Poor Herbert 😢… Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ep 106 - the Pack
I LOVE this episode. It completely makes no sense....until it does. And then there is one of the best speeches ever given by a Doctor. There are rivals but I think this one is my favorite speech. Eccleston at his best.
preparese gordon que se va asutar bastante y es la pelicula de la ouija peor
Elected by the people, for the people and on behalf of the people I command you...
Just found these from you! I have seen a lot of your music reactions to Pentatonix but didn't realize you were doing new Who!! When you said the Doctor is terrifying and saying he was close to losing it, a particular future episode popped into my head, like...keep that in mind because you are so spot on. The Doctor has a lot of darkness in him indeed - though you can see his character develop as the show goes on and it's fascinating! Can't wait to see more of this series if you keep going with it <3
Prepare to have your heart broken again and again by this show
Good to have you back. The pausing where you analyze the acting skills is what makes your reactions srand out. Too many people just go "wow that's crazy", which doesn't add any value at all. I appreciate watching someone who can appreciate the acting. In terms of this episode, I really enjoy the dinner scene. Not only it's putting both actors' skills under close examination, it is a rare window into the Doctor's vulnerability, even though he didn't say anything about himself. And I agree with you, it is the best possible outcome for Margaret, very humane.
I think the camera distortion in Bad Wolf is the effect of them pointing the camera at a reflection of Christopher Eccleston, or a display of another camera's feed? However they achieved it, I imagine the intent is to give off the effect of looking at a TV screen from an angle, in much the same way a viewer of Big Brother might be watching him from down on earth.
Please keep with the weekly videos !!
👍
you need to get over this age problem . age gaps have been normal for thousands of years of course she's going to find him attractive it's biological . I'm in my 30s most of my social circle are 18 to 25
This episode always brings me to tears. Thank you for your insightful observations.
Another stellar reaction with great insight as always.
Another spot on reaction. You seem to always be on point with your observations. Keep doing what you do best. Keep watching Doctor Who. Please! 🙏
Another great reaction video. I always find a new perspective after watching your reactions. I hope you continue to enjoy watching Doctor Who and perhaps move on the “classic” Who at some point.
Gotcha! Welcome to the infuriating Doctor Who cliffhanger. This is the first one in “New Who”, but it won’t be the last! They love doing this. It got me every time. 😮 The classic series was built on the serial format so this is the perfect way to tie into the original idea of cliffhangers present in all of the classic Doctor Who stories.😪
Once more, a superb reaction video. I find myself enjoying these “rewatches” with you so much more enjoyable than with any other reviewers. I absolutely love your reactions. Keep up the good work.❤
I am currently immersed in Doctor Who. Simultaneously rewatching Series One from the beginning with three reactors while watching the “Classic” series from the beginning as well. I am currently up to the Third Doctor - Jon Pertwee Season 9 Episode 62 - “The Sea Devils” from 1972. My “First Doctor” was the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker which I began watching on PBS in the US in the ‘80’s. He will always be my favorite Doctor although I have come to love each Doctor in turn as they appeared, some more than others. 😊 I have also begun listening to some of the Big Finish Audio stories as well. It is proving to be an immersive experience. Which I am absolutely loving.
I currently view three Doctor Who reactors. Two from the UK and one from the US. (I am American as well) It is interesting to note the difference in your reactions from the others, taking it from an actors perspective. I enjoyed watching this first episode with you and look forward to continuing this journey with you.
the Daleks are prime example why it's not a kids show they are based on the Nazis they kill anything that's not the same as them
Love your reaction. More gut punches to come
My first regeneration was back in 1982, and I was 5 years old. (Australia was about 12 months behind the UK in those days.) It's just been part of life for me, but it's still heart breaking every single time.
the death and birth of the doctor
he ages it's cannon (but a few years after this season)
Doctor Who was never made for kids it's made for Adolescents and adults realistically speaking no one under 13 should be watching Doctor Who is PG-13 younger people can watch it but with supervision
I agree that everyone was on top form where the return of this show was concerned, even though they were feeling their way a bit, and not sure if they were going to succeed. They put Doctor Who into major league status by the end of the first season. The most astonishing levels of acting I've seen this year, though, comes from the TV show, Interview With The Vampire, which - if you haven't seen it - will knock your socks off.
somehow murray gold has written all the music for the modern show, except for series 11-13, which are scored by the much more experimental segun akinola. akinola's whole sensibility is *very* different and also superb in its own way. from 2023 on, though, we're back with murray gold. and he's still on fire, same as he was almost 20 years ago.
i am really looking forward to you reacting to series 8 to 10 with peter capaldis doctor. the first series gets a bit overshadowed by the david tennant era, but it really is an amazing season.
10:13: "Cause she's gonna look at him with tears in her eyes and the most broken expression, I would have fallen to pieces. I needed that break" * Presses play * 10:22 : "Oooh, the break didn't help" * starts crying * Sorry, that made me lol 21:46: "Oh , I'm not ready for this" Neither are we ever, but that's Doctor Who for you 😂 It wasn't a let down, don't worry, it was a great reaction!!
Thank you for being the first reactor to go "It's just a cat." I know people that have gotten thousands into debt because their pet had leukemia or something. No! It's not your child. I have two feral cats I never asked for and if something happened to one of them, if I wanted to replace the demon from the 9th pit of hell, I'd just place a bowl of food outside the front door. The demons always come if called. I actually prefer dogs, but you have to respect cats and their "you serve me, puny human" attitude. Of course acknowledge that unlike a dog, they will eat your eyeballs and tongue if you die and they run out of kibble.
Yeah, many of us looked the same by the end
Another episode so soon, nice. This episode goes all over the place and somehow ties everything in semi-perfect. I can’t wait for the Tennant era. I hope you’ll also consider watching the little 3 minute minisode ( which is basically an extended end scene to this episode meant to transition into the Christmas special, but don’t worry, you don’t have to watch it to understand the Christmas) “born Again” I think you can find it on RUclips. Can’t wait for the Christmas Special. 😃
Thanks for watching and for hte comment. I actually did watch the shorts. My Patrons on Patreon asked me to watch them I think they're on there somewhere. I'll ask my patrons to check to make sure but if they are I'll put them in the store as a package for the minimum ($3) so anyone can check them out even if they're not members on Patreon.
The first season is legendary and episodes 9-10 just knock it out of the park.
if you want to really see more of Billie Piper, check out the show she was in called Secret Diary Of A Call Girl
If ya want to see Jackie in something else that’s totally fun, you should check out King Ralph staring John Goodman, I believe it came out in ‘91. The entire royal family dies in an accident and they have to find someone from the bloodline to be King… and it’s a bloody American! Hilarity ensues.
I think the camera distortion is just a mirror reflection. Don't know if it's supposed to be a two way mirror to hide cameras (sort of like the Daleks are watching him), or if they just thought it was cool.
The scene with Rose in the cafe where she gives the whole "The Doctor taught me a better way to live" speech and runs out gets me EVERY time. Billie is just outstanding.
I know your up to series 4 on patreon - are you doing spin offs too? ie Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures?
Eccleston’s performance in his final moments is incredible. He’s not only addressing Rose who’s very confused and worried, but also the audience of new fans who first got into Doctor Who with this revival, who are also confused and worried, and crying the rest of their tears out. He holds back the regeneration process to tell Rose and the audience, that “this is going to be ok, I’ll change, I’ll look like a whole new man, but I’m still the same, and rather than scare you more, I’m going to do it with a grinning smile”. He’s not down emotionally, he’s not screaming in pain or crying himself as he regenerates, he’s smiling from ear to ear to reassure us that things will be fine. Enter, David Tennant. The lonely god. The dashing hero with side burns, big hair and Chuck Taylors of my childhood. Eccleston was a unique war ravaged spark to reignite the show, but Tennant is a powerhouse who took it above and beyond into a modern cultural phenomenon. I cannot wait to see what you make of his acting.
You could see how powerful that was for you in your different reactions throughout that episode: the acting (from all concerned), the writing, the direction, the score, all of it was top notch and made this such a memorable finale. And just when you feel there’s nothing left for you to react to, there is the ninth Doctor’s regeneration to contend with. That final scene shows the brilliance of Christopher Eccleston. As The Doctor, he knows what’s about to happen, but even then he’s not thinking of himself. In those final few seconds of his ninth life, he spends that time trying to reassure Rose and prepare her for what’s about to happen to him, even though he won’t have any idea how she’ll cope reacting to the 10th Doctor because his Doctor will no longer exist as a physical being once regeneration has occurred. All of his thoughts and memories will live on in the 10th Doctor, and it’ll be up to the new guy to explain to Rose what’s actually happened to him. Thank you, Christopher Eccleston, for seeking out this role in the first place. You took on this part, embraced it and gave a “fantastic” performance as this battle scarred Doctor who, when we first meet him, is suffering from PTSD after causing and witnessing the destruction of two races (one of which was he own) by his own hands at the end of the great Time War. With the Time War now over, the Doctor arrives on Earth and meets Rose Tyler, a 19 year old teenager who is drifting aimlessly in life until a chance meeting at a department store flings the two of them together. They are both what each other needed at that time, and slowly but surely, Rose reignites the Doctor’s love and passion for wandering through time and space. In return, the Doctor shows Rose the wonders of the universe and opens her eyes to endless possibilities as she travels with him. Goodbye, Christopher Eccleston. Hello, David Tennant. The King is dead. Long live the King. Can’t wait for your reactions to the 10th Doctor, as well as to new (and not so new) villains and other blasts from the past in Doctor Who: season 2!
Your first regeneration. I love that enjoyed the score. Murray Gold did so much with not a ton of money. He had more money later and there are some amazing scores then but I think the music here is exemplary.
"You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic. And do you know what? So was I!" The first of many times I cried while watching Doctor Who
When you said you had come to love the sounds of the TARDIS.... to think that sound hasn't changed one bit since it's creation in 1963.... With all our technology we can't do better than they did back then
You picked up on 'blasphemy' and 'blessed'. I like how the Emperor used 'design' when asked about 'Bad Wolf'.
Like how you commented how terrifying the Daleks were on the ship.
Bastic bullets used to be enough to blow Daleks wide open, but these are Time War Daleks, with stronger casings even without the force fields.
I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but this was Billie Piper's first proper acting role. She was a semi-big teen music star in the UK when she was cast and there was immense doubt she would be able to act with the calibre Christopher Eccleston could, and she proved everybody wrong from Day 1.
In 1814, the philosopher Pierre Simon Laplace published what may have been the first scientific articulation of causal determinism: We may regard the present state of the universe as the effect of its past and the cause of its future. An intellect which at a certain moment would know all forces that set nature in motion, and all positions of all items of which nature is composed, if this intellect were also vast enough to submit these data to analysis, it would embrace in a single formula the movements of the greatest bodies of the universe and those of the tiniest atom; for such an intellect nothing would be uncertain and the future just like the past would be the present to it. - Pierre Simon Laplace, A Philosophical Essay on Probabilities. Pretty much a description of the TARDIS and what was in Rose's head. Rose Tyler-Bad Wolf: "You are tiny. I see every atom of your existence and I divide them!"
Just stumbled in - gonna go backtrack but am ready to strap in - 10th doctor LETS GO!
The Doctor would have felt the pointlessness of losing his race at the start of the series, but he has moved on by the end, and can't commit the same action when faced with the same dilemma again. A great character arc.
Episode 6: "Why don't you just DIE?!" Episode 10: "Everybody lives! " Episode 13: "Coward. Every time." Yeah, great character arc.
RE: You not saying much this episode - that was in itself a powerful reaction having watched your reactions to the rest of the season so far. If this was all I had seen of you, I would be disappointed that you don't say more, but knowing you normally do say more changes it. The fact that you were too engrossed to comment speaks volumes about what you thought of it. Your face during it said even more. From the moment 9 put rose in the TARDIS your expressions told us exactly what you were thinking, and told me that the acting was so good that you seemed to have forgotten it was even acting at all.
