I'm an old dude who really loves guitars and guitar-based music. I enjoy learning new songs, occasionally recording covers, and occasionally writing and recording my own stuff.
These videos usually take between a few months to a year to complete because I rarely get more than a couple of hours per week to work on them. Lately I've taken a "mad scientist" approach to recording which is very tedious: I loop a section of a song in my DAW, hit record, and then play it over and over with different effects, different techniques and different guitars. Sometimes one of those takes is exactly what I was looking for, but often I end up blending 2,3,4 or more takes into the final product. I spend way more time in post-production than in recording. I love this approach because I often end up with unexpected results that are greater than the sum of their parts.

Except for percussion, all performed on a Schecter FR-S SLS Evil Twin. An EQD Astral Destiny and TCE Sub-n-Up were used for some of the parts, but half of the parts were played through an EHX String9 synth pedal.

Almost all of the guitar parts were recorded on my Gibson Les Paul Classic tuned to C# Standard. A few parts used my Schecter Synyster Gates Custom (for the Sustainiac). The art for the video was created using the MidJourney AI.

Sorry Destiny 2 players, this video has nothing to do with that (except the stolen name.) So I bought the EQD Astral Destiny pedal recently, and decided to try it out in an ambient guitar piece, which is not at all my usual style. I paired it up with Walrus Julia, EQD Spatial Delivery, Digitech The Drop, EQD The Depths, TCE Mimiq, TCE Dreamscape, TCE Transition and TCE Hall of Fame. I'm not tha...

This has been a long strange trip. I started this project a year ago with a simple concept based on two chords. It kept growing and along the way I picked up new pedals and a new guitar. This was an indulgent exercise of seeing how many unique sounds I could coax out of my gear.
I'm Henry the VIII, I am (Heavy Metal Cover)

I first heard this song when The British Revolution covered it giving it a punk rock vibe. Since I'm more of a metal guy, I thought I'd give a Heavy Metal version a try. I slowed down the tempo a bit and used a guitar that was tuned in drop B for playing Slipknot songs. When this changed the key from A to F#, I realized I was in the same key as "You've got another thing comin'" by Judas Priest....

Damn Matt fucking ripped Nobody a new one with that performance. I want THAT version on an alternate mix 😂
He did the same thing when i saw them October 18th. Was fuckin badass
@@Somawesomestuff yeah dude that shit sounds fucking hard 🔥🔥🔥
Just bought a black one in non working order for $100, it makes sound but definitely needs a good hard cleaning. I can say it's very comfy though.
i dont know what is worse your skills or amp
Definitely my skills. The amp is pretty nice for what it is.
@@UnknownArtist1999 i have this Amp too and compared to my vs8080 this vox sucks
Sounds great sped up 1.5x and 1.75x too.
Great cover of an iconic 60s song. A heavy metal touch really works well.
I have a white one and also just bought a black version great guitars. Cheers
Mantas from Venom used to play one of these
got it in 1985 ,, $500 with case,
2000 plus now on reverb. like the only one for sale.
yea , great , guitar, and i am selling mine on facebook , may be ,, i still love this guitar ,, ROCKS ........
For some reason I thought of mine today....that is why I am here. I have the same transparent red one. Bought it 20 years ago, sold it after a few years to a friend, then traded a B.C rich to him to get it back. I don't play anymore but I enjoy looking at it!
Wich strings for this?
I can't remember for sure since it's been so long, but most likely I had Gibson Vintage Reissue 10's on that guitar.
How many of these were made, because I have one and I rlly want to know if it's rare haha
When comparing between pickup options it’s difficult to know the different tone when you play drastically different stuff. But helpful video, and you’re a great player! I’ve got the white/lightning one. I love it!!
What was wrong with that Gibson 335? I don't know why it is but I rarely see a Gibson vs. Epiphone video where the Epiphone doesn't sound better than it's overpriced brother.
I have the navy blue version of this guitar. Didn’t realize what I have until seeing this video. Makes me appreciate it a little bit more. Bought it at a pawn shop for $180 around 2004. Great beginner metal axe.
I’d love the blue one! I have the white one with the red lightning bolt.
From what i researched, there were only 12 blue ones made for the NAMM conventions but they were never actually put into full production. 6 were sent to St. Louis and the other 6 were sent to the UK. Somehow mine ended up in a pawn shop in P.E.I Canada. ( I wonder how many more blue ones are left out there.
@@DisasterpieceTrav88 Is yours a really dark blue? Mine is with a rosewood neck. Wondering if there were different blue Dimension IV's. Would never sell mine.
dude look it up. it's 2000 plus on reverb. none after that. no were nada!!
that's a wacky looking sci fi bull pup rifle thing. good musics too, clap clap.
wrong key
Yeah, I shifted it up a semi-tone so it can be played in standard tuning.
glad you did ;)
Good man! Finally out off a half step down one though.
@@UnknownArtist1999 yeah man really annoying, fuck standard tuning
Great
they sounded very much the same.
You have to know how things sound to notice the differences... they sound similar to a normal human's ear, but to a musician they are very different
This is something I was really curious about. But, saddly, I can hadly feel the difference. I guess only well-trained ears can feel it, perhaps only long-time players and professionals. I actually suspected that, already...shame on me. Perhaps with no distortion on the amp, would be better...a cleaner sound could help the amateurs understand it better. Thanx for the vid; keep on rocking!
Nice strumming!
sell?
its all pickups difference and string lenght
Nice tones! Please, pay attention to your vibrato
The les Paul classic had a nice tone
that was pretty bitchin, i dig the hellraiser, it's classy lookin and metal lookin at the same time.
nice demo! i have a quick question though, do you get any noise from the amp without even plugging anything to it ? like a shhhhh noise ?
Yes, it hisses quite a bit. Much like any digital multi-effects device.
thanks for your help :) so do you think the DA5 is better ?
Loved it. Sweet dude..
thanks
Nice and groovy, the piano is a nice touch.
that les paul classic had a nice tone! epi pro fx not so much. i liked the p90s gritty sound. that strat was hella nice too.
Joe Ma ----> Yea, it works :-) If you put your cable in MIC hole
Thanks, man
Nice playing. I want this guitar.
