Tutorials about VSTs (synths and effects), but also clips about interesting questions about and around music. There will be some live recordings exploring new VSTs from time to time. Additional services like free downloads of software (concerning the production of music), presets, samples and waves etc. will be provided as well. Meant to help and have fun.
I´d be happy to transfer a bit of the experience of more than 40 year working with sound to you. A lot more services and information and news are available at my website dev.rofilm-media.net

14:15: an analog delay! They are awesome in their own way
37:00 what is the black device?
Berna 3 is a very special piece of software. A masterpiece from Giorgio. As Giorgio mentioned in this video, I am also very surprised a larger company such as Arturia or even Softube haven't done a similar thing to Berna.... A Berna 4 developed in collaboration with Giorgio, with scalable GUI and DAW integration (including host bpm support) would be a huge success I think.
Hey This is amazing. I recently found th holy grail that is Cherry audio! I can't believe that they can even come close to the real deal. I love using midi controllers, however I have not found a way to patch with using a mouse. That's my next thought. Anyway your product would be amazing on iPad, or kindle or whatnot. It's so Hugh quality and you deserve the loot for real. Cheers and thanks.
Thank you for your motivating words! I´m happy that you like and enjoy my work. The next one is already in the work. I´ll publish it in the second half of June. Cheers and peace! Rolf
Ahoy, the day after i watched this video i came across a discarded fluffy elephant (children's toy) on the road. i took it home and cleaned it, and now i will make a wind shield, a pink one! i probably would not of thought to do it if i had not seen your video. so thanks for that. I am a great believer in DIY projects, i am enjoying your videos, and i have a similar ideas to yourself. best wishes.
Thank you for your motivating comment! Enjoy your day! Cheers and peace! Rolf
wow I am not the only one ha ha
Great idea! Brilliant 😂
Thank you!
Mad scientist at work.🙂🙃🙂
I can't send the sound from the Neutron to my speakers via my sound card whereas with headphones I have no problem
Very interesting for me
Enjoy it!
I'm considering buying the Behringer 100 system even if my preference is the 55 system out of love for Tangerine Dream but some people advised me against it because of the delays for the oscillators to stabilize (more than an hour!)
I received my Neutron yesterday and I was lucky enough to come across your tutorial. Thank you and I will subscribe to your channel because I think I will have some questions to ask you. 👍🏻👋 from France.
Thank you for your nice words. Enjoy the machine! Rolf
Insta buy! I love messing with Voltage, and all new ideas are welcome.
Thank you!
This is a Gift indeed. To spend the rest of our lives to approach what's already in front of us is a disturbing hoax.
Looking forward to this. Thank you
Pure Magic! Thank you for sharing this incredible evolution from sea to sea. I appreciate your passion, love, and commitment.

👍👍👍 Thank you. Beautifully explained. Subscribed!
I know this is off topic but yuzo koshiro and motohiro did auto generated music with fm synthesis on a video game called the Streets of Rage 3 in 1994 for the sega genesis.
Do you know what helps. the carrier operators will always be the bottom and the modulators are on top.
I love your vídeos! ❤
Thank you! Enjoy your day! Rolf
I recognized organic from the fm immediately haha
How can i get the keystep sequencer (slave) to be triggered via midi by the elektron model samples (master)? Have the right cables and dip switches and even tried changing settings in midi control center but no luck!
Vielen Dank für Deine hervorragende Arbeit! Hat mich SEHR geholfen! Dziękuję!

You mention that this is *not* a low pass gate. But I don't understand why... Isn't a LPG a VCA + VCF?
To act as a LPG the gain and the cutoff frequency has to be modulated at the same time and to the same (or anyway fixed relation) amount.
@@rofilmmedia1 Interesting. And this could not be done using this module? What if I pass the same CV for the cutoff and for the amp?
Yes, of course. That would mimic an LPG perfectly. It doesn´t even need the SAME CV. You can simulate different kinds of LPGs that way. You can attenuate one CV channel, so that the filter and the amp close and open differently strong - as long as the RELATION is always the same. An interesting variant is modulating the cutoff with a 1V/oct characteristic, and the amp weaker or stronger - it gets a whiff of keyfollow then. There´s a lot more to say about it. You´ll find more on my website dev.rofilm-media.net Cheers and peace! Rolf@@al.cavalu
That's nice you seems very passionate about generative music. There is a desire to dive and explore generative music, but I have never composed music just wrote some simple synth in C++, but the whole field seems very interesting to explore. There is a question is there music to be discovered, a novel one ? Thanks for creating this video was a joy to watch end experience
Thank you for your motivating comment. Producing these e-books including legions of videos, presets, sounds files and graphics is a full-time job, and quite demanding an enterprise. I love it - I wouldn´t do it otherwise - but it´s indeed an gigantic amount of work. Cheers and peace! Rolf
That's nice really nice, I am exploreing generative music, writing my own synth. The couse seems like a high level one you have to know a lot of things to create something
Well, there are quite a few things you should know indeed. The most comprehensive introduction to making generative music is of course my e-book trilogy of nearly 1,000 pages, including legions of videos, presets and graphics. Nevertheless even quite a beginner will be able to follow this course - even if there´s a certain amount of enthusiasm needed then.
The firmware update issue is even worse. There's no way to get it done on my Win11 PC. Even with the correct driver, it will end up with an error. I had to use my old Win10 machine to update the Neutron. All other Behringer synths updated fine using Synthtribe.
Thanks for this video... You tell us how it all works clearly and stay well clear of 'youtuber bullshit' territory. I'm not sure how such a long video can still be so concise. Great stuff.
Thank you very much indeed for your motivating comment. Have you had the time to check by at my website dev.rofilm-media.net? You might like the topics there as well. Cheers and Peace! Rolf
This is brilliant. I've had this model for over a year and learned more in a few minutes than I have in all this time!
Thank you for your motivating comment. I´m happy that I could be a bit useful. By the way: You´ll find a lot of stuff like that on my website dev.rofilm-media.net . Enjoy your day! Rolf
Can't find the appropriate driver anywhere, not even on the Behringer website. I found the firmware update okay, but it says I have no driver.
Read the update documentation, they provide a link and instructions on how to do the update.
I’ve come back to this video many times when navigating my Neutron. You’re a great teacher! Appreciate the knowledge and the way you deliver it.
On my unit the Neutron just keeps indefinitely playing the last note played after you stop inputting anything via MIDI. So this is normal? Can you turn it off, or do you just need to turn VCA bias (or the Volume) completely down whenever you're not playing?
I'd be very excited to see that deep dive on that Day of the Dead DX7 patches! I had a brief talk with John Harrison at the Living Dead Weekend and he was incredibly nice :)
Well, nothing is impossible. Enjoy your day! Rolf
The quintessential guide to generative music making! 😌
Thank you Daniel! Have a great weekend! Rolf

Very cool! Contact microphones on such a surface are a great idea! 😮
Thank you Daniel! And compating the spectra of the recording using dynamic microphones with those delivered by the piezos is interesting as well - and these differences are smaller than I had expected in the shown situation. I´ll eventually make a short video about this topic as well.
Good Rolf! Have a nice day, and a nice oscillator!
Thank you Gustavo! Have a great time too!
and here is the promised link to download the software: sonosaurus.com/paulxstretch/ Get even more on my website dev.rofilm-media.net Enjoy your day! Rolf
👍
Wonderful!
Thank you! Very motivating comment! Enjoy your day - and this part as well as the second one, which is coming soon!
The channel is so underrated. I enjoy listening modular tutorials with deep tech knowledge in every smallest detail and calming intelligent speech. Thank you!
Thank you very much indeed for your motivating comment. I´ll try my very best - also on my website dev.rofilm-media.net. Enjoy your day! Rolf
How many Parts are in this Neutron series?
Hello Antony! There are only these 2 parts in the series so far. I make my living from what you see here (and on my website dev.rofilm-media.net). This means that what I produce depends on how the public reacts to my productions. If a video, a book, a sample pack etc. brings sufficient response I continue following the topic (writing another volume about it, or producing the next video about the matter etc.). If not, I continue with one of my other series dealing with different topics. There are a lot of interesting things I´d like to produce videos about or write books about, but I - unfortunately - cannot afford spending , let´s say 80 hours, of production time and getting only poor response. This series here DOES get only poor response. But it may happen, that the Neutron gets its tributes in another series I´m making the concept for. Just visit ma website from time to time. There´s a news block where you´ll find what´s going on on my 3 YT channels, our FB group etc. Enjoy your day! Rolf
@@rofilmmedia1 Hey there, thanks for the reply. I understand completely where you are coming from. I can imagine what your "todo list" looks like and the need to prioritise what content you put out. I will keep an eye out and who know maybe we will see a trickle of continuation with the series at some point. Have a wonderful week!
@@AntonyNorthcutt Thank you, Antony! Have good time too! (and I´ll for sure use every chance that comes up to produce more stuff about - and with - the Neutron).
Fascinating video Rolf. A variety of sound sources keeps music interesting, especially using them in ways they were not intended to be used 🙂
Thank you for commenting! I mainly work with sound material, which I gain from extraordinary sources. I like the spirit of the electronic musicians of the 1950s, and try to learn from them as much as possible. I´ve even written a book about it (www.dev.rofilm-media.net/node/537). Enjoy your day! Rolf
thank you so much for this awesome interview!
You´re most welcome! More stuff about music, modulars, sound etc. on my website dev.rofilm-media.net Enjoy your day! Rolf
Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative interview with a fascinating character. Too many interviewers limit our experience of the interviewee by inserting their own stories and reactions, and, gratefully, you did not.
I´m happy you liked it. I enjoyed the talk with Giorgio very much too. He is an unbeliebably inspiring person. Enjoy your day, Thomas!
My start button flashes and never plays back. Ideas?
great content!!!
Thank you Marco! It´s an interesting experience, but I think I´ll have to learn how to ask better questions. The software obviously needs to be asked in a different way than real humans. Enjoy your day! Rolf
Is that ongaku?
Yes, Julian, this is Ongaku. It´s part of my new e-book (hopefully coming out in April). Enjoy your day! Rolf
