Legitimately what just happened? I’m so confused and that was kind messed up. Like, maybe they have an open relationship but it is very clear that Achilles and Patroclus are absolutely head over heels in love with one another. Then Achilles gets Deidameia pregnant, and THEN Patroclus has intercourse with her despite seemingly not wanting to (dude, legit why you know you didn’t want it but still continued anyway? He seemed to enjoy it at least? Don’t know if that makes this better or worse). Not to even mention the fact she is literally pregnant with the child of the man he has basically devoted his entire life to. I don’t know why the author decided to add this, as far as I know it isn’t in the myth. Maybe it was normal by Ancient Greek standards, but my modern view has left me really confused. This is a long rant, but I needed it.
