What is really astonishing is that this all should have been expected. The western world churns out athletes where billions are spent on things like a football game. They are the idols US children aspire to be and intelligence is not something prized. China though has spent decades churning out STEM graduates in massive numbers! Of course, the newest inventions will be created there. When you invest in the education of your citizens, you risk them demanding fairness, something the capitalist billionaires are against. US policy is that there should be a certain number of unemployed people. Full employment is not considered a good thing in the US, otherwise wages will have to go up and the stockholders don't make as much money. China has a different vision. Educated children become brilliant engineers and change the world That's a high mountain to climb but they are doing it. I just want what is best for everyone...in the world, not just _my_ country. We have the capability right now to end climate change with just solar and batteries. Cost has come down so much it is now feasible to change the world today. Not sometime in the future. All it takes is enough people talking about it, demanding it. Trade, not tariffs.
