Ik getuig dat er geen god is dan Allah, de Ene zonder deelgenoot, en ik getuig dat Mohammed Zijn dienaar en Boodschapper is. O jullie die geloven, vrees Allah zoals Hij gevreesd behoort te worden en sterf niet anders dan als moslims. Tweede gedeelte: Amma ba’d: fa-inna khayral hadeethi kitaab Allaah, wa khayral hadyi hadyoe Moḥammad ṣallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, wa sharral omoori moehdathaatuhaa, wa kolla moehdathatin bid’ah, wa kolla bid’atin dalaalah, wa kolla dalaalatin fie al-naar. Betekenis: Daarna: de beste spraak is het Boek van Allah, en de beste leiding is de leiding van Mohammed (vrede zij met hem). De slechtste zaken zijn de nieuwlichterijen, elke nieuwlichterij is een dwaling en elke dwaling leidt naar het vuur. Dit is een standaardtekst, maar de inhoud kan variëren per moskee of imam.
