This is a video with pieces of my life leading eventually to a new series of paintings, which I am excited about. All the aspects of life weave together making their way into our art and creations and creativity. I said to someone recently, "We are always creating self-portraits around us everywhere we go." which is something I have believed for many years now. I think this idea was new to her from the look on her face, but I have always operated from this place. When we begin with creating the world we want inside ourselves, that is what we see forming around us. We are all a work in progress and I am learning more and more about this Mystery every day.

All is well

I grew up with a verbally abusive father and a very dysfunctional family and I had severe anxiety for many years. There is a book I used to read a lot called "God Calling", which is a channelled book. In it, there is a passage that says to repeat to yourself, "All is well." over and over again until it draws out all of the anxiety like drawing out poison. I did this all the time in those days, ...
Painting of Amber and Clover.
Просмотров 1482 месяца назад
This is a short video about a painting I made in 2017 of my friend Amber breastfeeding her baby Clover. I recently was able to borrow it from Amber so that I could have it professionally photographed to make high quality prints of it. So I thought I'd make a little video with me in front of it talking about it and sharing some thoughts. Enjoy! my website: suzannejoyteune.com

I've had the privilege of being surrounded by artists all my life and I wanted to share a few of them here as well as a little bit about why I love them. Most of what I share here is about my connection with these artists, how I met them or learned about them and my relationship with them. I don't talk that much about their art or ...

    Hey Susanne, maybe you could learn about catrography (location astrology) and find out what is a more suportive location to live, depending on what you desire to to fulfill your soul. That would mean to 'move' on a specific meridian line. For example i choose to move countries to be on my South Node of the Moon, wich meant for me an hermetic, peacefull life in the nature, wich made me really flourish. At my almost 50 years old i look really very very young, healthy, beautiful. I use to hate my entire look, but now i am such a happy being

    My core sentence was: i am invisible for all the rest of human beeings. At my age now, wich is almost 49, i got this feeling, 'undestanding', even 'knowing' that I AM the only one existing person, wich it's true (in a sence) because we 'all' are ONE (hoe clichee might sounds 🙈) And indeed it's a happy realisation 💃

    I can relate to the feeling of being in a rush when the season of harvesting comes along. I live in the north of Sweden and the season of foraging and harvest is quite short here. But there is also something so calming with taking the time to be outside and gather nutishing things from nature.

    Thanks for this. I was an 18th century reenactor and docent at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. I spent a lot of my off time as a ship keeper for the Revolutionary War gunboat Philadelphia. But when on duty I covered a lot of history from the retreat of the glaciers 10to 12 thousand years ago to the present focusing in on whatever my guests asked questions about. Here in the Hudson River, Lake Champlain corridor there four different ages of pre European cultures that we know about from archaeology. Then the contact and colonial period with its shifting alliances and wars. The French to the north and the Dutch to the south partnered with different tribes and cooperated at the resource extraction and traded. Mostly furs for metal tools. Neither the French or Dutch were really interested in making a big life here beyond trade but were often drawn into intertribal warfare with their trading partners. The English were like that too at first when they were a fragile presence but then moved to take over from the French and Dutch as their numbers increased. They also wanted all the land for their rapidly expanding population but still needed to treat the indigenous people with some respect. The American Revolution changed all that. Some tribes allied to the Americans were absorbed and virtually disappeared. Those allied with the British started the process of forced movement. Some tribes and their warriors suffered defeat after defeat. I have always wanted to know more about the northeast woodland tribes the Algonquin to the north and east and the Iroquois to the west and south. Where I live shifted back and forth with the fortunes of the large tribal groups. The Iroquois were on the assent at the time of the Revolution starting with the original 5 tribes and expanding to 7 plus fragmented smaller group. The Tuscarora being forced north from Cherokee lands. It is really very hard to learn the real histories of these peoples, there is no one source. I spent a lot of time in Washington DC at the museum there trying to put a bigger picture together but all the information was very tribe oriented. It seems to me the story of the western tribes is much easier to pull together but that isn’t the story of where I live. Is there any information in that book on the earlier cultures, the Algonquin culture especially or the Iroquois Confederation?

    • @suzannejoyteune
      @suzannejoyteune 4 месяца назад

      Yes! There is lots of good information in this book and also on the author's podcast, "All My Relations". Also, the book "The Great White Roots of Peace" is a good book about the Iroquois Confederacy.

    That was quite a video. I think it is great that you are trying this. Trying to take ownership, tying to be honest while being respectful, recognizing the connection with your body and mental health, recognizing your art as a path to health. It all sounds so good but definitely not easy. I follow Johanna also which is probably how RUclips brought me to your videos. I wrote about my situation back on another of your videos on the beach where you opened up to an amazing degree. I know physical abuse and estrangement. But my mental stresses were completely different. I didn’t know how the mental stress was affecting my body and mind until my father died and I had such a weight lifted. I had spent 50 years always prepared to defend myself, my mother and siblings. To kill if necessary from age 10. What a load gone that I didn’t even know I was carrying. Keep up the good work, videos and art. Thank you.
