Nice work. Looks great. Can you buy the resin internationally or is it a UK product? Happy Modelling Mon
Can I join your train group please
Great work, looking terrific
Nice work mate!
Great video made up my mind on a station halt for my quarry module.
Great!
Kitchen foil works well for flashing.
Great shout !
Love the barrow crossing work, very effective. The sleeper-built buffer would have been filled with ballast (probably old) and no doubt any other rubble they had to hand, not coal, which is far to valuable to leave in a box by the railway! (You aren't the first person I've seen do that this evening!)
Makes absolute sense what your saying here 👍🏻
Hi I think your modeling skills excels you
I have worked for 40 years in various rock quarries and your detail is amazing
Thank you !
Ground signals should be adjacent to the points facing for wrong direction movements
I have a strange habit of making all of my own materials, i.e., ground scatter, weathering powders, rust, etc. I went to the dollar store and got women's eye makeup to use as weathering powder (medium) as it sticks better than any chalks I've ever used. It comes in just about any color you could imagine. I use food coloring in ground chalk to give my ground up chalk some color and it works quite well. I never throw anything away including bits of scrap wood that I cut up into very small bits and make scrap wood piles to place around the layout. I also save any sanding dust and saw dust that I color with food coloring or acrylic paints and use it for ground material or even a saw dust pile near my sawmill. I make my own hay bales (round ones) with cut up jute string. I also make my own rust powder by putting 0000 steel wool in a quart jar and fill with vinegar and place in the kitchen window for a few weeks. After it all turns a nice rust color i pour it out into a flat 11x14 stainless photo tray (a flat baking dish will also work) and wait a couple of weeks for it to dry. Then I use a single edge razor blade to pulverize it into a powder and store it in little snuff cans. You can use it as a weathering powder or mix with PVA glue and stick it to the sides of buildings or railroad stock. I save all sponge rubber to go in my electric coffee grinder, a little acrylic paint and make my own ground scatter or leaves to go on trees. I have a Nandena bush growing out back that when the little red berries fall off they make good tree armatures. I paint them brown with my airbrush for regular trees and grey for aspens or ash trees. I make grass tufts out of an old wig my wife got me at the dollar store. Just add acrylic paint and glue. I scratch build all my platforms, coal staithes and loading docks. I have a ton of lichen growing out back on the hill behind my house used for bushes, etc. I could go on and on but I better stop here. Cheers from eastern TN
Great use of materials there mate 👌
I just finished my coal staithes and made them from balsa wood and matchsticks. They came out pretty good for being scratch built. Cheers from and old modeler from eastern TN
Excellent stuff
I am finding it really hard to get the grass right on my models, any chance you are near Bedfordshire and can come and help me, I have a 4ft x 3ft model and I've been desperate to get it done for nearly a year now! or would you be able to recommend anyone local to me who could help? I have tried several methods but I cant get it right.
Find me on fb Sams Polishing and detailing service Then we can talk it’s easier , checkout Wwscenics too
Hey, are you back to modeling this year ?
Hi I am ! I’m running a modelling club at the local school we building an end to end . Perhaps I can upload some stills on here
@@peaks4719 sounds great mate. Your content was brilliant. Did you sell this layout in the end?
I did mate , it came apart really well I helped put some of it back together with the new owner
@@peaks4719 nice work. It was a great build, learnt a lot from those vids. Cheers 🥂
🤛🏻
I have enjoyed your video it helps me with my recovery from my brain tumour and stroke I mention my illness so you know who is watching and why One suggestion try shapeways for some 3d practice detailing 😂❤
I am glad it’s helping ! Hopefully your having a speedy recovery
great realistic concept, love it, just ordered a set👍
Cheers Danny
Where did you get the glass fibre helmet from?
My mate has a mould If you want one I’m sure he would do one ? Find me on facebook Sams Polishing and Detailing Service I will put you intouch 👍🏻
@@peaks4719 yes please mate. im a re enactor, and would like a light weight helmet to use.
Great work here Sam😊😊
what is 'house hold emulsion' ??

@@peaks4719 Ok, I am Dutch so I had no idea :)
Well, I only just discovered your RUclips channel and I must say that you have got a great appreciation of the environment around a railway, especially in the north. The whole scene has a completely natural atmosphere, congratulations on what to me is a view of my past as a young lad who loved the railways. About a year ago I decided that after 60 years I would like to build a model railway again. The uncanny thing is that I have chose the same backscene and the same Metcalfe viaduct as you. I just hope that I can achieve the same result as you. Keep up the good work. Bill.
My pleasure, I have now sold this layout but loved building it !
Best of look with your build , the backscene really makes a layout dosnt it .
wicked neat
Card kits, Whatever you do, They always look like card,
🤣 100%
really good
Thank you! Cheers!
A 12 ´20 le casque est un original ?
Nice!! Do you have a video of how you built the cottage?
I’m sorry I don’t it was given to me built it’s a “Wills kit” I think
I’m sorry I don’t it was given to me built it’s a “Wills kit” I think
Brilliant. What are the dimensions please?
70mm wide 50mm deep 60mm to the peak of the roof But 40mm high are the walls
@@peaks4719 Thanks very much. I might give this a try - stretching my abilities.
Behind the curve (as usual!) but although sad to see the layout go, many thanks for the excellent guidance through the series - I learnt an awful lot. Best wishes for next project.
Cheers Alex
@@peaks4719how you doing with new projects?
Absolutely outstanding channel, been bing watching for days,
Cheers mate The railway has now sold so i hope you enjoy what’s on here You might like crash corner think it’s 6 episodes
Lol, already watched crash corner, please keep up these educational videos. I can understand how much time needs to be put aside. Next project please, .
Nice one layouts gone now I sold it on
Looks absolutely fantastic. Low angle shot at16:30 even before applying the ground textures looks amazing. That is what I am after that level of details. Thank you for the heads up on the WWS range will be looking into those when I get to that point.
No problem happy to help
Nice one took a lot from this video as I start to scratch build my way back into the craft.
Great to see crew on a loco
1st class, a pleasure to watch and inspirational 👍
Thank you
How can I get the measurements for this build please? It’s brilliant👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This one went with the layout
How can I get the measurements for this build please? It’s amazing!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you , I do not own this layout any more but I do have the barn at home I can measure it !
@@peaks4719 that would be great. Thank you.
Looks really good. Mortar was often used as flashing material between slates and chimney, more so in a vernacular setting as it was cheap.
Thank you
What paint did you use
Wws “muds” for rust and satin black rattle can mate
Thank you so much for this guide! I found several guides on brick but none on stone painting so this really helped me with my models.
Pleasure mate 👍🏻
What paints did you use!? Need that exact color everything on the net is too matte grey and unauthentic IMO
Hi , trade spray for the black and Wws rust for the weathering
Thanks for your reply! Is it Tetrosyl ATS013 Trade Spray Satin Black? I have so many black spray paints but they look too modern I think, unless the aluminium oxide changes the color in a way? I’m refurbishing an original Finnish helmet which has plenty of rust especially after the paint will be stripped. I’m sure I can weather down the black after it is applied and aluminium oxide is applied to show the rust. Does this sound like a good idea? Sorry I’m new to this but have been loving restoring helmets. I want that dark waffen SS combat color and that’s a lot like what this looks like.
The Barn with no royalties! 😢
You missed out the bullet holes in the JU88, if this had been shot down by a Hurricane or a Spit, there would have been hundreds of em. Otherwise loved it, what a glorious railway.
It ran out of fuel getting lost the in fog 🤣
These videos are brilliant for beginners like me !!
Very good
It’s looking superb I try & follow every shoot
Cheers Phil , the layout is now sold , but I’m being employed to recommission it at his new home with adjustments , I hope to film it
I thought people risked and lost their lives defeating the Nazis and what they stood for, yet here we are 78 years later and you can’t show a swastika or even say the word in a supposedly free society. After posting this comment I watched a similar video by the War Detectorist, and he shows a swastika decal. The video is 2yrs old so perhaps RUclips is not being regressive and showing maturity on this occasion.
I didn’t want to chance it , I was proud of the job and didn’t want to tarnish my efforts shame because the decals look mega
Some really exceptional modelling here. Not sure the professional dry-stone wallers among your audience would like to see the crumbling and neglected nature of your walls though!
Probably be not but it’s prototypical I think ?
Love this, I’ve just started modelling in this scale (used to 1/12th dolls house scale).
Hi, when you say 1mm beige, what colour is that in the WWS range? I cannot find any beige grass :(
I’ve text Martyn , but I think it comes as a kit only I might be wrong though , I will let you when I hear off him www.wwscenics.com/product/oo-gauge-sheep-flocking-kit/
@@peaks4719 Thanks - the kit doesn.t say what colour the beige is, and they don't have it for sale anywhere on the site (as beige). I will await you answer :)
@@damenfeld it’s definitely in the kit it’s called beige I’m guessing it’s not sold separately but I’m enquiring
Enjoyed that last running sesh dude, new owner will have hours of fun on his new layout. Look forward to seeing what you do next, I know you're busy in rl. Take care and all the best. Brian @ The Angels
Cheers dude long time no speak 👍🏻
Nice video with the helmet painting and weathering, the 'well used in a war' look technique of hitting it with the big metal mallet was awesome! Cheers Gary
Coudnt think of any other way dude cheers mate
