That was a pretty good overall history of steelpan. My Dad Raymond Lawrence 94 yrs old was part of the movement! He lives in LA Puente California. He claimed he created the Chelos that is presently being used by Trinidad All Stars!

PLEASE NOTE: Mr. G uses "air quotes" when he says that Columbus "discovered" Trinidad and Tobago, but the map of Trinidad is superimposed on screen and you can't see the gesture. Columbus "discovered" Trinidad only for himself and his shipmates, and his voyage sponsors. Trinidad was already well occupied by natives including the Caribs and Arawaks. When European colonists came, they spread diseases on the island that the natives had no immunity too, wiping out most of the native population.
