If you grew up in the 1970s then you probably will remember these car commercials. Ford was king with a huge advertising budget and second was Chevy. The 70s was a great decade. A little rocky but over all a good decade. American automobiles in the 70's were not yet reliable as they are not however, the body styles were amazing and not as boring as they are today. CAMPING IN THE 1950S : Family Traditions That are Disappearing
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
Camping became so popular in the 1950s and 60s that it became an extension of the suburban dream. Keeping costs low for the larger families of the baby boom era remained significant. The oft-touted claim that “a camping vacation costs little more than staying at home, once you’ve got the camping equipment” may have been an exaggeration, but it was a standard reference in the popular press and h...
1980s Popular Fads and Things Long Gone
Просмотров 269 тыс.Год назад
In the 1980s, a new conservatism arose in social, economic and political life, characterized by the policies of U.S. President Ronald Reagan and U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. For some, the 1960s and 1970s had been a troubling time that undermined Americans’ confidence in their fellow citizens and in their government. The 1980s, often remembered for its materialism and consumerism, also...
Very enjoyable! 😊
They offer a travelers plan now for like 120 a month not too shabby honestly it’s cheaper than starlink Verizon and att travelers plans and it’s unlimited where the others all throttle at 500gb or so
Glad to see T-Mobile doing this. It’s not what is was meant for
I'd go back to this time in a heartbeat.
Like you said can’t take it with you. I’m like you going to get me one. Don’t need it but so what 😅
What kinda mileage does it get?
The question is, when will they actually enforce and send notices.
I camped all my life. I My parents had those tents. I like the tents back in the 1950's , now they have the dome tents which are really hard to get in and out of. I am in my 70's and I am still camp all summer but now I have a trailer.
Me too, but the camper is a 1965 Zipper. Can you still remember the smell of that old army tent?
Sorry for your loss.
Yup, 5-24-2024…I just got bricked on a camping trip. Received a message thst service not available because Im not at my subscribed address.
Really? Oh wow! I better check mine. I have a trip planned next month!
Once I got about 100 miles away from that location it came back on. Strange that it was working fine for two days and then no internet service. But all is good now so far
Used it from FL to WI over past 5 days (May 18 - 22), while on the move and while stationary. No issues.
Every time no cell phones cant the youg think of something else to say it was 60 years ago duh
TRUE!
Interesting timing on this. Ironically, it was the atomic bomb that led to American E.W. Deming going to Japan in the 50s and helping them focus on production quality with his "System of Profound Knowledge". This and his focus on "statistical product quality", and continuous improvement were the precursors to some of the LEAN and 6 Sigma methodologies. This, combined with the Toyota Production System that started in their early textile business, led to the rise of Japanese auto making. My point is that we had everything we needed here years before our implosion....if anyone wanted to listen. Deming had been preaching his principles around waste and statistical management for years, but no one was interested. Sounds familiar. The auto-industry then was fat and happy and customer agnostic, just like the RV industry has been. I hope Elkhart gets a wakeup call that does not start with a very bright light.
So true! Thank you for watching and the info!!!
Doom! Gloom! The sky is falling! News flash folks, the quality control issues of RV’s is not a new phenomenon. I’ve had 4 travel trailers over the past 12 years. If you are the type of person who doesn’t know how to fix things or how to use tools and need to go back to the dealer to have a light bulb changed then you are in for a lot of disappointments. These things are a house on wheels that also need to be built as lightweight as possible so people can hitch them to their vehicles and pull them down the road. While towing they are hitting potholes, swaying back and forth while many times being overloaded by people who ignore their published weight capacities. Yes, there are no lemon laws, etc. So grab your tools and hit road. That’s how the game is played…….
Slightly agree. My younger brother can't change a light bulb so he would be in that bag. I bought me a 2006 Holiday Rambler Endeavor. I'm lucky ennough to be mechanically inclined to change the oil, replace ATS and other things. With that said, here recently we seem to see a pattern with how the units are built since covid. They have gotten worse than your everyday problems. I bought a new travel trailer in 2022. Sold it a year later. The build quality was pure CRAP.
That’s a dumb statement wanting China to build a rv for America
I never said China?
Lack of skilled workers and RV manufactures are focused more on profits than quality.
So TRUE!
When you make crap - eventually, you step into it.
Sad that they are slapping walls together and throwing them out there. Demand was high and they went after it with what they had on hand. Not right for consumers.
A car is a highly standardized product, each manufacturer has maybe 20-30 models and they built them by the tens or hundred thousands. RV manufacturer have more models - and change them yearly and don't produce nearly as much. So the learning effect from a lean system doesn't pans out. I never buy a first year model car/truck - they usually get all the kinks worked out in year 3-5. I can do that because the same model of car is usually produced 7-10 years. Any RV is only produced for a year - maybe two when the floorplan is popular. The RV industry would need to slow down - build the same floorplan for a couple of years and work out the issues - optimize etc. But with the current "All new every year" sales model- that will be difficult. "New" does not mean good!! With the latest and greatest your always an free tester for the manufacturer.
True. I always tell me employees at my workplace that contractors need to "slow the bus down" and do things right out in our city of San Antonio. To put it in simple terms, the demand was so high during and after covid that things got VERY SLOPPY because they wanted to throw these boxes to consumers knowing that they'd have problems. Numbers don't lie. Not saying they're all bad but many of these houses on wheels are just bad. Not right. THANKS FOR WATCHING AND OFFERING YOUR OPINION.
I got a Cougar and I feel like I am their personal mechanic. The warranty is a joke, everything is considered wear and tear. If you take it in to the dealer you might not see your RV again. And really, is it really that much more expensive to use lock nuts and not those garbage sheet metal and wood screws that back out.
Sorry to hear about your situation. For their sake, I hope they own up to all of their issues.
They, the manufactures, are killing the market. The quality product is not there and they are way overpriced for the product sold. I have been following for years, have wanted to buy one, but have put it off because of all the negative reports from buyers. I worked hard for my money and don't want to throw it away on poor quality. Just my thoughts...
Scary to think that a family may purchase one, then find issues and no one will step up to the plate to help. I'll stick to my 2006 Holday Rambler Endeavor!
Thank You for this message. Having witnessed the Lean manufacturing transformation process in a steel company, and being on the team that facilitated that transformation in a global food processing corporation, I can confirm that it does improve quality, reduces waste, increases employee satisfaction, and increases profitability, and in very measurable terms. I’ve touted the concept on another channel where there is a push for a “continuous improvement program” in the industry, however, I’m not sure there is an understanding of the fundamentals and activities required to achieve that goal by the facilitator of that program. The industry itself, as individual companies, must decide to survive and thrive. The transformation can be done and in a relatively short amount of time. They’ve just never had a reason to improve,,, until now… Keep up the pressure and thanks again.
Thanks for watching and you comment. They would do so much better implementing just half or the lean method of production. Shame that it is taking heavy pressure to get them to improve customer service and manufacturing. 2009 in my view is when they began the decline. Covid and the high demand made it worse. Thank you!
The problem the US manufactures just put money ahead of safety and quality. Just look a Boeing screw the passenger and people that uses the product a once grate company will soon end up in chapter 11.
I mean, you can't make this stuff up. Just throw out boxes on wheels, no matter the quality and see if people buy. Well, not the pressure is on.
I did a tour of an RV factory, I was shocked at the scrap, waste and staples when there should have been a screw etc. Many workers are paid "by the piece". And the 500K ones come out the same door as the 80K ones. I won't even mention the spaghetti wiring.
Very sad!
2:30 I don’t believe this chart at all. Are you telling me that a frame repair is gonna cost less than the refrigerator? I think there’s some deception going on here
Thanks for watching and commenting postersm7141! I used it only as an illustration. Appreciate ya!
1:20 oh, that’s fantastic! So you’re saying they’re going to add two more years to a warranty that was worthless to begin with? Excellent news Way to go Grande design. like I’ve always said the best way to send a message is to vote with your wallet and people are definitely starting to do that.
Crazy isn't it.
I was going to buy a trailer for camping but the qaulity is so bad now that i refuse to spend my money on this junk. It sad. There losing my buisness and others are following.
I hear you. I got a Cougar and I feel like I am their personal mechanic. The warranty is a joke, everything is considered wear and tear. If you take it in to the dealer you might not see your RV again.
T mobile decided not to do the away plan. so relax
Please explain
Some say it happened to them already
The higher end ones are still selling. People still buy airstreams.
You can't beat an Airstream.....If you have the money! lol Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ppl buy only RVS when they have extra money to spend.
True - They still deserve a quality built RV.
Mobile hotpot.
Not as good as the home internet
I would leave T-Mobile. I did a number of months ago. I loved them in the past but they have decided to go in a different direction.
T-Mobile announced a delay in rolling out the new plan. They claimed ‘technical issues’. To me this says, customer posts caused an uproar that got the attention of TM decision makers. That said, “we the people” (most) are always looking for ways to hack something. The T&C clearly states a fixed location. Address of account registration. I’ve had TM LTE since it rolled out. We’re in the north GA woods. The app usually show ‘good’ strength sometimes ‘weak’. Overall I am pleased. We cut the cord of $240.000 per month. We buy apps as needed if we want to watch a particular show. We have the no commercial Discover Plus app. $9.99 per month. It has everything we want to watch, or we mirror my iPad to watch RUclips.
So many people signing up for it every time I go into the store
Sounds like a case of corporate theft to me.
I have been using T-Mobile Home Internet for the last 2-3 years while RVing. It has been great service. If my rates moves from $50/mo to the $160/mo I will most certainly bail. That is outrageous! I have heard that existing customers are 'grand fathered' but I don't know this for sure. Anyone hear different?
I hope not. I just canceled. Haven't sent the box back yet. Hmmm?
It's about time we cut off the free loaders using service against T&C's.
WRONG. T-mobile sold the internet service to both RVers and truckers. They had booths at some of the RV shows. Now they pulled the old switcheroo. Get your facts straight.
@@RV411CHANNEL, they have cancelled the change so get your facts straight, smh
move on Karen
At these prices the only altlernative (and you're still doubling your price) is STARLINK (presuming you can get it) at $100mo
I guess Germany T Mobile needs money for the war.
If Starlink was publicly traded, i would be buying Starlink stock.
I hear it's great but too expensive for me. :)
Just tether your cell phone.
Yeah...I don't like making my phone the main source.
I have been T Mobile for over 10 years. Their data has always been upsetting.
Trucker here, this is sad. I'll try straight talk, but I have Verizon home 5g too. I have my desktop PC which requires so much data
My neighbor & other people on my street has tmobile home internet. But when I get one & try it out, the signal is TERRIBLE at my house. Had it a week & got rid of it
Google fiber here in San Antonio. T-Mobile home internet for traveling. $50 bucks a month and I only go camping once a month. Man that hurts. I need a cheaper plan B! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Smart light bulbs and outlets use up 50 device ports on the router pretty quickly.
If you're using it at home, you can simply plug in another router and attach all if your IoT devices to that. It saves bandwidth on your wireless connection for your other devices and doesn't use up any of the the 64 (not 50) device count on the device itself.
You can run your smart devices through a controller/hub....that will only populate one device port for all the smart devices running off of it
Google Fiber is amazing for those that can get it, I'm luckily on the Fios fiber section but T-Mobile is becoming a mess once John Legere step down as T-Mobile CEO
Why not just use your phone as a hotspot?
Mobile plans usually have way less data, even if theyre advertised as unlimited.
common sense
@@jer1776 They used to have a truly unlimited full speed hot spot option, hidden in the international service add on, for an added $25 a month....sadly they removed it and only way to have it now is if you are grandfathered into it. I have it, and you would be surprised how many T-Mobile people try and talk me into a new play 😆
Sorry, our common sense tells us that phone data plans have MUCH LESS DATA. Home internet service is a different animal than the hot spot on your phone.
@@RV411CHANNEL OK, just asking because I use mine when I travel in my RV and have no problems!
the infrastructure is already in place. it is not costing them any more than previously. if anything itll cost them more for more CSR hours for all the cancellations they will recieve. 4x the current cost? T-Mobile execs are high as F!@#
I'd caution anyone thinking of using just one service for home / RV internet moving the modem from place to place etc. The downside is lots of folks run IOT devices at home. IF you were to take your router out of the house , any devices at that point aren't connected. So cameras? Wifi thermostats, etc..
AT&T internet air is $55 or $35 for AT&T customers with existing wireless service.
I am paying $50.00 for T-Mobile Home. I signed up a few days ago and will get a $200 rebate card in 10 weeks.
Awesome!
The best thing any T-Mobile subscriber can do, if affected, is to cancel ALL of their T-mobile lines and go to a different carrier. Vote with your wallet.
And vote at the polls too. Nov 4th.
