The animators for the Sonic CD animated sequences are some of the only people who've worked in or with sega that understand sonic

Something interesting I heard about this, though I can’t seem to find the source at the moment, was that while Sonic’s design here tends to make him look like a kid, apparently the cutscene director wanted to show him as being more mature with a very determined personality and sense of justice. I think it shines through really well in these cutscenes, even watching them back on the Mega Collection as a kid I thought they were really cool and liked how Sonic was portrayed in them. He doesn’t say anything to get his character across, but he doesn’t need to as the animation and music does it perfectly.

Cool to see that it was originally 2 volumes stuck together to make the first Sonc the Hedgehog film - that's how it was advertised in the UK at least! Also copyright 1991 I get, but why 1994 and 1996 specifically?

If I saw this whilst at E3 2006 I would be quite hyped up based on the different gameplay types and good looking cutscenes!

Given the graphics on show, we could have had some entirely different Sonic games on the Nintendo DS, but perhaps with better gameplay than that!
