So, I am trying to find out what that means.. And what state the car is in at this point in time.

started work in Jan. 2022.
Rust in body and fenders.
New suspension all around.
Rear wiper motor.
Brake pads and rotors all around.
1 cv-joint and 1 driveshaft.
coils and sparkplugs.
new summer tires.
------ and then the videos..
and more to come..

The old KN induction kit changed for a Forge motorsports kit. The open filter is not legal for MOT in Denmark. Fitting the FORGE kit for 1.4tsi BLG to hear the sound for it. Actually a bit noisier then the KN. Will make a ram air duck for it later on.. What do you think of the sound??

They say this can cause fuel cuts at high rpms
@TzouPhotography I think it's more likely the pumps doing that. Low side not providing enough to hpfp at high rpms. Or clogged filters. But if that little bearing fails, it could destroy the cam and/or engine. That's why at high mileage, it's a good idea to renew the cam follower.
I've got the exact same engine and I have a fault code of P2293 with the HPFP (mechanical malfunction - intermittent). From 40% engine load it throws this out. Also - I'm limited to 3K revs and it jerks violently if throttle is more advanced. So, I'm not sure if I have a low pressure issue, or the HPFP itself it not producing enough pressure. Also, i'm not sure if the HPFP is a combo of solenoid activation or purely cam lobe-driven actuation. From the looks of things - it only has one thrust sensor, unlike the 2.0T GTi variants, so probably the latter? But my specific issue here is a likely out of timing ( - I have all the symptoms of a skipped chain). I'm having a new timing kit installed soon to see if it will remedy this (obviously also checking the low pressure upstream fuel delivery) if not - I will rule out this hypothesis and would be down to an actual mechanical malfunction on the lobe/roller/HPFP. Keep you guys updated.
@@timbitzzz HPFP is purely cam lobe-driven. mechanical only. hope you get your car sorted.
Hello, I have a question about the vw golf 5 1.4 103 HP 2007 auto (1k1). Is the small cylinder inside the high-pressure pomp the same as the one we can see in the video, or does the production number 711024410 fit?
I would think it has the same one as in the video. With the roller. Only the 2.0 have the other one.
@@r.tran2 thanks for the info
and maybe you can tell me from which site I can buy such a type, because I think this type is very rare
@@KekszMorzsolo69 only available from VW dealers. I couldn't find it anywhere else. It's about 110€. Or 800DKr.
Thank you very much for your videos. Would you please tell us where the power steering reservoir is located.
Thank you. The mk5 does not have hydraulic steering assist. There is no reservoir. It has an electric assisted steering build into the rack.
I have the same engine and just rewatched the startup. Mine does not have Any ticking. Has the chain been done? And are you using 0W/30?
Using 5w/30. I think the chain has been done. But not recently, I think 🤔 chain value is within the recommendations still.
@@r.tran2 On these engines I don’t think you Can measure the values? It will only warm you when the timing has been skipped
I can look for how much it is adjusting the timing. Same as the 2.0. Atleast as far as I know.
@@r.tran2 I did not know you could do this on the 1.4 TSI… VW says to take the entire side of the engine off to check it
And they would be right. But looking at live data. You'll get an indication of what state it's in. Cam advancement or timing advancement, I think it's called. Between 0-4 with smooth idle, everything is good. Above 6 , indication of chain stretch. Idle will be affected, and codes start coming. This is what I was told.
Typical problem. All valves have been upgraded to a different design by VW
Ok. Mine was worn-out. The spring inside didn't have much tension left. And couldn't keep the boost in.
@@r.tran2 I changed mine because of a VCDS fault. Its very typical because of the design
Mine, too. But it might still have been to late on mine. Currently, the engine is using 1 liter of oil every 500km on short trips 😮💨
@@r.tran2 Nono your pistons are on their way out. I have the same engine: 0.2 liters over 4200km…. I Also give it the beans sometimes but only when hot
I'm afraid you might be right. But I know the turbo is blown. Got oil coming out of the cold side. Car doesn't smoke all the time. But it pores out smoke after 15 minutes of driving ,but always between 1500-2000 rpm. And as soon as I clutch out, it stops. 🤔 so I'm hoping it's the turbo. I am planning on doing a compression test and borescoping the cylinders. Just haven't had time yet.
Is this the 1.4L GT model of the mk5 golf or just a normal 1.4L TSI?
It's the GT yes 125kw / 170ps
was that loud tapping the reason why you change the follower? it was quite happy after start probably until it was all lubricated?
at first it was because of tapping, and I was told it had same follower as the 2.0 gti. When I got it out it was the roller type follower. But the bearing in it was worn quit alot. IT had a lot of play in it. so I chose to replace it. If it fails the cam will take damage. My local VW dealer never sold one before this. So it might not be a common thing to do
@@r.tran2 I just changed mine today, same exact cam follower as yours, it's a 3.0 Tfsi and the same exact tapping noise. I'm yet to see if the tapping noise is gone on a cold start. Did the new follower sort your tapping noise issue? Excellent video btw, great content
@bogathlorant yes it did remove some of the tapping. Still some in the high pressure fuel pump. But that's normal I think.
What's the part number on that HPFP? I can't find a replacement anywhere.
I do not have the part number for HPFP. I just replaced the seal on it. I tried finding it. and i am not sure, but it looks like all 1.4 tsi with 103-125kw use: part number 03C127025T. I think you would be best of asking a VW dealer to be sure its the right number, before buying anything, they are not cheap parts
@@r.tran2 Thanks!
it's normaly turbo ist ok😎👍
Kan du få din til at gå i perfekt tomgang? Har prøvet alt 😂
Ja.. den kører fint i tomgang.. 140 og 170 hk. Skal have 100 octan Benzin.. 😊
@@r.tran2 Hmm ok, jeg har fået nye tændrør, så dem skifter jeg om ca. 1 måned og håber at det er det. Ellers må det være tændspoler. Skiftede du til originale?
Love these twinchargers
Original turbo….?!?
Yes, I think so.. it's a Borg Warner unit. And I'm pretty sure it was not changed..
Will it not Burn off? It gets crazy hot
I'll find out.. paint is good for 300°C.. It is made for barbecues, the paint.. I'm hoping the cover doesn't get that hot.. They call it thermal paint..
@@r.tran2 Giv endelig en update. Det er lige hvor turboen er, så den bliver vanvittig varm hvis man kører som en jyde.
How did you know it needed to be changed?
I didn't know at first.. but it has a fairly small needle bearing in the roller. I checked because I thought it was a little noisy from hpfp. And the bearing was quite worn and noisy when dry. Thought it was best to change it.. My local vw place never sold one before this.. so it might not be a common thing. Just made sense to change when it was already out..
@@r.tran2 Det lyder godt. 1 mindre ting at skifte for mig ;)
Remember to check both the oil feed and return pipe to make sure non of them are clogged
They both need to be changed to a revised design. VW changed it on ours when it had the timing chain done
@@danielfl.9347 I changed the oil feed on mine plus the two banjo bolts. Though the return pipe was easy to clean and make like new again
Thats normal, i had same play on my old 170k km, bought new oem one, and it had same play, dont worry
It is the lighter ring around the propeller that is my concern. It looks as if it has been hitting the housing. 🤔 looking at pictures of new and reman turbos, they do not have that lighter ring..
@@r.tran2 oh, i didn't see that light ring in housing
Where can i get that custom air filter?
it is a K&N filter. it was already on the car when I bought it. I don't know part number for it. you will have to find your local K&N dealer
@@r.tran2 thanks i found one on eBay
Mine BMY engine golf mk5 2009 with 169K km had the same gaps 😊 I check it once every month just to be sure everything was okay.
Did yours have the lighter ring around the propeller? As if it's been hitting the housing? Mine also sound really rough sometimes around 4000 rpm at full throttle.
@@r.tran2 Not really, the housing is good and propeller had to push a lot to hit the walls around the housing but I thinking to change the core soon just to be sure that it’s not going to fail, also I have misfires with the engine warm that because engine loses timing for 100th of centimetre 😢 and I will change the timing chain to fix it. If you believe that your turbo core is not working properly and have too much gaps you should change it soon because if breaks some piece from the propeller it will damage your engine 🫤
not as bad as i was thinking is gone be!

Hi. A little its normal when ingine is cold, its for oil
Yes, but this one is hitting the housing. It is pretty worn from blades hitting the house. Probably best to put a fresh one on.
