Rethink - Simple Bible Teachings
США
Добавлен 21 мар 2020
I created Rethink to help followers of Jesus understand what the Bible says and how to align their life with God’s word.
Cultural preferences and traditions have influenced our beliefs about Jesus, the church, and the Bible. Many of the issues that Christianity is known for today are not the issues that Jesus concerned himself with. I think it’s time to rethink.
That’s why I created Rethink. This is a place to examine God’s word together and figure out how we can live out his truth in our everyday lives. I hope to declutter some of those issues for you so that your faith and grow and thrive.
About me: I'm a husband, father, pastor, writer, football fan, and ice cream connoisseur.
Hope to see you in the comment section!

What Isaiah 40:31 Means (You Will Soar On Wings Like Eagles)
Просмотров 1219 часов назад
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 I remember the first time I heard this verse as a kid, I thought it was the coolest sounding verse in the Bible. But I had no idea what it really meant. Isaiah 40:31 is incredible, and in it we see a powerful picture of wh...
What Malachi 3:10 REALLY Means: Bring The Whole Tithe
Просмотров 39419 часов назад
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so many blessings that there will not be enough room to store them. Malachi 3:10 I regularly see Christians pull this verse out as proof that we should still be tithing today. Many take it a step further ...
Faith As Small As A Mustard Seed: What Matthew 17:20 REALLY Means
Просмотров 214День назад
Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 Jesus says that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. A mustard seed is only about one millimeter, yet it can grow into a bush 30 feet tall. Similarly our faith, even if small, can do incredib...
What Revelation 21:4 Means: He Will Wipe Every Tear From Their Eyes
Просмотров 14514 дней назад
Everybody is either heading into hardships, experiencing tragedy, or coming out of a storm. As a pastor I see this all the time, this life is hard and there’s no shortage of things to grieve. But, God doesn’t leave us there. The Bible speaks at length about the hope and promise we can find in him; even in the midst of tragedy. Revelation 21:4 paints a picture of what will one day come to be. Th...
What Ecclesiastes 3:11 Means: He Has Made Everything Beautiful In It's Time
Просмотров 15421 день назад
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 While beautiful, this verse can also be difficult to understand. When we look around the world we probably wouldn’t describe it as “beautiful.” Even in our own lives we consistently face trials and hardships. We long for the ...

It's not "HELP MATE" it's "HELP MEET"
Thank you for this. I am trying to bring my fiancé to God, after a wrong doing of his, he has been praying (for the first time), I know what hurt me has lead him to this, so any other gentle godly advice on this, forgiveness, healing and steps towards God would be greatly appreciated. Too much “ bible” would be too much too soo for him, if you know what I mean. God bless you 🙏🏻
Good points! So many who quote Malachi 3:10 ignore how the narrative is directed. In Malachi 1:1 the narrative is toward the nation of Israel then further narrowed towards the Levitical Priests in Malachi 1:6, 2:1, and again in 3:3. The tithe indictment in Malachi 3:10 can't be universally applied either historically or currently and it had nothing to do with money. There's no biblical mandate for anyone, Jew or Gentile, to pay 10% of their earned wages to a religious institution. Not New Testament, or Old.
Thanks for this. I've found it very helpful as I've been struggling in this recently.
I'm so glad you found this helpful! Taking every thought captive is like a muscle. The more you work it out the stronger it becomes. Keep pushing, it won't always be easy, but it will be worth it in the end!
Thank you Pastor, for the explanation..
You are very welcome!

I asked the Lord to speak to me through the Bible, I asked him to help me through my health anxiety, randomly opened bible and at the top was proverb 3:5. I cried in joy! Glory to the Father!
I pray God continues to provide you hope, healing, and peace!
HOW ABOUT PEOPLE CAN RELATE TO THAT? LETS BE FOR REAL
Brother Jeffrey, Excellent job giving an accurate and concise explanation of the much abused Malachi verses. May God continue to bless you, Brother George

Each individual makes a nation
Can you explain a bit further by what you mean?
that hit different 3 years later in 2025

Your messages are always so helpful and Simple, in a good way. I do quote this verse as I struggle with anxiety, depression & anger. So, deeper understanding is needed on my part. Thank you and G-D bless
I'm so glad that you found these helpful!
These thoughts relate to the false teachings to what the Bible says. Twisting the truth to satisfy what you want to hear. False teachers teach that we are to be healthy wealthy spiritual. Yes spiritual in the truth of God's word to what it really means and no not wealthy in worldly stuff - although God's does allow it- but it does not mean it for everybody. . Capturing thoughts are those that twist God's word to mean what it's not.
Thank you for this message, it is very helpful.
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I will take time daily to fill my spiritual tank in my relationship with Jesus and turn over to God all captive thoughts. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 😊
If you do that God will do incredible things in your life! Keep pushing forward!
This was good sir!
So glad you found it helpful!

Good New Testament application of Old Testament truth.

Thank you so much for doing these videos. Especially about this topic. I pray you keep making these video to help people like me that want to learn about the Bible what it means to our everyday life. Thank you so much.

So let me understand this… all suffering is gone? The suffering of being a woman, the suffering of being black, the suffering of genetic divergence, the suffering of being gay… because MAN chose the criteria in loco Dio?
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much, Pastor Poor, for explaining tithing. Unfortunately, I can not afford to give 10% of my income to my church, and it has weighed heavy on my mind. What I give, I give joyfully but I always feel bad that I can not give more, so thank you for sharing this with us. God Bless and Happy New Year
Give joyfully, generously, and prayerfully. You don't need to feel guilt if you do those three things.
Amen

There are a few things my BFF and I used to disagree about what was sin or not. I do not believe swearing is a sin, depending on how it is used and the heart behind it. I was on the fence until my son, who is a conservative Christian, became a Marine. When he gets together with his Marine brothers most of them swear, especially the f word. At first I was horrified to hear this come out of my babies mouth. But then I mentally replaced it with "like". Teens in the 80s used "like" the way they use the f word. Listening to the intent was much more helpful than listening to the words. He cleans it up, a little, around me, but completely respects my BFF and will clamp his mouth shut if he thinks it will slip out. It really is a matter of the heart, the heart of Jesus. I would never drink alcohol in front my friends who believe it to be wrong. Anyway, it was my BFF who sent me your video and she loved it. Thanks
You hit the nail on the head, it's about our heart and intent. Our hearts should continually be reflecting Jesus, words are words. But it's our intent behind them that point others towards Jesus or away from him.
Anyone who runs around saying motherfu@ker or fu@k etc… can’t possibly be christian behavior. There are scriptures like in Ephesians that say let nothing unwholesome speech come out of your mouth, but only that which edifies another.
Context of how words are used matters. God cares deeply about how we use are words, but in and of themselves words are just words. How we use them determines if they are unwholesome and tear people down or edify and build up.
You forgot some very important ones. 1. Beauty ( hair, faces, bodies) 2. Superficial appearances (person's, places and things) 3. Other people When a person constantly focuses on these things, these things become their God.
Those are great additions! I made an update on this video a few months back to add additional idols.
It’s so refreshing to hear another person give accurate interpretation of this scripture. I used to speak this over myself until I began studying Gods word and I learned better. We cannot take every passage of scripture and apply it to ourselves because some things written were to specific audience and people and some are considered personal or universal. Either way, God says through Paul to study the scriptures for ourselves and another passage is my people perish for lack of knowledge. We in the church need to really wake up and know the word because we battle a real enemy called Satan and if we don’t properly apply the word in those times when it’s truly needed to fight the attack we will be overpowered.
Proverbs 3:14 changes as it goes from trusting God, Him, Him to : for her proceeds, she is more precious, cannot compare with her, in her right hand, in her left hand, Her ways are, she is a tree, retain her.
I love this verse!
Spot on brother. If we want to claim that promise today we need to become slaves under God's Judgement.
The main reference was sexual reproduction. God created the animals male and female and had Adam name them. Adam recognized the sexual differences and was alone because he had no opposite (female). God put Adam in a sleep and took Eve from his side because there was no "helpmeet" suitable for him among the animals, that is one that could help Adam reproduce. So the two shall become one flesh (sexual intercourse). This is why S. Paul accuses a spouse of defrauding the other spouse if she does not consent to sexual intercourse in marriage.
I ❤the I am statements
Me too!
Glory to the most high for this teaching he is providing through you my brother. May the almighty continue to protect and inspire you. Big Thanks!
Thank you so much!
God’s love is unconditional. The Bible presents a different perspective, depicting God as a wrathful being who punishes sin by burning both body and soul. This notion is arguably one of the greatest lies ever told, crafted for religious purposes to control the masses. Additionally, the concept of a devil is a fabrication We must not deny God's love. We are all children of God, regardless of our actions, as there exists a spark of light within each individual, no matter how small. This light is enduring and cannot be extinguished The key lessons of the prodigal son are 1. Unconditional Love and Forgiveness**: The father in the parable symbolizes God, who is always prepared to forgive and welcome back those who repent, regardless of how far they have strayed. 2. Repentance and Redemption**: The younger son's return signifies the importance of acknowledging one's mistakes, seeking forgiveness, and striving to return to a righteous path. 3. Grace and Mercy**: The father's actions illustrate that God's grace and mercy are offered freely and abundantly, surpassing what we may feel we deserve. 4. Rejoicing Over the Lost**: The celebration for the returned son represents the joy in heaven over a sinner who repents and returns to God. 5. Lesson for the Faithful**: The older brother's reaction emphasizes the need to understand and embrace God's boundless grace, reminding the faithful to rejoice in the salvation of others rather than harbor resentment and condemnation This parable highlights God's Perfect love, encouraging us to forgive and celebrate the return of those who have lost their way. ..
The real meaning is God's love is unconditional and will not burn our souls when we transition if we make mistakes
