Emotionalism and Wellness in Solo RPGs 🪷🔮🌿(Alone in Wellness Solo RPG Analysis)
Wellness and our mental and emotional health have been on my mind a lot while I play DnD and TTRPGs. So I thought one way to really reflect on my gaming experiences and life playing Dungeons and Dragons is to play a solo rpg that gives you the tools to deal with your emotions. So in this video I discuss the Alone in Wellness series of games and their impact on me and others.
If you are interested in purchasing this game and supporting MonkeysLunch, check the link below. Be sure to leave a review on the games you played as well!

In Defense of the Edgelord in Dungeons and Dragons
Просмотров 45721 день назад
I think the edgelord archetype in Dungeons and Dragons and tabletop rpgs gets unfairly roasted. The trope is used in so many rpghorrorstories it is practically a meme in the industry. Plus the edgelord is used as a pejorative to call out bad gamemaster and player behavior. So as you can guess, I discuss the edgiest character trope of them all: The Edgelord #dungeonmaster #dnd5e, #5e, #dungeonsa...

the concept sounds great, but how is this an RPG? It sounds more a list of prompts to think about. I don't want to downplay the meaningfullness of this, since i believe it's ultimately helpfull, but it doesn't sound like there's a game here.

"I can feel your anger. It gives you focus, makes you stronger!" ~ Emperor Palpatine Another great essay, Blerdy! And this one may certainly be valuable because of the current poignancy in the USA right now. Introspection like this, illustrates how close we all are to one another, regardless of minor variances. - One thing I wanted to mention is that the dangers of using tools like these, unguided by a professional, may include delusional thinking - as one may mistakenly justify their egotistical biases. It can actually make the issues worsen, and become harder to overcome. Taking precautions can be as simple as being very aware of those "unhealthy thinking patterns" 5:04 and snap out of them if veering in that direction. Those unhealthy thinking patterns are prevalent and really do shut people down, which means they may never reach their best self. Take a break if the game is increasing stress, perhaps that Pomodoro method could be used in playing the game. The goal of the game is to understand oneself so as to feel better, not worse. - People gotta remember that the body is but one thing to care for. The mind is absolutely another. Of course some would further say that the soul is another. When the self is healthy, then there will be benign growth. When the self is unhealthy, then the growth will be malign. The journaling helps to "get it out of your system" via processing it meaningfully, and when combined with self reflection to work out what one feels and why they feel it - this self-enlightenment leads into the stoic, when one can temper themself with self control and further be empowered by themself. We've known about ourselves for thousands of years, and the ancients were able to codify and explore the psyche even back then. Modern techniques will still trace back to these ancient philosophers and their observances of human behaviors. - I'm definitely interested in seeing America become healthy again. There's too much stress, and not enough compassion. Too much corruption, and not enough integrity. It surely causes people to wild out when so frequently - up is down, and down is up - and this ends up making people weaker as a result. Society has shifted to accommodate all of the pressures of day-to-day life with all of it's expectations, and the result is very unhealthy. In a word: decadence. We've lost touch with the natural world and our natural selves because of the clockwork nature of our society that we depend upon. We become less human, and become more enslaved drone, as a result - and so our minds rebel while they have the strength and wherewithal to do so, before being suppressed entirely. "You know that pain and guilt can’t be taken away with the wave of a magic wand! They’re the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don’t want my pain taken away, I need my pain!" ~ Captain James T. Kirk

I love the idea of playing a "fake" edgelord. Bro is trying his best to be dark and dangerous, but his dex isn't that high, and he's a young man so his voice occasionally cracks. He's undeniably good with a sword, but thats from being tutored at his wealthy families house and his precise form is the opposite of the street smart badass he's pretending to be. leans on wall to brood: slips and falls

I would not classify every brooding character automatically as edgelord. From all the characters I would only take Reaper from Overwatch and agree that he is an edgelord. In my opinion an edgelord is not just a misunderstood character, but someone who enjoys hurting others for the sake of hurting them. And most of your characters you listed don't do that. So sure, brooding characters can be interesting, edgelords are more than that and thus there is no excuse for edgelords.

What i mean is, some of the comments talk about not agreeing with the notion that a specific race is “bad” or “lesser”, and that to me is dnd racism by players and dm. Now, when the characters in the game have racist views due to their experiences, then thats racism by characters which to me is fine.

I was so excited picking this book up, but I haven't read through it all yet because it feels like far too much writing for the amount of information in it.
