Get to know the Mudbelly Teachers as they share artistic insights and vital techniques
Mudbelly Ceramics studio began as a research outlet for artist Phoebe Collings-James’ pottery practice, and has since grown to encompass an online shop and a roaming teaching facility offering free ceramics courses for Black people in London, taught by Black ceramicists. Responding to a personal and collective desire to learn alongside people of African and Afro-Caribbean descent, it is our belief that intentional spaces like this are needed, in an overwhelmingly white and classist industry in the UK, to disrupt the multifaceted access barriers which are caused by endemic racism. We are excited by the holistic potential of ceramics, recognising the therapeutic and spiritual benefits of working with clay and the profound possibilities of learning alongside one another.

a Very good demonstration, with clear definitives so that we could 'see' each stage and the necessary changes - for centering, pulling up with the knuckle, and gaging the wall thickness, with a rib to remove the excess outside slip. Thank you for your clear outline of the steps.
What a great informative video, making these important stages so doable.thank you
This is such a good video.
I feel like I just witnessed magic.
Thank you! I feel like I understand more about what is happening on the wheel than I did before.
