Not sure if you shop lowes or home depo, but they sell BETTER GRO BAGGED ORCHIDS THEY HAVE ON CALLED BC SPOTTED CLOWN WHICH LOOKS LIKE YOUR FLOWERS BOT THE PETALS ARE A LIME GREEN WITH THE LIP BIENG A PINK/ PURPLE WITH SPOTS , ITS SOOO PRETTY. IT IS A CATTLEYA, READ THE TAGS IN POT TO SEE THE ACTUL ORCHIDS NAME ..BEAUTIFUL ORCHIDS. 😊

@@helenurquhart2375 Hi Helen - For a young plant you could try a mix of 2/3 small bark and 1/3 perlite. This will retain some moisture with good porosity so the roots get adequate air. I like using Net pots to speed drying and allowing extra air to get into the growing medium. I hope this helps. -Ed

I have many Epidendren growing outside all year around. I like the purples but also have a coupe orange flowers which are fantastic.

How do you get your moss to grow so luscious
I’m so glad ai found this. I just built our Palram canopy at greenhouse last month and I am trying to figure out how to make it work because it gets really hot over here in Salinas a put shade cloth in my greenhouse, but it still gets all the way up to 124 inside the greenhouse. I am afraid to put my orchids inside, so I’m trying to figure out how to make this work in this climate.
You might want to consider installing a misting system. On hot days (90F or hotter) my mist system is set to go on for one minute every two hours during the day. I lower my temperature by about 10-15F by keeping things wet. Along with fans to circulate air and increase evaporative cooling my plants do well in the summer heat. You will need to use reverse osmosis water for misting to avoid deposits of salts on your plants. We have plans to upload one or more videos in the near future on this FCOS channel detailing how to design and build a misting system.
Thank you so much for taking the time for me to enjoy the displays. The set up is nothing I've ever experienced. So many different orchids almost replicating the environment. I loved the tour.

Yes, dendrobiums take low temperatures. Here in Japan we have dendrobium nobile in the lower 20s with a dry sunny winter, some snow and permafrost. They don't mind a bit😌👍

Thank you for some ideas- Central Florida is perfect for growing orchids HALF the year; humid and wet! The rest of the year it's a struggle. I know where I can get some moss so you just made my life a little easier!

Wow..what a great plant! I saw one and couldn't find one at the time and was given some seed to try. I have 4-5 flasks full, and can see they will grow me out of space very quick!! Hope I get them that big & healthy looking!
