S1E32: Waterfalls and Preparing for Haul Out
We enjoy getting to explore Grenada even more, and the waterfalls (and cliff jumping) were incredible. One of our favorite experiences of the season! After enjoying a little, we get back to work to get Eremia ready to be hauled out for Hurricane Season. It's a lot to do to get prepared, so we're working as much as possible to get everything done to be able to leave her for a couple months. It finally gets that time where we will leave Eremia and fly back to see friends and family, and the kids experience their first flight!! It was not lost on me that it took us almost 7 months to get here and less than a day to get back.
So for now, we say goodbye until season 2!!

S1E31: Did We Stay or Did We Go???
Просмотров 51014 дней назад
We woke up to an updated weather forecast that showed Hurricane Beryl strengthening and the eye heading straight for Grenada where we are! We had our most stressful decision of the season - do we stay or do we go? As we were discussing it, we watched boat after boat leave the bay heading to Trinidad. After multiple prayers and tears, we looked back at the conditions to leave and decided to head...

We continue our travels by stopping for an overnight in Montserrat. We anchored close to a cave that reportedly had hundreds of bats, so the girls decided to go check it out - then I (Amber) decided when we got close that maybe it wasn't a good idea. Love the whale sighting! We get dolphins occasionally and never get tired of seeing them. Now that y'all have been on the water for more than 6 months, how is the boat doing? It would be really interesting to get your current perspective of likes, dislikes, must-haves, things you thought would be must-haves but aren't really, etc. Also from everyone's perspective - do the children like their spaces, is there room to get away? We're looking at catamaran's in similar sizes and I need space for 6 as well. Would smaller have worked for you? Thanks for your videos, really enjoy seeing them!

      We cruised in the 1990's and there were only 2 other boats with children on them, most people were retired and told us they wished they did what we were doing rather than wait tell they retired. Our oldest son is a skipper on a big cat that takes people out to the Great Barrier reef and tells us he would not be doing that job or even know about it if he had not cruised when he was young. Make the most of it, you only have them for such a short period of time.

      Fair enough, but I respect people who take the shot. Those failure statistics apply to people who start a small business, or do anything hard really. People need to put in their due diligence with planning, but I would never discourage someone from stepping out and trying. You get one trip through life. To die with nothing but regret for never committing to your passion is tragic.

    • @SailingEremia
      @SailingEremia 3 месяца назад

      Thank you!! We discussed it as a family especially after our charter in 2019 to see what everyone thought, and we were all on board for trying it. We also had check ins and discussions along the way with the kids. Leaving sports was hard, but since we had planned this for 4 years prior (before they were as heavily involved in competitive sports), they knew they would have to give it up in order to go. They all thought it would be worth it though. Friends was by far the hardest for then to give up. All I could tell them was it was the hardest for me too. But we FaceTime at times to keep in touch. School - the younger 3 have a book based curriculum, so I plan out their lessons weekly. It's definitely takes up a lot of space! Morgan (13) has 2 online, on demand classes that she takes and that has been really good and has helped me too in trying to review, grade, etc with all 4. We have Starlink internet! There's some nuances with it, but we have the ability to have internet access virtually anywhere which is huge for safety since we can get updated weather, etc underway.
