I like how Unicorn Gundam seem to took inspiration from this. I mean the Unicorn gundam pushing the garanceir seems not just a homage to the CCA. But maybe also on xenogears where Fei, Rico and Elly were stopping a ship from dropping to Kislev.
Also there a Gundam that Greatly resemble the Weltall.

I know it's just.........ANIME MECHA reasons.....but WHERE ARE ALL THOSE OTHER PARTS STORED? All the pods do in the back is open up so the additional parts can't be stored there! They are releasing a Bring arts figure of the ID and it shows it gets enough mass to be almost 1.5 X the size of the Welltall! For the sake of my sanity I'm just going to say it pulls a Guyver and stores the other parts in a alternate dimensional pocket till they are needed
The original artbook sketches are much more reasonable in the transformation than the more streamlined Weltall ordinary mode winds up looking in the game, but the legs are in two pods on the back of Weltall, along with the arm covers. Id-Weltall's wings are about half the size of Weltall's regular back pods and it doesn't have the giant armor situated between the pods like Weltall's regular mode as well. So it's *sort of* still there, but definitely more obvious in the original line-art designs from the art book.
The arms gauntlets and legs are stored on its back just between the two normal welltall wings, as you can see like the head, the Welltall id mode is just an expanded size of welltall..it doesn't carry mass, just merely another layer/cover more like boots or gloves..and Welltall ID is supported by monstrous amount of pure energy..so no matter if the gear is like 30% hollow/expanded, it already demonstrate his energy is over the chart that lifted yggdrassil without direct contact, just purely monstrous energy!

Even though this is an old comment, not even in Gundam was it ever original. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, 2006. Xenogears, 1998. Mobile Fighter G Gundam, 1994.
