I first encountered this short film just a year ago and it brought me to tears watching it... It was that late night I was in the hospital by myself, until 2am, just feeling so much inside me, that was when I got this text message from someone way higher up suddenly and unexpectedly saying they are still awake at this hour as well and thinking of me, knowing I'm still here, which cheered me up and they told me to go home, and I first saw this film then, gave me goosebumps throughout. It encouraged me greatly for some reason, I obediently went home right away after the text message, and this film inspired me to just carry on and delve into work full force the very next day. It's been a tough ride but I made it, and I'll keep making it. "You need to be able to find your voice."

Excellent film, but can’t subscribe to channels with this many ads. Not everyone can afford ad free RUclips and I do understand that the creators need to pay for their content with advertising.

People seem so concerned about teaching those with SM, autism, etc how to treat others without disorders………instead of teaching the “normal” people how to treat those with these challenges.😢

Great teacher- knows when to push, and when to back off, while keeping her student engaged in their "end of the bargain"... and importantly, letting the student know they are care for and loved.

Goosebumps. I recognise parts of going through the trauma proces with all its triggers, because of my religious trauma. Found ways to deal with it, but it's unbelievable how strong those prison bars can be.

Couldn’t finish this once the theater teacher was talking to the main character like she was 2 and had trouble hearing. Not enough people acknowledge the ableism in infantilizing sometimes because they don’t communicate like others do. Eye contact isn’t as important as people make it seem. I know it’s expected in theater but one can definitely communicate in theater and in real life without looking directly at a person.

She has a very good mindset . Is it due towards her being mute . Since she sould have used sign language.

i clicked on this without knowing what it was about. i had selective mutism in 8th grade, but thankfully it didn't last very long. i can't imagine what having it for years would be like.

my parents hate the idea of being diagnosed, they say it’s a “label” and even though it may be- they never consider the fact that it can do good. im pretty sure i had selective mutism, and still sometimes have the tendencies. i was a gymnast, i had a horrible coach who was constantly putting me down. for a lot of coaches, putting children down was a way of seeing who could fight and succeed against harsh situations. obviously, like a lot of children, i was simply beaten down. it felt like every move i made was wrong, like i had no control. i stopped speaking in certain places as a coping mechanism, maybe as a way to gain control. but then i lost control, i physically couldn’t get myself to speak. i always felt like my words would result in a negative outcome, that i would ruin things for myself and others. it’s such a scary thing to feel. i love the representation.

From what i got the mother said "no matter what happens dont say anything. NO MATTER WHAT" and hid her while the mother went to either find a hiding place or distract someone. Not saying anything kept her alive. But her mother clearly died. Someone must have broken into the house.
