I agree, GG is weird sometimes because they just can't paint the picture of a character properly. You get what type of character they are trying to build, but they just can't, they always get it wrong or slightly off but people just go along with it and think what the dialogue tell them to think. Like Luke, I think he was supposed to be... A brutish, macho dude who is rough around the edges, closed off but he had a hidden heart of gold and cares about Lorelai and Rory like no one else does and is always there for them. I can see this is the picture they want to paint but... rough around the edges then becomes screaming angrily at people all the time, brutish becomes not communicating his feelings to Lorelai, macho becomes being violent, punching people and being pretty mysoginistic like not liking ANYTHING remotely girly, or being squeemish about a woman breastfeeding and children playing, or... God help me... Constantly telling pregnant women to sit down... (I guess that would be caring?) caring for Lorelai and Rory becomes harassing their boyfriends... It's just... The picture doesn't come off as originally intended. Sometimes the show feels written by a child to be honest.
