Agreed. Bob Costas is a little full of himself nowadays, but he was great on these intros. Same goes for Brent Musberger, and my favorite Dick Enberg. They all did great intros. I miss them.

I miss when games weren't talked to death pre-game. You had time to think and reflect/get excited about the matchup and that's what made video packages like this impactful.

Wow, I can't believe this was 32 years ago, something so different about sports in the 80s & 90s, NBC,CBS & ABC all had there own brands, but they were all unique & special! I'd love more than anything for the Finals back on NBC! Now we're stuck with ESPN, ugh!
I have to agree with you 100%. I graduated high school in 1991 and this era takes me back to the days of my last year of high school and Undergraduate college days. I can say that both CBS and NBC had the best NBA intros. Additionally, we saw the two bitter rivals---the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls---destroy the NBA Championship dreams of several teams and superstars.
Is that John Paxson next to Karl Malone? Everybody that was in the original version of this intro is here, except for Magic Johnson, who retired after the 1990-91 season.
The year I was born. Its crazy looking at this and realizing things were so much better in the world back then
Bob Costas, supreme story teller
That was 25 years ago 1999 NBA Finals NYK vs. SAS
This intro reminds me of the Tatum/Brown Celtics as the media has treated them the same as they did this Blazers team
"a little short" Yeah I'm gonna have to disagree with you there buddy. Wilt was actually very tall
Costas is so good at getting casual fans to care.
When the NBA was real NBA on NBC
Who still gets goosebumps from listening the intro
What year ago?
ABC is ass
ABC is not losing the NBA … TNT is
The video is very good. Support the author.
Oh man, the memories!
happy
Those Costas' essays followed by the NBA on NBC theme always got me PUMPED! NBC needs to bring that back if they get the NBA license again.
i like watch it
love
Something about the NBA at this time just felt bigger, maybe the music, the production, maybe it's my nostalgia, I don't know.
Coming soon, the NBA returns to NBC.
This was 🏀...

R.I.P. Jerome Kersey, Cliff Robinson, and Kevin Duckworth
And Wayne Cooper.

Shooting the ball like hot potatoes
I was 9 when this series got played now I’m 41 an the blazers still haven’t been back to the finals
I miss the storylines in the introduction by Bob Costas

i think during 90s, that Red laser sound is what people/editors are proud of.
Epic Into by Costas. Wonder who wrote his intros. Was it himself?
Brent Musburger pioneered that style in the NBA, Bob Costas was the best to ever do it
Jordan>>>lebron
This is before Leflop ruined the NBA
zoom4
This was a terrible NBA Finals, no real competition and Portland was just waiting to lose and help Jordan win.
Lmao they didn’t help Jordan do shit 😂😂😂 you probably was a clown Knicks fan or pacer fan at the time
That's not paxson it's Chris Mullins

This is when the NBA was at its greatest. Real men playing real basketball. Period.
I miss this NBA, I can't stand today's NBA.
@@hectorlopez1069 Thank god they've finally eliminated "marginal contact" fouls. Maybe teams can play real defense again...
Back when sports were regal ...
Riley still mad at PJ over that block
When the NBA was real
Why is he so far away from the free throw line ???
Probably because Wilt is known for having inhuman strengh so he had to take a litlle more distance
Shaq should’ve took notes
Wilt was like 50% for his career. Why would anyone take notes? 🤷♂️
As was the style at the time

That's Chris Mullin of the Golden St Warriors
Which theme do yall think was better NBA On cbs 1973-1990, or NBA on NBC 1991-2002
Nba on nbc for me at least. Fair question
@@JK-ii6gf I agree with you!!
Nobody did the NBA like NBC, TNT is currently carrying the torch for the NBA anything's better than those nitpickers at ESPN
Put This Game On NBA TV Hardwood Classic On TV
Man please Mike went off for three after three after three.....Jordan for three YES...
NBC is going to bid the NBA contact in 2025.
Great news, music to my ears😁👍🏽
NBA belongs to NBC. Period! In 2025 they’ll be reborn.
