wow i never even knew about this before! I looked it up and saw pictures that resemble my Tyson quite a lot! Not sure if that also explains the longer coat, but definitely explains his bigger than average size!!

Haha Megan! I can assure you his attention span always goes as far as my treats pocket is full. After that, he has to be in a good mood to do things willingly :D He's more lazy now (almost 7 years later), especially in the summer, because of how hot it is outside.

Hey Kathiravan, i used a lot of positive reinforcement, and also used many tips from a channel called "Training positive". The guys who runs the channel has a GSD, and gives really great advice on how to train dogs. I used his technique and worked wonderfully on my Tyson :) give it a go and let me know how you get along!

I can't say for sure to be honest, when we took him to the vet they said they had seen rottweilers before with longer coats. but he's great despite his longer curls :D

@@alexisanglin I appreciate your opinion Alexis, and this likely is the case. However, even if not purebred (which I never thought he was), he's a great dog, and has all the traits of true rottie :)

Ann Barron you're very welcome ! Make sure to protect your hand somehow, with a glove or something, because they tend to use their paws to try to get to the treat from your fist, so he might scratch you :) I didn't think of that at first so ended up with a few scratches :) good luck! Thank you so much! it's just a matter of investing lots of time at the beginning and being consistent :) otherwise they become lazier when they're a bit older, and mine has the 'cannot be bothered with this' attitude :)))) haha

+Daniela Avramioti Hahaha!!! Your dog sounds like his/her own riot lol. Thanks for that advice. When you mentioned consistency, I take it that I must train her at least a few minutes every single day, right? Also, at what age of a Rottweiler is the best time they usually start learning more than 3 commands like your dog learned?

The Adversary haha he is. He has his own personality, acts like a human. Gets upset, smiles, has his cranky days :)) he's funny :) But yes, that is exactly what I mean. When he was young, I had my break from uni, so I had a whole summer free to train him. I used to do it even a few hours a day, but they also get bored, so incorporate play time in there too. I started teaching mine how to "sit" since the first day (he was 6 weeks old). Little things like sit, leave, are very good to learn early. If I had not taught him how to leave his food at an early stage (he was very jumpy and excited when he knew it was dinner time) he could knock us over and knock the bowl over. Now, when he weighs about 65-70kg, this comes in very useful, because he waits patiently for food to be put down before being given the "ok" to take it.

they are indeed! Barking on command was the most difficult trick to teach. We had to spend about half an hour staring at each other in silence, whilst i had a treat inside my fist. He would try to lick, bite, scratch, do anything to get that treat, until eventually(after about 30 mins) he got annoyed and growled, so I clicked my clicker and gave him the treat. He seemed to get it very quickly after that, and i just kept making the task harder, until he only got the treat if he barked :)

hey Doris, i trained him myself :) i used a RUclips channel called "training positive" which i found really helpful with certain tricks. :)

You really should. They are such wonderful, loyal and protective dogs. Really smart, but they do require lots of time, especially at the beginning before they grow full size.

there is a wire on the ground connected to the chain, that allows him to walk through the whole front yard. the chain only keeps him from reaching the bushes and flowers, because he destroys them :)

3rd Earth omg..!! yes.. when he walked off I thought.. he didn't make much of an effort to say a nice goodbye, and he didn't sing glass table girls. as I walked up the stairs he came back and I ran back down for my life loool!!! was insane!! it was just amazing! 😍

haha this is why i never leave before the lights go back on. I once attended a Stromae concert, and everyone was starting to leave, but the ones who stayed asked for an encore, and even though the band had left, the singer and a couple more backup singers performed "a cappella" style. Amazing!
