Thank you, I live in Belmont and I think what your doing in documenting your observations locally during this unprecedented event is very interesting. There is an element of journalism in reporting your first person account as to the behavior and state of the community as we learn to cope with this significant moment in time. Continue to be extra cautious, protective and safe as things progress and hopefully things get better soon. This is what I noticed while on under the " Shelter in Place" Order... 3/30/2020 Belmont California, San Mateo County~ I have been listening to a Public Scanner of the Local Law Enforcement- Sheriff/Police, Fire/Rescue, EMS/Medic, Channel for a while and the chatter used to be mostly Police pulling people over and other routine Police activity. Typically Medical would just have a handful of incidents per night, however the last couple of days I noticed that the calls going out over my scanner (which anyone can download, "Police Scanner" a free app for cell phone and desktop at the Microsoft store or Apple store and tailor it for their County) began to escalate to non stop. Medical calls went back to back and didn't stop. with coded language like: fall victim, 5150, O.D. (overdose) and with quickly injected words like Covid , Corona, test positive, d-con (short for decontamination) and hesitated covert talk trying to convey something without revealing it, along with requests to change channels. The calls for Medical attention went on and on all night long consistently. I counted over 15 falls, a lots of 5150 (mental issue) calls and this went on into the next day and night. Many calls stated respiratory symptoms, problems breathing, many not breathing, chest pain, strokes, seizures, vomiting blood and some that to me, suggested deceased. "Coroner will call you back" was one piece of the chatter. The information received on Public Scanners can easily be misconstrued or conjure up things in the mind due to the fragmented, choppy and sometimes static communications. However, the reason I know that the responses were in real time and First Responders in fact were handling emergencies, is that while listening to all of this, a call went out around 11 pm. with my Mothers address and my heart sank. We quickly got to the car and headed in her direction and in route called her. To our fortunate surprise, she answered and said it was a Carbon Monoxide sensor that was signaling the end of it life, the Fire Rescue determined. Thank Goodness it was the end of only that life. Because the calls for people with breathing difficulties was unbelievable as one after another continued From what I have learned about this virus is that when breathing is impacted it is literally a person drowning in a soup of vile internal fluids secreting into and filling the lungs. A ventilator the only possible chance to survive. If a person is at that stage with difficulty breathing they will die. It suggests to me that all those calls going out regarding "falls" and other coded language with problems breathing tells me the serious nature of the Medical Aid to the sick, dead or dying from this outbreak is hitting in San Mateo County, with some veracity. Yet, I wondered why so much of the transmission seems to be semi encrypted and not raising any type of a community alert to this. AT least to me, it seems as though the present danger and risks to the community is shielded by either not to cause alarm, privacy or by design. I emailed the above info to a few Media places and posted it in response to get some feedback and then I began to notice a lot more silence on the San Mateo Law Enforcement scanner channel, and my channel keeps turning off. But I have been hearing a flow of Medical calls for "fall" victims. Good luck I look forward to seeing your videos and remember it doesn't.
