How to use plastic joints in crochet amigurumi
Просмотров 20 тыс.8 лет назад
A little tutorial on using the plastic joints in crocheted amigurumi, as requested by my sweet friend. The pattern used in this tutorial is by Mary Smith and can be purchased here www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/piper-the-panda-and-bentley-the-bear The joints used in this tutorial was ordered from 60/60 on etsy. You can find them here www.etsy.com/shop/6060
Thank you that really helped I have been crocheting since I was 12 yrs old
Thank you for this! Such a cool idea!!
Great video!!❤ thanks ☺️
How do you know what size of plastic pieces to join to get
Thank you❤
Kim you have explained this better than anybody I have watched! I love how you explain every step. You rock girl!
I need help figuring out where to stick and alter pattern if magic ring isn't usable for head joint (horse head so magic ring begins and ends back of head to jaw) so I'd have to create opening in the rows
OMG .. thank you sooooo much! I've been going crazy wondering HOW do I DO this??? Lifesaver
Should all the joints come with washers? I just purchased my first ones on Amazon and they did not have a washer and the backs did not fit.
I'm not sure if they all come with washers. I'd definitely return them if the backs don't fit!
My character map doesn't have all the fonts on my Design Space and when I find one that matches, the only flourishes I can choose from are glyphs of ff and fl. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Make sure when you are in the fonts in DS to click on system so you are only searching fonts on your computer and not seeing Cricut fonts. Also, not all fonts have extras. Check out fontbundles.net for some really nice freebies!
Just an FYI to everyone -- Download Character Map UWP from google - It is much larger
Omg thank you for this ive been looking for ages for a windows way to doing swashes . Thank you 🥰
I was searching for help to view the font options in Novemeber 2021 and Maintype did the trick! it was easy to read and copy/paste into design space. Thank you fuor this video! ~ Happy Crafting ~
I just purchased a large amount of these, safety eyes and teddy bear fur from a lady. This video helped me out a ton!

Thank you so much! I made a baby yoda.... when I'm done I'll share it. I have 1 that I did without joints.... prototype I call it. This one will have joints.
What size is that. There are a ton of joint sizes. I dont know MM that well. I have smaller ones but what size is that for the head
Thank you for taking the time to help out other Cricut fans like my self. I wasn't able to use the past button in design space so thank you for including the CTRL + V in your video . i can now use all the feautures with the fancy fonts.
you probably dont care but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Moses Jonathan instablaster ;)
@Khari Shepard i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Khari Shepard It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy! Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Moses Jonathan You are welcome =)
I have heaps but all my packets only come with two parts the long bit and the lock bit and no matter what I do cant push the parts together I have a toll that's ment to help but it is hard to use lol.are they all are they all ment to come with three bits?
Very helpful, thank you!!
Where can I buy it
Awesome joints
When you add the "snap" part of the joint (after the washer) does the flat side of this go against the washer or the fabric of the item? Or does it matter? Thank you!
Had no idea that existed. Surely, will make a huge difference. Any suggestions for doll spines? Thanks fire sharing. I like & subscribed!
❤️️❤️️❤️️ wow! I never knew this. Thank you.
What a great video! I'm so happy I found you. :) I've had a terrible time understanding "Contour" but now I've totally got it.
I'm so glad it was helpful to you! Once you understand it, it's really easy! Happy crafting! 💖
I use this but a friend brings it to me from overseas as we don't get it in South Africa. When you order it and it comes into the country, it gets stolen as the packaging is so small. 5 items of mine was stolen that I ordered from Wish. Your work is lovely.
Great tutorial!! Very helpful! Contour was one thing that I was always nervous to try out for some reason lol. I just subscribed to your channel and I would love it if you checked out mine! :)
Thank you! Sorry about the sound quality! I'll definitely check out your channel! Thank you for subscribing!!
So much helpful information in here! I now computer noise can be a pain but we all cant afford a new one! Hopefully....in the future ;) Great video it really helped with my cricut projects!!!
Thank you so much! You are so right! A new computer just isn't in the cards for now! I'm glad you were still able to enjoy the video and learn something new. Happy contouring!! 😁
Bought a load of doll joints on Amazon and naturally they came with no instructions! So thank you!! So very clear and easy to follow. Appreciate info too on where you purchase yours, will look for that company for future purchase
Lynda Steinbrecher I'm so glad I was able to show just how easy they are to use! I think seeing it makes it so much easier to understand! 😊
What sizes did you use? Omg you saved me
The joint for the head is a 45mm joint and for arms and legs 30mm joints. I went with the size joints the pattern called for :) I imagine it depends on the size of your project. This is the only jointed project I've tried. Mary's pattern was super easy to follow and I'm glad I tried it. She took the anxiety out of working with them for the first time! Super easy!! I wish jointed amigurumi dolls were more popular with the designers, but that wont likely happen until crocheters are less intimidated to try them. Hopefully my video has helped reduce the fear of them!
I have made tons of crochet amigurumi...I'm busy making a doll now that requires plain old uttons as the joints (buttons must go on the inside of the body from the looks of it - I dunno the instructions on how to put the buttons in etc aren't too clear) which I've never done before. I've always sewn the head, limbs, tail to the body and it's not easy and a pain. So I decided to turn to my faithful ol' RUclips for help (it's where I learnt to crochet 😘) with button-on-the-inside joints and came across your vid and a few others using these doll joints and I'm loving idea. And like you say, they're posable this way. Now I'll have to go out and buy some doll joints and give it a go, it'll definitely lessen the amount dreaded sewing we all hate so much AND it looks a lot neater with the joints. But for now...since its evening here in South Africa, I'll have to find a video showing the use of plain buttons as joints, on the inside of the doll. *Sigh* why haven't I been doing this for all my Amigurumi? 😣 Thank you so much for your video, you've got me convinced 🤗 (however I might just add, that doll joints aren't that cheap I would imagine?)
I did a quick search and this looks like a good tutorial on using various types of joints, including buttons :) ruclips.net/video/nLYltxUflqg/видео.html
Kimberly Neubauer Thank you very much 😚
Vanessa Correia You are very welcome 😊
Vanessa Correia Doll joints are very reasonable, at least in the US. No more than grabbing a cup of coffee to go!
Kimberly Neubauer Heheheh! Thanks Kimberley 😎 A large cuppa coffee here in South Africa, at one of our famous (standard) fast food restaurants is about $2. Is that about right?
Where can I find these plastic joints? (By the way nice video!)
In the description. Click on Show More to find the link :) Thank you very much! Have a wonderful day.

I found some at Hobby Lobby, if you have one close to you check it out. They are .99 cents for a pair of joints.
Wonderful tutorial... It is so easy to understand... and not to mention easy to see. The lighting is just perfect! Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad it was helpful! I was quite nervous! Hahaha 😂
