a toy with my action figures especially after watching Indiana Jones movies as a kid
Its nice! How cool. I was born in '91 so I was 1 when they released it. I enjoyed this. It is a very well-made video, I would anticipate more.
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed this video. We are going to be releasing more of these videos over the next few months.
Just curious, how can you steel a jewel while in the canoe? If you are in the canoe, chances are the person landing in your space also has 2 jewels. The only way I can see this happening is if someone new starts the game towards the end of the game.
While in a canoe you can steal a jewel from an opponent's backpack as long as your backpack is empty. The jewel in the bottom of a canoe cannot be stolen. In order to steal a jewel on the river, you must be in the same river space as them after rolling jewel on the picture die. Chances are this situation will occur if someone has two jewels (one in the canoe and one in the backpack) and they are on the river heading to the finish space. Hope this helps!
@@theboardgameevolution8909 if you are headed back in the river, you have 2 jewels. Unless someone starts a new game, you wont land on the same place in the river whom does not have 2 jewels. So how can a jewel be stolen on the river? The odds of moving less than 5 places before the other person gets 2 jewels and back on the river for meeting in the same place on the river with an empty backpack is not likely.
Hey! Seeing the original game is awesome! I was looking up how to play again. I just got a new version and your video helped so much! Thanks.
Glad I could help!!! Thanks for the message!
Question: Towards the end of the game, what are the exact rules about moving toward a jewel? Theoretically, you would want to steal the jewel from the leading player to keep them from winning the game. If you can't hit the exact movement to reach the leading player, can you go beyond them?
You would be able to go beyond them as long as you were initially moving towards them on your turn. (example: Your opponent is 2 spaces away and you roll a 4. You turn would end your turn 2 spaces in front of them). That is definitely a good move to make!!
So you can only steal the jewel if you roll that and occupy the exact same space as your opponent?
Yes. To clarify, if you roll a jewel and you are already on the same space as an opponent with a jewel, you can steal it and then move or you have to land on your opponent's space by exact count.
When reaching the idol it seems as though you stop and collect the jewel and do not continue your movement. Is this the same for picking up a jewel from the jungle and for returning a jewel to the boat
Yes! You are exactly right. When picking up a fallen jewel, collecting one from the Idol, or returning a jewel to the boat you do not continue your movement. You will stay in that space until your next turn.
Thanks for the video! Could you please help end a familial dispute on two questions? 😉 1 - If you fall off the bridge, must you go back up on your next turn or can you instead choose to remain on the ground? 2 - If you fall off the bridge with a gem in your backpack and the gem remains in your backpack (or lands in the same space as you), must you go back up to the bridge on your next turn or can you continue with the gem back to your canoe along the ground?
Uh oh!! I would be happy to help end a family dispute…haha! 1. If your explorer falls off the bridge it stays on the ground. On your next turn stand up your explorer and place it in the space closest to where it’s head was. You can refer to 5:45 in the video for clarification. 2. You are in luck if the gem remains in your backpack after taking a fall like that. You can continue on your next turn to the canoe from which the space you landed in. The same applies for if you are in the same space as a fallen jewel. Place it in your backpack on your next turn and head for the canoe. I hope this helps!!
@@theboardgameevolution8909 my son won the game all because he fell with both of his jewels 🙄🙄
The reissue instructions clarify this. Unless you have a gem in your backpack, you must travel towards a gem. You can travel towards a gem on the ground, or on the idol. So if you fall, go pick up your gem and take to the canoe. It’s a shorter trip but you risk losing it in the water.
Does anyone know what to do if the idol stays down and won't go back up on its own, and refuses to shake?
I haven’t come across that issue with the idol yet. There are replacement idols listed on eBay right now if you don’t have any luck repairing yours.
Love this game!! What happens if the bridge shakes a jewel falls out of a backpack and beyond the walls, like onto your table? Does it go back to the idol or to the closest land space?
Definitely one of our favorites too! To your question, I would say at this point, the jewel would be out of play and would be returned back to the idol.
You actually have to cut the bridge in half then fight a bald guy with a tattooed head for the bag while dangling above crocodiles and chanting bubba Sparks kali ma
The reissue of this game tells you to place the jewel in the closest jungle space
I’m still confused 😢
is there a specific rule you are confused with that we can help you with?
Two questions: when you hit the idol and his jewels fly out of his hand and into the playing field, is the jewel "live" and in play? Also, if a player falls with the jewel still in his backpack, can he go straight to his canoe?
There is no specific rules for the jewel coming out of the idols hand. That would become a house rule but I think it would be best to just return the jewel to the idol. For the second question, if the fallen player still maintains possession of the jewel their backpack, they can proceed to the canoe. Hope that helps out.
FORBIDDEN
Thanks for the video! Can you tell is the bridge motion battery operated?
Glad you enjoyed the video. The bridge is not battery operated. Its a mechanical bridge that when you push the idol down it, shakes the bridge for a short amount of time. Almost like the mechanics in a cooking timer you would crank up and it runs on its own.
I'm so glad you posted this How to Play video...I bought this for my son back in '92 when he was 11 and just dragged what's left of it out for his 3 & 5-year old kids, but forgot how to play & make the bridge shake...lol😎
That's great you have the original game and get to share it with another generation of gamers! So cool!
It’s also an expensive game so don’t throw it out the original is worth good money
How cool and special. I was 1 when this came out lol!
This is great content. Love the video was thinking about getting this game today it was a good throw back game.
If you can find a original at a decent price, its such a fun game. They also just re-released it at Target which is pretty cool.
How frickin cute is this game? Is it weird I kinda want it even though Im an adult? lol.
Its one of our favorite classics! Definitely not weird at all.....aren't we all just kids trapped in adult bodies wanting to play games? Target just released this game if interested. A little cheaper price point then an original 92' version.
👍
👍
Keep up the content man. Well done sir 👌🏼
Thank you!
Great review!
Thanks!
