SPECIALIZED Roval Rapide Cockpit unboxing - MagCAD vs Specialized spacers for Tarmac SL7 + weights
Hey everyone!
Today, I'll be showing what's inside the box of the not-so-new Roval Rapide Cockpit. I'll reveal the real weight and accessories that come with it. Additionally, I'll compare the original Specialized transition spacer solution for the Tarmac SL7 with the custom dedicated SL7 MagCad spacer. Check out the video; I hope you enjoy it!

What seatpost mount for the battery is that? :)
Hey there! It’s a standard mount supplied with the frameset/seatpost. You can find the part number in the user manual. Hope it helps!
👏👏👏👏
What garmin mount?
The one that came with the set, stock one.
What is the frame size?
Size 56
Will it be able to hide 4 cables since I'm running mechanical (ultegra) on my SL7?
Not an expert on this but from what I’m reading online it shouldn’t be a problem. You may need to change the housing though. Good luck!
Pudistes ocultar los 4 cables finalmente?tengo el mismo problema tambien.gracias
Pudiste ocultar los 4 cables?tengo el mismo problema gracias
Do you have a picture of a SL7 with the roval rapide cockpit?
I have not started building yet, so only have what's at the end of the video. There is plenty of photos available on the Specialized FB groups
@@dreamvelo3210 thanks I'm thinking of doing the same
Hey, nice video! I plan to upgrade my SL8 Pro's SL7 stem + aero handlebar combo to this cockpit. I am a bit confused, because the old stem is +6° and the cockpit is -6°. So, to have the same fit as with my SL7 stem + handlebar (handlebar stack), I would need to put at least one extra 1cm spacer below the cockpit to mitigate the -6°, right?
Hey Peter! Are you certain the old stem is +6? Pretty sure the stem for SL7 only had -6 and -12 degree angle options. There should’t be any difference with the 6 degree stem as it’s the negative 6.
@@dreamvelo3210 Thank you! You must be right. Maybe I just misunderstood the product pages. So, in the end I just have to remove one 1cm spacer to have the same fit, because the cockpit is 1cm taller. I want to cut my steerer shaft and just to make sure that I am still compatible with the cockpit when it becomes available in my desired size.
Removing 1 cm spacer should do the trick. There should be no more than 3 mm space between top of the stem/cockpit and steerer tube. Check page 25 of the user manual for more info: support.specialized.com/manuals/manuals/road-bikes/tarmac?scroll-translations%3Alanguage-key=en .If you want to shorten your steerer tube, I’d definitely recommend doing it in your LBS, if you never done it before. It can be a very expensive mistake 😂.
Can i build the sl7 pro version with mechanical groupset?
Hey! Pretty sure you can, I believe frames were coming with different headset covers to accommodate mechanical shifting. Best to check with LBS though!
whatis the size of this bike?
56 cm
This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Hello @Dream Velo, may I ask what grease you used on the bearings etc?
Hey there! Sorry for the late answer. I mostly use the Weldtite TF2 grease
I’m satisfied
My 105 r7000 cranks weights 715... :/ But I love the look of the new ultegra....
Hey there! What's the crank length of your 105? Black Friday coming soon, so look out for deals on the new Ultegra crank! Good luck
RD in time 11:03 in much different angle on dropout than in time 15:03. How did you solve that? I mean there is that stopper "ear" on dropout... It means in 15:03 not touching the "ear" and just torqued? Or did you change dropout?
Hey Ondrej, not sure if I understood the question correctly but it’s the chain that gives tension to the derailleur and put’s it in a different angle at 15:03. I didn’t make any other adjustments, it’s all documented step by step. Hope that helps 😊
Beautiful
Thank you!
Hey that's my bike, color scheme and all (well ok, mine has all stock components accept for the wheels which I swapped for CLXs. Absolutely love it. I find this video so therapeutic. Well done.
Thanks a lot! 😊
Good luck with the glorious design of the upper headset from Specialized. Everybody loves a damaged steerer tube…
I owned 2 Tarmacs in the past. SL2 and SL4 - would never own another Spec - ... went Pinarello since the 65.1 -
Beautiful dream build! A true work of art.
Thanks a lot! ✌️
What a great looking bike! Amazing build video! Edit: I didn’t even see that there is a full length video. I’m going to watch that now.
What color scheme is this? I loved it when it came out, but it's been a few years.
It’s a 2021 frameset in Ultra Turquoise/Red Gold Pearl/Black - can’t really say it’s been few years in this case 😊
Nice video, thank you. What length Di2 cables did you use for the battery / front and rear derailleur connections?
Hey Eddie, thanks for your comment! The lengths are 600 mm and 1200 mm. Hope that helps 😊
🥰
What tools do you use? Any brand favourites?
Hey Sam, it's a good mix of different brands that I use, Lifeline, Lifeline Pro, 3Min19Sec, Park Tool etc. Park Tool being my favourite so far.
Hi, what size cables did you use? I’m planning on building the same bike. Are the cables the same as the old di2?
Hey, it’s Shimano EW-SD300 wire. The lengths are 600 mm and 1200 mm. They’re not the same as older di2 generation. Good luck with your build! 💪
Piękny! ❤️ Jakie to koła? Roval c38?
Dzięki! Roval CL 50 😊
2021? ........ sorry!!!
Excelent, very very good, Bike winner, $$$??
Updating the firmware for the shifters is a major PITA. You cannot do it wirelessly. Instead you have to connect one at a time via a specific wire to the battery (if your battery is in the seat post) or in my case my battery is in the down tube which means you need another special adapter to connect to your front derailleur! And you need to update one shifter at a time. Alternatively you can take it to a bike shop to do the update (free only if you purchased it there). Stupid design and proves SRAM is light years ahead of Shimano
😂 Except when u want to shift , then SRAM sucks
This video is very helpful. Just what I needed. Thank you so much.
Great to hear, thanks!
Awesome
Thank you!
Amazing vid! I picked up an SL7 and I’m sourcing parts for my build. Is there a crown race on this stem?
Hey Logan! There is no crown race on the fork if that’s what you mean.
Anyone know when there’s a single sided powermeter crank available for this groupset ?
Hey, no idea. I was waiting for it myself but instead went for Wahoo Powrlink pedals just recently because dealers kept postponing the arrival date.
@@dreamvelo3210 how do you find these ? Any trouble technically ? Will they pair with my Garmin ?
Hi Nice build up! Using your great video to build my Tarmac SL7 (Peter Sagan Edition from 2020). I tried so hard to find the wrench adapter, which you’re using in the video (09:45). Do you know where to find it? Best regards from Denmark
Hey, pleased to hear you like it 😊. I got it with Sram bleed kit: www.bike24.com/p2131508.html , good luck with your build! Let me know if you have any more questions, all the best! ✌️
Thank you so much😃 All the best!!
Formidable ensamblaje.
hi nice video, may I ask where did you buy the two black plastic or rubber that you attached to the battery before it was insert to the seatpost
Thanks! 💪 nanobike.de/specialized-venge-di2-mj-2019-and-tarmac-sl7-2021-grommet - check out this shop, I see they have it in stock. For reference the part number: S199900003 Di2 BATTERY GROMMET. Good luck!
@@dreamvelo3210 do think it will fit Pave seatpost that came with Specialized Roubaix 2020?
hi , do you have a shop? can you do my bike installation of R8100?
Happy to do it for you but I’m based in Europe and not a shop 😊
Damn I want one so bad
If you dont mind, what two were lengths did you use to go from the seatpost to the derailleurs? Also, where can those battery holders be found for the SL7 seatpost?
Hey, the lengths are 600 mm and 1200 mm. nanobike.de/specialized-venge-di2-mj-2019-and-tarmac-sl7-2021-grommet - check out this shop, I see they have it in stock. For reference the part number: S199900003 Di2 BATTERY GROMMET. Good luck!
What’s the total weight? Sorry too lazy to watch the whole videos and do the math. By the way video is very stylish. Thank you
Hey, thanks! Check out the table at the end of this video for total weights - ruclips.net/video/tGWvOucrMV0/видео.html
Anyone know if there is a way to stop cross chaining on the new 12sp groupsets? The previous gen had limiter on the rear derailleur to not move to the 2 lowest cogs while in the smaller front ring but the new one doesn't and I can't find a setting for it in the app
Or, you can practice not to cross-chain yourself. I don't cross-chain on mine.
@@yonglingng5640 I'd rather focus on riding then keeping count of which cog I'm using on the cassette
Amazing how it takes half the time of these dreambuilds and more just to thread wires and hoses through the frame.
promosm ?
ottimo video!!!!
Nice bike build man. I bought the same model with a mechanical ultegra in a local bike shop last week and also let them upgrade the handlebar to the roval rapide one 😄 mine came with black tires so I was wondering if the orange ones would fit the bike, your video gave me an answer! Happy riding 🙌🏻
Thanks for the comment, appreciate it and glad the video helped! ✌️ enjoy the bike, it’s a beast! 💥
Great edit with all the details! Would love to build one..only if I had the skills..well done! Looking forward to see more of this.
Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated!

No need to apologize, I have indeed built this bike for the very first time 😉

Super filmik!
😊 Długości to 600 mm i 1200 mm. Jak potrzebujesz więcej informacji to pisz śmiało. Na kanale mam też bardziej szczegółowy, 17 minutowy edit, zapraszam do obejrzenia. Pozdrawiam i powodzenia!✌️
Dzięki za odpowiedź 😀👊 A jaki tu masz rozmiar ramy? Te długości, które podałeś będą odpowiednie dla 54?
@@grzegorzdrzewiecki2582 Teraz dopiero zauważyłem pytanie. Rama w rozmiarze 56 cm. Przewody miały sporo zapasu w moim przypadku.
Dzięki ogromne za odpowiedź!😁👍
@Dream Velo to jeszcze jedno pytanie jeśli to nie tajemnica 😉 jakich specyfików używasz do smarowania: sterów, obejm klamkomanetek, sztycy siodła, gwintu suportu, bębenka i osi kół?
😃
That’s a pretty bike!!! Beautiful build
Thank you very much!
