Amazed by self-educated Sylvian’s audacity to tell great ture professionals, Czukay, Hassell, and Sakamoto what to do. And they were taking order from him happily. These people are conversant with classical music theory unlike him

Very interesting as a time capsule... (I can't help being very slightly distracted by unwillingly focussing upon the difference in David's accent over the years! It's interesting to hear Masami's speaking voice too... I would say that it has musical qualities in itself.)

Fantastic that this exists... Almost miraculous to see it so long after the album's release. Gone to Earth is my favourite album of all time and this is a very close second. What a delight (and relief!) it was when it appeared. I was horrified when Japan split, but from hearing Brilliant Trees could really see why David Sylvian wanted to/absolutely had to take his own path. I think it contains Jon Hassell's most lyrical playing too - Responding to the context seemed to pull something magical from his palette.

I was lucky to be at this concert Mick kept on doing his strange tip toe walk - they were very tight as a band, prior to the show in the foyer it was like a who's who of the Blitz club - happy days indeed this recording takes me right back - I even remember the tenko style lighting for some of the songs especially Ghosts

I love Dave's original London accent, I know he's changed it gradually, as most of us do, so I don't knock him for that. He's struggled with his self identity over the years but he was an icon to many of us, and wouldn't have been who he is now without who he was then.

Wow I'm dyin' a lil bit right now. This is so great. I love David and Ryuichi Sakamoto (RIP) but I could watch Holger Czukay all day noodling around in the studio. There's just not enough of him to watch anywhere that I could find. One day all we'll have is there sonic legacies and that's why I love stuff like this. Thanks for posting ❤😊. Oh, now I'm REALLY tweaking after watching Jon Hassell do that thing he does with his hands to his mouth.... I always thought that was an trumpet that was fed through some effects. Mind blown!! Japan was indeed a way of life, which is very Frippian of DS and co...look at Barbieri soaking up all the ambiance. Holger looks like he is fiddling with a sampler or rhythm box not sure.

"European son" is just an amazing song wich deserve to be listen again and again.

Nostalgia for the future and yet, in a way, a dread of the past; insomuch as this music makes me anxious about what may be happening in our times, that was foretold in many past works of art including this one, but has yet to fully come to pass , while I look fondly upon its strange and beautiful visions, dystopian though they were. Sorry haha, I'll put me pseudo- intellectual pipe out now and wig out again to this masterpiece!
