Solving Renault Megane Scenic MKII Panoramic Sunroof Wind Noise "Whistling" easy fix
A video showing what I reckon is the cause of the wind noise on most the Renault ranges Panoramic Sunroofs from 2004 onwards. The annoying "wind noise" issue! Easy fix and simple to understand. Hopefully will help you!! Follow me on Renault Forums alias ScenicCol

My daughter dancing to gangnam style
Просмотров 4211 лет назад
My 3 year old daughter went crazy when gangnam style came on telly. It was so funny I quickly grabbed my phone and recorded it so everyone could see what a great dancer she is! :D she's only 3 too! Thought i would upload it to RUclips to see who agrees ;)
This guide may be 9 years old but its still helping in 2023! just replaced the plastic guides on my scenic and this guide helped a lot.
Thank you, so much! That's really helped. The shrieking sunroof was perhaps the most frustrating of my negative experiences of being a Grand Scenic owner. It's a brilliant car but its let down by the build quality and attitude of the manufacturer and its dealer..👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate
Your guide just helped me in a big way. I have a grand scenic and even tho mine differ slightly, the principle was the same. Popped off the roof rail, t20 torx and some wd40 , took me about 20 mins and I'm not a mechanic by any means but it was so easy. And the amount of dirt and crap in there was shocking. Top man for this video 👍
Just too add, on the plastic guides or feet that you can replace, avoid using Copper Grease, in the hot weather it expands and turns sticky / solid, try to use Vaseline or a waterproof based lubricant, it will help keep the moving parts less resistant. Glad this video has come with great feedback as it has been an ongoing issue for years! I may also add that this works on Megane 2, Laguna 3, Clio 4, really most models of Renault using this same sunroof system as the mechanisms are near identical if the accessibility is slightly different! Glad to be of help! 😉👌
Thanks that's a little project for me but I need to find out about the rubber seal on the underside of the glass on the back end of that aswell which is disintegrating also. And also windscreen seal which has lost its shape and flaps in the wind and also whistles🤔
thanks for the tip, i've just ordered some clips! i also have the issue where you have to push it as you turn the knob to give it a hand as it sticks! i hope it sorts this issue too.....
Thanks m8. Just bought a 08 scenic and got £300 off price from the garage because they couldn't get the sunroof to work. Followed the vid and the rubber grommets were in pieces, replaced them and now have a fully working sunroof! Cheers👍
clever great tip
Besides, it is advisable to change the entire bracket because the pins get worn too.
Actually the brackets are easier to get out of the rake by pulling them rearwards. This at least what I found in my grand scenic. The roof panels are much trickier to remove than explained here. The front and rear clips are sliding, while the rest can be released as described. I have snatched some of the clips and created a second problem while solving the first.
Thanks very much for this video, it pointed me in exactly the right direction. For me, one of the rubber feet had completely broken apart, just replacing it with a new one from ebay and lubricating them and the runners was enough to cure the whistle (so no tapping if the rails needed in my case).
Did this in the summer - bought the plastic "feet" from ebay at £2.50 each - and it worked! The whistle which had been driving me crazy is now gone - bliss! Was careful removing the plastic trim - there were 2 different clips on my 2008 Grand Scenic - one set were spring loaded the others were simply a "fit around" - this was probably the hardest part but being careful worked. I used a piece of wood to tap the rails tighter - it didn't leave a mark and meant I could do it in small increments - 1st test drive still had a slight whistle but another couple of taps and it was silent. Had tried my local Renault dealer about this fix - they had no idea, but did understand the principle. Thanks very much for the video - I would never have found this solution otherwise.
Jesus....The man has taken time and effort to show you what worked for HIM....why the he'll would you reply like that...After all...He has advised you on a QUICK FIX and would have potentially saved you money.....maybe you were a little heavy handed in the process ??? Or just didn't watch or listen...because it worked for me......absolutely disgusting....
I changed those rubber clips like a year ago. Old ones were pretty worn out, only this time with new ones i could really easily open the sunroof but the wind noise and rattlle still there. I am gonna try this solution you posted today!
hi,just a quick question.how do you remove the plastic trim off the roof?
paul hickman if your not a mechanic don't touch it
Great, thank you for this advice - will try it out tomorrow!!
Extremely helpful! Thank you! :-D
