What mods done to get into the 12s I have E85 tune boss mani intake exhaust
@svtgrizzwall1997 On the 12.93 and 12.96 passes, the truck has a 5 Star e85 tune on the 2nd revision from the datalogs, 2MFAB Y pipe, JLT CAI, Velossa Tech big mouths, unported Boss 302 intake, single 3 inch exhaust with a Jones Resonator and a knock off Magnaflow muffler and Black Rhino Madagascar 20x9 wheels weighing 29.8lbs per wheel. Tires are Yokohama Geolander X-CV 255/50r20, W rated. The truck is slightly lowered via OEM 2wd front strut assemblies and 2 Inch drop shackles in the rear. I also removed the 4wd spacer blocks. Stock exhaust manis, stock 3.55 gears. I live at 500ft of elevation so at 29° my DA was very good.
@ your truck is 4x4 then okay that makes sense on a better launch
@svtgrizzwall1997 Louis Marquez has had very good success running light weight 17'S and small tires. But his truck is slammed, and doesn't look goofy with tiny tires. My truck is off highway on rough mountain roads alot, so I can't go slammed and small. However, I tried these shorter 17s and it didn't help. But the temp was warmer but not alot? I thought it was going to be quicker. The 17 inch setup was not much lighter, maybe 5lbs each. My X-CV's were 75 percent wore out, total weight of each wheel and tire was 62lbs. Thats not very heavy for 20s. I put new tires on today, back up to 67lbs each. The fastest this truck ever went is when it had the 2.7 Ecoboost motor in it, modded and tuned. It had the same Black Rhino Madagascar wheels but had 30 inch Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 plus tires in 255/50r20. Those tires weigh 30lbs each brand new. They weighed 26 worn down.
@svtgrizzwall1997 Lois Marquez truck is also gen 3 Coyote and a 10 speed.
@svtgrizzwall1997 Yes sir, 4wd. But it ran a 13.44 in 2wd in poor weather and before the Boss Intake. Low rpm shifts. I figure it would do better now in 2wd with a decent launch.
Hell ya brother all most into the 12s take off the spare tire that would do it
@juanbotello7940 It ran 12s with the 20's, it was slower on the 17s.
That truck is ripping. I have a 16 expedition. It is a turd. I only got a 14.5 at 92 or 93 at the track. Im wishing I got an F-150.
@TractorTech I mean, thats not bad for an Expedition but they really make a big jump with a 5 Star e50 tune and a few bolt ons with the 3.5 Ecoboost
@lil2.74 I had a 5 star E30 tune when I ran that. You could only run E30 on a gen 1 3.5 without fuel system upgrades. I was leaving in 4wd and brake boosting.
How fast is the quarter mile? 1000 feet means nothing to us
@latenite3931 I posted several videos the next day of 2 seperate passes. 12.93 and a 12.96.
@latenite3931 And there are thousands of 1000ft and 1/8th mile drag strips across the country. Thats why dragy post those numbers, those numbers mean alot to MOST. As does 60ft, and zero to sixty. The 60ft is very poor at the moment. If that 60ft were 1.80 instead of 2.0, it would be high 12.50's to low 60's in the quarter mile. I intended to post the quarter mile but forgot to reset it in the dragy. Summer testing was 1/8th mile only. Thank you for watching.
Always wondered how the 5.0 6r80 would do with 4.10 gears? Those 3.55 are great all around gears 3.73 move out too.
@RustyShackle-v9u In the future I "might" consider a gear swap. I need to improve the 60ft. That 2.0 is terrible, this truck cut 1.72-1.75 back when the 2.7 was in it. If it cut a 1.80 with the current engine it would run 12.50's-12.60's. Maybe long tubes and a stall?
Besides y pipe stock exhaust? Thank you for the 6r80 2nd gen content. Sick of the 10r80 crap.
@RustyShackle-v9u The 2.5 inch resonated mid pipe was removed in favor of a 3 inch pipe with a Jones Resonator. The stock muffler was cut off and replaced with a knock off Magnaflow with the factory tailpipe. Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching. Ya the 10R80...blah, blah, blah. I love the 6R80.
Nice man love to see the results with 17s 1/4 mile pass
@juanbotello7940 I did, in another video the next day. 17s with a short 29 inch tire. Earlier that day, I did another pass on 20s with the quarter mile turned back on. Then I went and installed the 17s. Oddly it was slower. The temp had went up 15 degrees but I am still confused by the results. This truck used to have a 2.7. It was modded and beaten and I blew it up at 228K. I bought a junkyard Coyote swap complete with wiring and instrument cluster, transmission etc. My PB was a 12.46 on a 1.72 60ft. Tuned Ecoboost have bonkers torque at low rpm for rediculous launches. Sure wish I had those 60fts back, this thing would really lay down some ets. Just a 1.80 would put it in the high 12.50s. It ran a 12.93 and a 12.96 yesterday on the 20s with a 31.7 diameter tire. Ran a 13.01 on the 17 and a 29.1 inch diameter tire.
@lil2.74 i been watching your videos good stuff man.. it's moving really good for being all motor and being a full size truck.. are you in 4x4 when doing this lunches?
@juanbotello7940 yes sir but I also did a few 2wd pass videos earlier on. 2wd on the street with all season tires does not work very good on a heavy front bias vehicle. 13.44 was the best I think but that was also pre Boss Intake and 7000rpm. But 60fts were terrible and it spins worse now. At the later stages of first gear it just blows off the tires and burns both all the way through 2nd even with a gentle launch. So I am leaving 2wd alone now unless I go to a track with some sticky tires. Using the 4wd does really kill the big end power. But better 60ft makes it quicker.
@juanbotello7940 and thanks for taking interest in my vids,I really do appreciate it.
get this dude a 10R80
No. 10R80's are junk.
I am quite fine with the 6r80. Prior to the Coyote swap, this truck ran a 12.46 in the quarter mile and a 3.98 zero to sixty with a 2.7 backed up with a 6R80. Arguably, it was the fastest stock turbo/stock fuel system Supercrew 2.7 in the country. Certainly faster than any stock turbo Supercrew 2.7 with a 10R80 on utube. And here we are again with a port injected Coyote, without dual injection and backed by a 6R80 laying down impressive numbers with very little $$$$ effort or any weight reduction.
@@lil2.74 6R80 is just a better trans in general. I can be built up and last a long time. 10R80's break, built or not.
Great job brother and awesome work getting that coyote all worked out. Ive always been an LS guy and still am but these things are proving to be absolutely unstoppable
@etrain783 Thank you for the comment. Nothing wrong with LS, proven platform!
now you just need some cheap ebay headers
@dakotajones8010 I have certainly thought about some 2MFAB longtubes. But I need to get that 60ft bettet. It is killing my et.
@@lil2.74 ET or not that trap speed is not doing you favors u need more juice. those truck manis are hot dog water for flow
@@dakotajones8010 Thanks for the information. I will definitely keep that in mind. I know longtubes definitely make a difference.
Still got a 12 second truck even after the swap! but i wonder what a 2wd launch on a dragstrip would get for time
Because people have tried to tell me that 4wd kills your power
@jarinjohnson9172 I agree, 2wd launch and a sticky tire. I mean, if I could just do something about the terrible 60ft the ets would be alot better even turning all that extra driveline the whole way. I thought a shorter tire would help out of the hole but I tried that today and it didn't work.
Hot damn! You're in 12's Man nice job Incredible bang for your buck Awesome journey with this new motor so far
Thank you sir, I am pretty darn happy how this has turned out.
And thanks for watching my vids. Hows your truck running?
@lil2.74 You think the Y pipe really gives any gains ?
@Highlander1432 Go to the 2M Fabrication website and look at thier longtubes and y pipe. They have an expected gain for each, depending on variables. The gain for the y pipe wasn't that much less than the longtubes. So yes, I believe it helps tremendously especially if you are going to be turning 7000 plus rpm. I think the combination of the Y pipe and Boss Intake definitely made a big difference. There is a guy on you tube called Boss Awesome. He has a 10 speed regular cab. His truck progressed over time but if you watch the mods list in the description, his truck did very well on a Y pipe before going longtubes.
@lil2.74 Yeah I would like to get the longtubes but the install is a real pain in the a$$. Truck is running good. I tested my local E85 and it's E70. I might run the E85r tune from Preaux he sent me. I need to get more runs in now!
damn what tune
@aib150 5 Star e85 tune on the 3rd revision after the Boss Intake Install. Our e85 has been testing to only be e68 however.
What was the DA on that run ?
@@Highlander1432 negative 1500
@@Highlander1432 according to dragy
@lil2.74 Ok cool man I don't know how accurate Dragy is. It'll give some strange DA #'s sometimes
@@Highlander1432 the 4.87/8.57 pass with the truck intake was at 1000. But the truck intake pass was also on shorter tires.
@lil2.74 Ok nice I'm having trouble finding empty flat roads here to do tests. Really bugging me
Wow man that manifold made a big difference!
Quarter mile?
@jarinjohnson9172 I addressed that in the full length video...I forgot to go back and add the quarter mile in the selections on the dragy. I was bummed, I wanted to see. But I have to assume based on the other times, it broke into the 12s. Planning on try it again in the morning, this time with the quarter mile on.
@jarinjohnson9172 It would be way deep into the 12's if the 60ft wasn't so bad. The truck cut a 1.72 with the crazy launch torque of a tuned Ecoboost but only 2.01 here. Thats roughly a .58 difference in quarter mile et. If this combo could come out of the hole like it used to, it would outrun the 2.7's 12.46.
Let ‘er rip
Stock unopened 170K Port Injection only 5.0 Coyote and 6R80 transmission with 3.55 gears. Rolling on 20's and full weight. 5 Star e85 tune, 2MFAB Y PIPE, Boss 302 Intake and JLT CAI. Stock 3 inch exhaust pipe with a knock off Magnaflow muffler and a Jones Resonator welded in.
The BOG camera has some great color. The sound/audio has hardly any hiss (it sounds great). Thanks for sharing. How long did you need to leave the camera out to get such great footage?
@pookinsp2324 I love the BOG, Clandestine and Blood Moon. Unfortunately BOG decided to discontinue trail cameras. Hard to say how long it takes, I run 16 cameras and start working to find mature bucks in late may. Checking and moving until I find what I am looking for. Hard work climbing mountains throughout the summer but well worth it. By the way, the video quality is deminished when transferring to Utube, they are even better right off the card to your phone or computer. Thanks for watching.
How you liking it so far?
@MaxEffortMedia At first I was kinda wishing I would have stayed with the truck intake manifold. The tune revision had issues, but it had something to do with the Boss Intake and the SCT tuner. The truck was a tad slower 0-60 and the 1/8th mile. So my thought was, I am turning the motor higher rpm to go slower? But as you know, 60ft is a big deal in et. Since the Boss doesn't make power down low, it hurt 60ft and it wasn't initially making enough power up top to overcome the slower launch. But it believe it has all been worked out and that the truck will now beat "maybe substantially" the previous best run with the truck intake which was 4.86 zero to sixty and a 8.57 1/8th mile. Which is pretty salty considering it was a 169K motor with a tune, cai and a high flow y pipe and custom exhaust. 169K isn't alot, but I have had a valve cover off, this motor wasn't maintained well. 100 times nastier than my 228K Ecoboost I owned since new. So I figure, the engine isn't performing as well as it would with a better condition Coyote. I have been meaning to post a new dragy video and see what she will do. Just haven't had time. But I will eventually get around to it. Now I am really glad I did it. 7400rpm sounds awesome and she is pulling really hard 5500 up.
@ port that bad boy if you haven’t already and you might need a converter that’ll help a ton
@MaxEffortMedia ya the converter would be nice. I was used to the low end torque of a tuned and modded Ecoboost making in the neighborhood of 500lbft at 3000rpm. A NA Coyote won't touch 500, especially down low. I commonly had 1.75 60ft with the stock gearing. I think the Coyote pulled off a best of 2.05, can't remember exactly. Thats huge. One strange thing about the converter in the Ecoboost, I could footbrake it to 3000 and launch. I can't get this converter past 2000. And this motor just doesn't make power down that low. Steeper gears would help too.
@MaxEffortMedia And that was a dragy 1.75 60ft which doesn't account for a 1ft roll out like drag strip timers. So at the strip, it would have been 1.60s I believe.
@@lil2.74 yeah the eco makes a ton more torque. Coyote different animal gotta rev it out to move out. I’ve watching your 2.7 content makes me want one for a daily bad 😂 im turning about 83-8500 rpm on my coyote mustang.
Good info brother Thanks man

What all needs to be changed for the swap ?
@whatchutalkinaboutwillis1899 That would require alot of typing. Fortunately I made videos on the entire swap that can be viewed on my channel. I feel, they are more thorough than others. Thank you for the comment.

Good info in here Manifold looks awesome under your hood You got tune revised right ?
Thank you sir. I appreciate the comment. The truck did get a tune revision but we are working out some shifting bugs. I sent out a datalog this morning.
Awesome Love having a truck that can do stuff like this
I forgot to mention that the visible blue plug is the plug to the left bank of the imrc. There is another blue plug below it that is for the right bank. My issue was in the left bank.
Nice man you got her running good!
Just installed a Boss Intake and a retune. This pass was pre Boss. Waiting for some cold weather to see what she can do. Even thinking about running some oe 17s.
@lil2.74 Man that is sweet. How bad was the Boss install ? I'm running Preaux tune with CAI on oem 20's. I'll make a dragy pass once it cools down. Hot AF here in GA all summer long Lol
@Highlander1432 I felt like it was easy overall. I made videos. 9 different shorts and one full length video.
@Highlander1432 Ya I did a dragy run on a 96° day and posted it. Heat index was like 107°. But my air intake temp was 130, so that 3000DA can be thrown out the window. Hot here in Oklahoma/Arkansas border too. Only 83 so far today but I want some 30s and 40s.
@Highlander1432 I would like to have some longtubes. Still on stock manifolds. But if and when I do anything else, I am going to do 3.91 gears. Help that slow 60ft time of tbis no bottom end torque 5.0 compared to the insane launches of a tuned Ecoboost. My best 5.0 0-30 is 1.97. Best 2.7 0-30 was 1.33...lol. 2.7 came out of the hole like a rocket.
What is your estimated wheel horsepower?
@jarinjohnson9172 Not really sure but with the Boss maybe 425whp. 18-20 trucks seem to hover around 450whp with CAI, Y PIPE AND BOSS. Longtubes and a 90mm TB get them to around 475whp. But they have both direct and port injection and one point higher compression. Mine making 425 may be overstated.
Does the 4wd actually disengage when you switch it under wot? I left it in 4wd the whole quarter mile run on mine
@jarinjohnson9172 Possibly if the truck is equipped with 4 Auto but mine isn't. I switch it off early so it will disengage when I get off throttle. I have even hoped it might disengage on a shift but mine seems to stay on until I have completely came off throttle and coasted a while. Spinning all of that extra mass robs power. But the gain in 60ft times makes it worth it in the end.
put the stock intake back on if you got it, that JLT is a hot air intake as it sits now
Waiting for dragy runs with the new intake manifold!
Still waiting for the retune for the manifold but should be any day. But I am probably going to hold off for some cool weather. Been doing runs in less than good temps. I think that the truck will pull off a 12.9
That would next level for a bolt-on 5.0, the flex fuel capability is a massive boost i guess
What tune do you daily? Just ran the 91perf/tow for a while, but im lovin the trans behavior with 91 performance
@jarinjohnson9172 I daily my e85 performance. I love the firm upshifts. But for me it is a bit unpleasant in town driving below 45. It keeps in lower gear turning more rpm. But I can push tow mode and the tranny upshifts way earlier for normal driving. This thing shifts crazy hard. 2nd gear scratches even with LSD take very little throttle. My transmission behind the 2.7 never had that firmness, for whatever reason. I had more horsepower and torque before but not the hard shifts.
@jarinjohnson9172 I will not net the full potential of the Boss Intake because I won't be willing to spin this high mileage engine to 7500rpm. But I will still make more power. 5 Star just recently raised my rpm to 6800 with the truck intake and it did feel better. That is the truck intake max, it falls on its face after that. The Coyote is running similar to my modded 2.7 on out there but its the holeshot power that is hurting it. Leaving at 2000 rpm it just doesn't have real power until 5000. So there is a delay at the launch. For some reason the 2.7s converter would let me leave at 3000rpm at probably 500lbft of torque. My best 0-30 in cold weather was 1.33. The 5.0 ain't gonna ever sniff that naturally aspirated. The 2.7 provided 1.5 seconds 0-30 always so great 60ft times. The 5.0 in warm weather is 2.0 plus 0-30 and 60ft. The 2.7 had 1.72 to 1.75 60ft. That is worth .50 et in tbe quarter mile over the Coyote launch.
For some reason it loaded double and triple takes on several videos when creating a movie. Sorry about that.
Man i was thinking about doing this too but it seems like a ton of hassle. I'll be watching for yoor progress on it

@joemonteirosportsshorts3343 You're probably right, I never tried that...lol.
Is it 4x4 ?
@pacific1565 it is but that obviously is a 2wd launch. But, I rolled into the throttle, obviously didn't get the tire spinning by holding the brake before taking off and my truck has posi track. It roasted those garbage NITTO. My 255/55r20 Geolander X-CV looks less impressive, hooks way better.
