Been doing other shit. Got hust a few more videos to do for this then no more videoshere because I would have done all the dirt basics
"These are the same four chords I use most of the time" - Mountain Goats This dude: Hold My Beer 😎
A lot of bands use 4 chords, there are also a lot that use 3 but I aim still surprised how many songs that use just 2.
@@PunkGuitarlesson Oh definitely. My quote was from a pretty good Mountain Goats song called "I Always Thought You Were Cool". Just a D to a Bm to an Em to a G. (Edit) might be an A instead of Bm, been a while since I listened to their stuff.
I love the Gretsch, the Jim Dandy line are actually decent guitars. Your words are correct, also. Id be interested in hearing complete works...
Thanks Jeff. I had a dirty 30's at one point, I like parlor guitars as far as acoustic
Psychologist:"crystal methal isnt real, it cant hurt you" Crystal methal:
Never done it. Just taken bad care of myself. Good one though.
Doom!
Doom Metal!
Came with one of my brothers records. I like some of their shit, not the whole catalogue though.
Dawg just learn the pentatonic scale, where and when to apply it, and the techniques like bends and slide and where to have them. Then, you can play like 90% of lead guitarists. Then, learn the major and minor modes and boom you can solo on guitar.
I understand all that. Thisis for beginners, people just starting to mess around that don't want to learn scales yet. These videos are grate ways hopefully to getting people started. On top of that I am a rhythm player. I don't play solos all the time, The advice you are giving is right, but there are tons of people that have no interest in ever learning a scale, as a lot of people that can solo that can't twill you what notes were in what scale. There are different ways to get to the same results.
@PunkGuitarlesson nice rebuttal, the only thing I'd say is that the guitarists that can solo usually can tell you what notes they used and what notes are in certain scales. Without knowing the notes you're playing in a solo, you're essentially just noodling to most real musicians.
Hell yea simplicity is effective shit
Thanks. Just want to show people they can do a lot with a very little
How good are you with soloing? Genuinely. I wanna see what kind of licks you can make.
I am not a solo guy at all really. I mean I can write surf style stuff, I do fills, as far as solidsi have ever only written one that I played regularly. It's not that I can't, it is that iam a rhythm guy. That's what I like to play. With thrash type stuff fucking around sometimes I with throw solos in. With the current band there are no solos, that might change but the song is really going to need one for me to put one in when I am worrying simmering that isn't just for the fun of it. I might do a video coming up thoughwhere I do it just to show even better.
thats almost as punk as it gets, love it 🙏🔥
Thanks. Just trying to show you can do a lot with a very little
John Petrucci wheb he still hasnt taken his morning coffee
Haha nice. I haven't heard tray one before. Caught me off guard.
Lawyers gums and money is all d a and e
Had no clue
A tuner really does help though. I’m really not trying to be a jerk. Being out of tune is just super easy to do.
Or was got as shit when I recorded it. The thing couldn't stay in tune especially with that humidity
a lot of nirvana songs are only a few chords too!
Net been a nirvana fam but that makes sense
@@PunkGuitarlesson yup and they made some of the most influential music ever
They have. Not for me but for a hell of a lot of people they are. It just shows what can be done with little.
Love that you're rocking the budget friendly Jim Dandy. Music gor the masses. D.I.Y. till I die.
I don't drop a lot of money on instruments honestly. I realized price doesn't. Necessarily make something good
Thanks for the ideas 💡
Not a problem.Glad it is useful.
I Melt With You is just F and C for the entire song, except for the short bridge
I do not know that song but will take your word for it.
Like 20+ dead songs only use 2 chords
That doesn't surprise me at all. Never been into the dead but I have known plenty of people who are and even though Garcia could play for real sometimes he went super simple to which is cool.
Garcia was a guitar protoge who’s solos and technically adversity’s challenge even the best guitarist out there
I aim not a dead fan, you are right though here could pally play .
But not Althea 😈
@@DustyNonya yeah I’m mainly talking about most of the jam sections in dark star, fire on the mountain, cold rain and snow, the other one, bird song, eyes of the world, Bertha… etc
Thankya for your insight an creativity man!
Not a problem. Just trying to show our is easier than people think.
This video was very helpful the way you simply explained what you were playing by plucking the top string then strumming then hitting the two bottom strings opened my mind to how simple this can really be Thankyou
Not a problem. People like to overt complicate playing. I know I did for almost 2 decades. Glad it helps.
Do you have any tips on switching between chords?
I do. I did a fast chord change video, the thug is of you are using power chords out is small movements meaning you barely raise your fingersers from the strings that way there isn't at repositioning really, it is just more placing than anything. If you are using power chords and switching from the top steering to the second , keep you hand in tree same positing and barely change your hand position. Remember your fingers travel a lot less than what your body wanted them to especially in the beggining.
beard looking majestic
Thanks.
Assuming I have usable brain cells was your first mistake! lol
@@JayDee-Plantnosher I never assume I do either man, people are a lot more capable usually than they think though
@@PunkGuitarlesson trying my hand at humor. Missed the mark. Lol
@@JayDee-Plantnosher you made me laugh some with it honestly.
What guitar do you use?
The one on the video is a gretsch jim dandy
@@PunkGuitarlesson thanks
Not a problem
Man get you a good digital tuner. Then you can use your phone/laptop/tablet or whatever and you can look up “backing tracks in A “ (or whatever key you want” Then you can play along with a rythym guitar and bass
Exactly. I just secured to show supple techniques and all that to get peoplestarted. You are right
Id love to see this video on electric guitar
I might do one that one way to
The strings are universally labeled highest to lowest. Not lowest to highest. High E is 1st string, B string is 2nd string, G string is 3rd string, D is 4th string; A is 5th string and low E is 6th strings. It’s important to use these conventions if you’re making these to teach beginners Kuz then they’ll go somewhere else and just be confused.
I know am toss. These videos are for beginners.
@@PunkGuitarlesson I know they’re for beginners. That’s what I said in my original post. Important to use these conventions for beginner Kuz then they’ll get confused hearing string numbers labelled one way and then when they go somewhere else to learn something else suddenly the strings are labelled another way and they’ll be confused. Minimizing confusion is most crucial for beginner.
I understand where you were comming from. I have taught people before that honestly have no clue about the string names, chord names or anything like that, I have told and showed them multiple times and they still have no clue and when I mention them it just confuses them. I know people they can play well that this applys to as well. Trash is why I don't do it in these beginner videos. Sure I could go through standards running and where ask the notes are on the neck along with note names, why a 2 finger putter chord works with just 2 notes hours it is just a double stop really. The fact that 2 strings down and 2 greys down is the same note as the to one in a power chord so we of yippy are using 3 greys thou were stroll just playing 2 notes. That if you remove the top finger from a 3 note per chord you are basically just playing an up stroke but strumming down since thou have generated the order of the notes when you pick them. None of this is needed knowledge especially for someone just starting out. I didn't bother to learn any of that four at least ten years after I started pleading. By then I was already writing songs, Playing shores, recording albums. The strong madness have honestly confused people more when I have taught them then the string numbers and the way I show things. It is odd I know. When I taught my brother, I never told him string names, chord names or anything like that, you knife what though one of the first things he did was a slide, then string changes, all on day one. You knitted what he can do though, he is primarily a bass player, but can play power chords as well. He can play as part of a band can learn hire to play stuff by watching someone's hands, can pick up what is going on in a live situation, be Annie to jam something by following what the guitar player is doing. That's all a lot of beginners are looking for.
My dude, please do some practicing and have it down before you post instructional videos. Good effort, but poor execution.
@@jackarmistead5353 I doing really plan anything besides tree techniques showing anyone can do it. These are mainly videos for beginners, the techniquesare the important things not what I actually play. If it we're about what is actually being played and not the techniques then sure. I summ coming up with what I summ showing on the fly 99 percent of the time honestly as far as playing in these videos
Guitar?
@@Guitarcovers4u569 yes
i mean what is the model?
@@Guitarcovers4u569 o, ok. Jackson dinky. This is my back up it is a shorter skale people might consider it a kids guitar but it works just fine. My main is a magnum sg knockoff that I need to get a new set up done on

Dope shred bro!
Thanks. Hopefully it helps some.
Oh i didnt know surf stuff was like the same as black metal
It is similar, I just showed some say ways, but surf is similar to it somewhat inspired a few other genres
Thank you maestro 🤟🏼
Hopefully it helps. It is fun to play this kind of shit.
Thanks for the informative vid and I like tht green axe brother
Thanks. Hopefully it helps some. I play on standard but drop d canbe fun from time to time
“Just really small movements with your picking hand” bros using his whole shoulder 😭 lil more meth and you got it 🤘
I was not using my shoulder. It was mainly wrist actually. The train for the shoulder movement was more of positioning since I was sitting on a couch at the time. When I play, especially when I play fast my hand is pretty much glued to the body of the guitar to the point where I put holes in my picking wrist from playing. That is due to the wrist rubbing since it is stationary as far as height but changes position some due too how the hand moves. Playing from the shoulder is fine but it wears on you fast. Playing from the shoulder at a fast pace it's really hard to do anyway honestly especially due to micro movements of you are just hitting 2 strings at tyre same time. The hand and wrist are a lot more capable of doing this at a much faster and controlled pace. This is from years of experience and trying to play fast from the shoulder in the past. If someone can do that, awesome but thier shoulder is going to be screwed possibly for life of they did that for any real length of time especially over the course of years, but what do I know, I aim only around 40, been Playing fast stuff in bands off and on for 20 years, talked to guitar players I respect that have said what I aim saying now, along with standing up front at shows and studying what the guitar player was doing. I have no problem someone coming at me when what I say is wrong but this time I know for a fact what I said was right.
@@PunkGuitarlesson brotha, I just watched most of your vids… There’s no way you’ve ever been in a real band 😭 I’ve played two years and I can play circles around you. Ik it’s impossible to relay anything to drug addicts, but you’re not that guy… not at the slightest. But hey, you’re having fun so what am I to say… all the stuff you’re “teaching” are things any normal player teaches themselves the first 6 months of playing cover songs… I’d love to see your response to this 😂
@@kylanmccrary4420post a short I don’t think u can play anything better
@@Al-ks2ym lmfaoaoao. You think he’s good? Even decent? That’s shit anyone learns their first day on guitar brotha 😭 but you know what, I will most definitely do that tomorrow. Bouta go to bed but I will tmr afternoon 😂 can’t believe I’m entertaining this buffoonery…
I can play stuff better.these videos are for beginners. As far as bands go. Written with blood which is a hardcore brand from the Detroit area I am on half the record on bass and the hidden track is about me. S.g.s from Detroit from around a decade ago. I was one of the founding members of EKG they still play some of the stuff I wrote. Buttlock, a joke ok babe from adout 15 years ago. Broken teeth, founding member of broken teeth from Detroit which was a hardcore band. Currently in ratbastard. Wreckless fate around 16 or 17 years ago, played the outfits last show ever on bass.
Wow. Playing that fast like its nothing
@@DudeThedudesky been Playing off and on for twenty years. I might not be the best but I am fast as hell, my brother says I play to fast all the time. With bad chords it can be eat to play fast though since it can be mainly finger flipping.what I mean is just basically throwing your fingers at the neck and away from it in a rythm
Thanks for this recommendation RUclips! Will be trying this one out.
Hopefully it helps some.

The train I didn't get inn it from the start was problems with the electric not breaking up on the videos due to volume but I got it figured out luckily
Yes bro
Hopefully it helps some
Hell ya bro
Playing fast was fun and that is why I love old-school hardcore. I would love to do a video on howto play like the state but I aim nowhere hear as good as thier original guitar player he is a freak of nature.
hell yeah
Hopefully it helps some. I remember using hating to do full chords like that when I started
