Bad taste in my mouth. Joined 1.5 years ago. Was going well, I was all in. I asked my club for a suspension due to an increasedwork load at my job and some family health issues. Next, I got an email from the district governor saying he was sorry to hear that I was leaving the club and offered help in me finding a different club. What the hell? I only asked for a 3-6 month suspension. I quit. The way my request was handled was a joke.

Sounds more like an Ad than reality......, kahcinggggg!

Zero substance here, my concern is why I've never seen an apple orchard or a peach tree in any park in Ontario, I see rotary branded benches and a lot of sod, no food trees through.. Food is abundant, scarcity is manufactured!

These are really not the myths about Rotary that prevail. These are just questions that people who are already willing to join have. Those not willing to join have drastically different concerns about what Rotary ‘really’ stands for and is about. The myths about that are what a video like this should probably address.

A former boss of mine claimed at an assembly of Rotarians that the latter of people of high moral integrity and rectitude. He made sure that the event had a national coverage. As an employee, I knew he was just a crook, ready to engage in any shady deal, just for money. His philosophy could be summed up in one word: "profiteering".

I’m trying to tell our sad experience with this organization everywhere I can. My sons studied many years in a school in Sao Paulo, Brazil that belongs to the Rotary Foundation of São Paulo. 11 years ago, I got divorced and stopped paying the tuition for 5 months. Now, 11 years later, after having my bank account blocked, not having been informed about this law suit till it was already ended, so I couldn’t even defend myself, I have a debt of almost US$15,000. I deliver food for a living, cannot pay this amount, I live with my 2 sons in Colorado, and was caught with this huge bill, with this amount I could buy a condo or a house in some regions in Brazil. I sent an email to the president of Rotary in the US, president of Rotary in Brazil asking for help. Never got an answer from any of them, I received an email from a Rotary supervisor in Brazil saying that Rotary Foundation of São Paulo has financial and administrative autonomy to make any decisions and they couldn’t interfere. That was it. I sent several other emails asking for help, no response whatsoever! None! This law suit was in the hands of a very expensive law firm in Sao Paulo. They played cruelly with me and my family during this process, offered a discount, cancelled the discount, then returned with the discount, demanded the bill to be paid with a credit card. If I didn’t pay the bill, the next step would be to take ownership of any properties under my name in Brazil. We do have a condo in Brazil, where I and my family used to live. We rent an apartment here in Colorado. Now I read Rotary’s mission, “provide service to others, goodwill”!!!!! This is not true!! This is a group of arrogant and greedy people, that make a lot of money, no mercy or sympathy for any family or person in need, I can imagine how many families in the same situation as me have their lives destroyed in law suits like this! This organization deserves no respect!!!!!

Before now, I had downloaded so many applications trying to see my husband whom I suspected had been cheating. Right now I've got all his secrets uncovered and still monitoring ongoing activities. I was reluctant at first about finding the truth about my cheating wife but I’m glad I finally took the courage for it and now I believe the saying that “The Truth Will Set You Free” cos I feel better and free now after knowing the truth. so i don't think those are myths! 75 to join only if you are "sponsored" is an elitist move and they only seem to sponsor $$ people and not community. I can go all day on the BS i have been told to my face that make these 5 myths not myths!

why does a person have to be sponsored and pay? I inquired about joining my local rotary and was told it would cost me 1200 a year to be a member in good standing and then told that I couldn't afford to be a member! I also see only white elites are included in the local membership and all have some LLC involvement--Port Orford Oregon and the smooze their way around local ordinaces whne others have to follow the rule of law? why is that?

This video is very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Myths will always be there if the local clubs are unable to connect to the local community and work together for the local needs. But good deeds will always clear this myths fast

I'm sure this is true in most communities but 'dinosaur' clubs still exist where your myths still cling to life! Best of luck in changing them!

The Rotary Myths that notoriously spread in Indonesia country is Rotary is part of Zionist, our club even lost a group of Rotaract club because of that myth. We can't even mentioned "Rotary" name on national televisions, when we donate things through red cross, the red cross got the good name, but our Rotary name is hidden. Sad thing, not even one people in the our district can outcome this obstacle and just accept the way it is, we barely can even shout to the society that Rotary is NOT Zionist, we truly are the good people.
