Emily Dickinson Museum
Добавлен 19 мар 2014
The Emily Dickinson Museum provides the most historically accurate, immersive experience of the life and work of Emily Dickinson, one of America's greatest poets, and the Dickinson family. The Museum is comprised of the Homestead, where Emily Dickinson was born, lived most of her life and wrote nearly all of her poetry, and The Evergreens, the home of Dickinson's brother Austin and sister-in-law Susan, and which served as the backdrop to the dramatic events that led to the posthumous publication of Dickinson's poetry and letters.
The Museum is dedicated to educating diverse audiences about the poet's life, family, creative work, times, and enduring relevance, and to preserving and interpreting the Homestead and The Evergreens as historical resources for public and academic enrichment.
From March through December, the Emily Dickinson Museum is open Wednesdays through Sundays. The Museum is not open on Mondays, Tuesdays, major holidays, or on any day in January and February.

Definitely miss hearing tge Writer's Almanac
I am not American but one of my ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence and an event like this reminds me again of so much that is so beautiful, wise and lovely in American culture.
I feel Emily would not have much appreciated the meretriciousness of the wallpaper?
I miss the Fitz and $9 rush tickets. One time I got front and center on a rush ticket and Garrison looked right at me each time he describes the prodigal son from Lake Wobegon who got lost in vice when after moving to the Twin Cities. He sure got that one right..

So fascinating ! Oh to be a poet on pleasant street ... If I can help one fainting robin into his nest I shall not live in vain . yes , quietly passionate is a very good description of her temperament ... And thinking with a slanted view . Emily did not follow the norm .
I collect books on Emily's poetry and anything with her father's signature etc. I was lucky enough to find the 1883 reunion book with a letter glued to the inside back cover from family with list of the ancestors going back to the 1600s. All was hand written. I have the funeral card from Mrs. Bianchi. It is fun searching for things like this..
Can you make a video about the 2883 reunion book, letter glued to it and the fu real card? Have you been able to post any of it? ❤️
@@ivettepalacin8599 I will not post it as I have never posted before. I may be donating all of my Emily collection, books. letters etc.
I wonder if hollywood or any other filmmaker had produced a film on this great poet???????
There is a show called "Dickinson" based on her!
Cynthia Nixon portrayed Emily Dickinson in a film in recent years--an excellent and intriguing portrayal.
-A quiet passion (2016) -wild nights with emily (2018) -Dickinson(2019-2021 series)
Great job--thanks for the investigation!
The trees were old and antique. They should have been left alone. A person without adornment can be more beautiful than makeup.
I'm sad when trees come down but I think the museum wants the house to be exactly like how the Dickinson family kept it. The museum's website says that the hemlock was managed by the Dickinson's to not be overgrown. Unfortunately, the hemlocks were overgrown and had not been managed in a long time. The trees caused a lot of issues probably. And the main goal is to always protect the house. There are many other trees there I think they did not touch.
Fascinating project. It will help bring to life Emily’s world.
I do not feel the same now since they added the wallpaper. Why cant things be left alone.. Was it fallen down??NO..
Me too, I didn't like it either; a special scent of history and legacy, so to speak, is lost.
Another video on the restoration said they found fragments of the 19th century wallpaper. They even show a close up of the pieces stuck near the ceiling where they removed the ceiling that was put in after Emily was there. And the museum's website goes into more detail. The wallpaper they removed dates to after Emily's time there while the wallpaper they found fits the timeframe.
Emily
I have loved visiting Emily's home! I've learned so much about her just being int his space. I've toured several times - and always walk away with something new. Great job!
Hi! I visited today! It’s quinn, I had a wonderful time seeing this amazing home!
This pervert.
Keillor makes his entrance at 11:18
I am curious to know how they came to choose this wallpaper. Is this a replica now of how her walls were when she lived there?
I was just reading about Emily's gardens last night on your website! I'm so fascinated by this! The more I learn about Emily's life the more excited I get by all of your restoration projects. Please upload more, RUclips doesn't have a lot of good content about her.
Wow very cool.
Comovente , fraterno e esperançoso
I have written emails to the house museum re: the house , and never received answers in the past few years. Very disappointed. I have toured the house, invited to go through the Evergreens before it even opened and could not make it but, I have a large interest in Emily Dickinson and the homes. Also, very disappointed they cut down the trees.
Thanks for the video - I really hope to get there some day!
I like Emily DIckinson
Great to see the house she lived in, thank you!
THis does not seem like a large amount of money for such a historical home.
