How Not To Bell Mouth Your Primer Modules
God was looking over your group on this day. You are the best in the buisness.
Yeah but put that in a kydex holster 30 times and it will strip it off
Spend that kind of coin I'd do nitride toughest finish out there.
Is graphite black a dark black or more of a dark gray?
I have used it before but it's been awhile. As I remember it was a flat finish, no shine black.
@@jeffhankins6616 thank you
One of these days I’m gonna pay you to make my wife a rifle that’s identical to that 223 build you did with the McMillan Remington mountain rifle stock.
Nice video! Do something long enough, and mistakes happen. I like how you correct the mistakes, instead of trying to hide them.
Is it cheaper than bluing.
I’ve wanted my Daniel Defense ar-10 multicam but scared to send it in the mail but I could make a trip to your place I think from here in Floyd co…can you do a good multicam black.?
I would not do it as I am covered up with my custom work. Thanks for thinking of me though.
@@jeffhankins6616thanks Jeff
Awesome video Jeff
Thanks.
Love that bench top , care tp share the dimensions ?
46.5X46.5
Vortex is mostly trash.
Sorry you feel that way, I think they are a good scope for the money and they have a lifetime, no questions ask warranty
Can you build me a single shot 300 win mag.?
I could, but I have a very long lead time.
@@jeffhankins6616 ok.. can you give me an estimated time frame.?
Email me. hankinsrifles@twc.com
Very good accuracy. Muzzloader came long way since 2012 . Took big pa 8 point cva new frontier with 100gr powder charge not mag load in 245gr bullet. Here only use a in-line for early doe hunts or rifle season in Muzzloader and shotgun areas those place switching over to straight wall areas . Flintlock is in the winter after January .
Very cool can go over the system in how works ie what makes a smokeless muzzloader. Im a black powder guy and regular rifle shooter and handloader
I have several videos that does just that.
And nobody I shoot with doesn't run a patch down after at least 3 to 4 shots, I could see changing the sabot used but not the bullet except maybe its grains. And I guess I'm a lucky one that My CVA Accurate shoots great on a clean bore the same as a fouled one, with a Bergarra Barrel. Also I never store a shot Muzzleloader after being shot as the powder is highly corrorseve, maybe a day or two but that's it.
What's the barrel length, how many grains of powder and which brand? What brand of bullet and weight and what brand of sabbot? And I never use any type of oil except Non Petroleum like Montana Extreme Bore Conditioner.
Nice looking muzzloader
Thanks
Prayers for you all no body was hurt
Do you mean a cva wolf? The scout is a single shot center-fire rifle if I'm not mistaken.
No. It is a 45/70 converted to a muzzle loader.
That's pretty cool, didn't know you could do that!
Check with the ramrod, had to be up 3" from the witness mark. You loaded the rifle, you had to realize it didn't go all the way down. I've made crazy mistakes as well....double check!
Oh no Hank, Im sure you are mostly glad that he's okay but you must be heart broken as well with all the hard work you put into that build. Glad everyone is safe.
my target shooting / plinking load is always about half or less of what would be max charge for whatever muzzleloader I'm shooting. Accidents happen and regardless of how much we concentrate, we can become distracted. I'd rather be safe than lose a few fingers or an eye. Of course, even lighter charges won't prevent the potential for tragedy when powder / bullet / powder / bullet is loaded. That's a lot of pressure, especially when the second charge ignites. I only use black powder or substitute in muzzleloaders. Mostly I shoot flintlocks which means blackpowder for best reliable ignition.
Even with black powder a double load will cause an explosion.
@@jeffhankins6616 An "explosion" from black powder would be exceedingly rare with any modern (in the last 50+ years) muzzleloader. Also, if you read my post, I said my day to day load is about half what would be considered maximum which gives room for a double charge. The person in this video was loading smokeless powder which can build up far more pressure than any amount of blackpowder. Typical failures would be nipple blowing out, touch hole on flintlocks blowing out, "walnut" in barrel if ball short started, etc. Catastrophic explosions like in this video would be rare if they happen at all when using real black powder. If you can find one that blew like this when using real black powder I'd like to see it.
@@jeffhankins6616 that would be exceedingly rare.
@@jeffhankins6616 thus my using about half the max charge for my daily charge.
Wow that is a catastrophe brain fart ! Thank the good lord no one was hurt badly.
Wow Lucy person 😮
Just found the channel, is the challenge all smokeless muzzleloading?
Holy shit that's some power! Man everyone was lucky. To bad about that rifle looked like a beauty.
This almost happened to one of my friends. He double loaded his rifle. We checked his witness mark and he did in fact put a 2nd load in it. We tried to clear it. Just didn’t have the tools we needed. So he took to local gunsmith got it cleaned and cleared. All good and ready for the coming season. Jeff you can’t preach this enough. Safety first Safety first. Glad I tuned tonight, be safe ,keep your videos coming.
Do you still do the Kentucky challenge?
Yes, twice a year. We have one coming up this weekend August 23-24-25 2024
Bringing that scope to every class you do is worth way more than a replacement scope
Wow. 2 men are very blessed to be here today.
Thank goodness Jeff its only the rifle, scope, rest & windshield that needs replacement. Maybe some shorts too…
Had a buddy blow up a Thompson center omega I sold him. He’s an avid reloader and was shooting loose powder and mixed up his powder bottles and loaded 100gr of rifle powder instead of his muzzleloader powder he was using. He had pieces everywhere luckily he only had a few cuts he apologized to us friends that were there for possibly hurting us because he was in a hurry and didn’t double check his powder we told him accidents happen everyone is fine he’s now very very careful but glad to here your guys is fine along with all other shooters
One reason why I take the time to drop the ramrod in before I load ANY powder
Did I understand you correctly, you did not hold him responsible for the damaging destruction of your rifle, scope & stock? That had to be around $6000.00
Hey Jeff, thanks for posting this video! It may save a life down the road. Everyone that was present is very lucky not to have been harmed. I am guilty of double loading my gun and caught it by the witness mark. I was talking to my two smokeless buddies and did not have my undivided attention on what I was doing. Again, thanks for posting this it sure is a sobering sight.
What was the charge?
100 grains of H4895 with a 325 grain bullet times 2
Absolutely Jeff i would keep it n tk god he's ok good lord was with him n tky for sharing this people need to c n not being distracted is the way to go
i learded this by forgettin to powder chrg m.l. n had to pull bullets ,i used airpressure once ,n another time i sprinkled powdr into breach by pullin cap plug, got enough to shoot bullet out, measure w/ramrod n save all extra work
I'll stick with my Goex and Schutzen for my muzzleloaders, thanks.
ps;always messure ur ramrod before ,after loading so u can ck if loaded or not if u loose consitration,ck w/ powder only also, wont heart to know
if ever in dought if u charged a ml;dump barrel to ck,its better to loose 50grns then to loose a rifle n worse bodyparts or life,my rules on my range w/muzzelloaders esp, even blk powder, better to be safe then injured
God was with that gentleman.
Appreciate your lesson about smokeless powder guns. I'm a hunter ed instructor. We need more guys like you!
Thanks. I appreciate that.
“Keep your head out of your ass!” Drill Sgt . Mantra, Echo co, 3rd battalion, 1st brigade, Fort Polk, La. 1967. Good advice, I don’t always remember, but I try. These mz rifles are a discipline apart, as I know, having ruined one with the bullet sliding for word of the charge at my private range, bulging the bbl, hell of a detonation, but walking away with a “Weatherby Eyebrow “. Like the man stresses, complete attention is paramount with this method of shooting!! HM 1, ret
Thank the lord nobody got hurt.
Holy moly Jeff….lucky sob right there
God was with you and all your participants of the class today. I saved the video so I can show all my friends. I was at a long range shot with high power rifles and the guy next to me left his bore sighter in his rifle and shot it got peppered pretty hard with pieces of barrel. Thanks for sharing this
Jeff, you have managed to scare the living hell out of me. I will stick to black powder and substitutes only, and hope like crazy Blackhorn, or something like it will return to within the means of us average citizens. Best.
a double load of blackhorn will do the same thing.
That is one lucky guy. Im very sorry about your loss of the rifle tough. Beautiful rifle.
