Biden 50% reduction in farming by 2050 ,as no oil for farming by tractor ,and land mine 30% of Ukraine ..The natural gas fields in Siberia, Alaska and the Middle East should last 20 years longer than the world's oil reserves but, although cleaner than oil, natural gas is still a fossil fuel that emits pollutants. It is also expensive to extract and transport as it has to be liquefied....Oil running out by 9% a year now, so it is better growing food in gardens and being sustainable, As tractor harvest will become like the dinosaur soon...TAR SANDS OIL ,destroys the world .Means all the fracking gas ,to make Bitumen tar sands oil ,into car fuel ,3 gallons of water to make one car gallon ,Fracking uses more energy by damage roads, ( water transport ) to pump water into wells "To bring up the gas ,and fracking production falls by 95% ,the second year of fracking = negative and waste more resources doing it ,as pumping the last oil a mile out of the ground ,the same result of net zero gain ..In the Asia-Pacific region alone, nearly 2,600 platforms, 35,000 wells, 7.5 million tonnes of steel and 55,000 kilometres of pipelines will need to be decommissioned over the next decade across a region ranging from India to Papua New Guinea and China to Australia. The potential cost for this could rise above £78billion. Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia are collectively thought to have around 1,500 structures and 7,000 oil fields that will be either 30 years old or require decommissioning by 2038. In the Gulf of Thailand, Chevron is faced with 300 platforms and 6,000 wells that must be decommissioned over the next decade. India has a further 300 structures and up to 1,000 oil fields facing the same scenario. Australia expects 40 offshore fields to cease operations over the next decade. Closer to home, according to industry analysts Wood Mackenzie, up to half of the North Sea’s 600 installations - first installed 40 years ago - were due to be decommissioned by 2021. The UK government estimates the cost of removal at £20billion over the next 25 years in the North Sea. Globally, more than 4,000 such installations are scheduled for removal and 7,000 fields will cease production by 2022.

Car driving means no fuel for farming soon ,,Ban cars or get this CBCD ,Ban lawnmowers ,and grow food in gardens and car parks grow food ,,No oil soon = no tractor harvest soon. Saudis will need to import oil in 5 years and they already consume all the gas production while neighboring dictatorship of Kuwait has to now import gas from Russia. .= no gas ,no nitrogen fertilizer ,Fertilizer can increase crop yields by 400% = only 2 billion feed = lockdowns ,and electric cars ,But only enough resources to go green for 500 million The simplest point about solar energy seems to be the hardest for people to understand: that it requires a powerful storage mechanism to use solar energy 24 hours of the day. And that such storage mechanism is physically impossible..Earth's survival is in doubt as its resources for sustaining the human race are rapidly disappearing ( NO MORE CITIES REPAIRED OR BUILT ,no way to feed cities soon .30-year average life expectancy of China's buildings, the average life span of a building in Britain is capable of 132 years and in the United States it is 74 years.Concrete mine in Willington Connecticut is very poor grade concrete, thousands of thousands of house Foundation are falling apart in less than 30 years. ) and if no action is taken, then, no one will survive.,ONLY ENOUGH RARE EARTH FOR 500 MILLION ,, system will progressively support less and less of the world population. In other words, they have engineered a troubling dilemma with two stark choices: either radical change in how we govern resources or a massive depop...Even if all the rare earths needed for the millions of batteries were to be found and dug up, it would take a thousand years to make these batteries. And these batteries would become lethal poisons after their limited life is over. Not only would solar panels poison the environment in perpetuity, these batteries would become the most dangerous source of poison in the environment, killing wildlife and people .....The Russians believed, for instance, that smallpox v could cause hardening of the arteries. What the Fort Detrick researchers found was that herpes is the most important factor in the AIDS structure. The herpes virus, they wrote, activated the HIV virus to perform its deadly work. It is the first virus to have appeared in mankind for many centuries which is entirely new, highly lethal and spreading steadily from person-to-person worldwide.” This was not a well-meant attempt that went haywire. This was not the work of a mad scientist. This was a project coldly calculated to discover whether a new virus could be created that would decimate a population in a seemingly “natural” plague. The experiments were concluded in 1917. Thus was born the AIDS virus. The AIDS virus (human immunodeficiency virus or HIV) is a “cocktail,” half-animal, half-human, and a certain killer. It is highly pathogenic to human, but it differs very much from any other virus of humans. For many decades the US military has been systematically carrying out numerous highly secretive black ops prog_ams, from raining poisonous metals down on unsuspecting... directly firing radioactive volleys from urban rooftops just to see how humans react to high doses of radiation. = wifi = radiation = makes cancer inject more aggressive U/N Na/tio/ns E_O-92 E_rth Charter, here is an excerpt. “The present vast o.v.e.r.p.o.la.t.i.o.n, now far beyond the world carrying capacity, cannot be answered by future reductions in the birth rate due to contraception, steril__ation and abotion, but must be met in the present by the reduction of numbers presently existing. This must be done by whatever means necessary.”We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control p.o.p.u.l.at.i.o.n, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the p/o/p/u/l/a/ti//o/n crisis. Cut the p.o.p.u.l.a.t.i.o.n by 90% and there aren’t enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage.” -Mikhail Gorbachev “In order to stabilize world population, we must e.l.i.m.in.a.te 350,000 people per day. But the doctor would be gradually recognized as a highly skilled technicianhIt's GIVING LET__ INJEC...absolutely not paranoia. I used to work on think tanks for o.rpoulation, population control, and population reduction. P.oulation reduction efforts are very real. O.vepoultion is the most pressing threat to the planet at the moment, and they do not openly discuss it. It is a highly cla..ssified subject due to the simple fact that o.verpoulation will deplete planetary resources by 2040 at current rates, and there is only one practical, workable solution left. A minimum 40% reduction before 2040. Everywhere, including the US. Most nations have already agreed, secretly, to commit to this, including the United States. To be perfectly clear, it was my job to come up with as many ways possible to k people, first discreetly to buy time with w and "slow poi", then more directly with a false flg ,, d. camps. There will be no roundup for the camps, people will go willingly thinking it's their only salvation. Once 40% is reached, the age of electricity will be permanently cut off, nature will thin out the survivors by another 70-90%, and humanity will be managed from secret cities with advanced technology, religion, and secret microching through religious ceremony. The general population will never be allowed to advance beyond 1850's technology levels

I've seen deserts get turned back into beautiful landscapes that are fertile for food using permaculture principles. All towns and cities should be using permaculture principles. In how we behave and react to the land. Use and build swells the control water flow, we can create absolute abundance in many many places, more trees need to be planted and more soil from out waste needs to be added to the ground. Instead of monoculture farming that destroys the soil and creates food with questionable nutrition, we could be creating local food that is organic and far more nutrient dense. The UK needs to import far far less food and produce its own, every country should be producing what they can to reduce air miles. The money that we are stripping away from other countries via their precious minerals, we should be flowing back money to their countries to build fertility. But a fed country isn't part of the agenda. The agenda is to continue to steal their resources, continue mass migration, create total chaos so those in power and the very rich can control the resources and the bottom feeders fight amongst themselves. We DONT NEED "global solutions". We need local solutions.

I don't think you understand why human societies exist. We aren't a solution to anything, if you make another person some poor fool on the other side of the planet will be required to help buy/build more missiles. It would be stupid for people on the other side of the world to not point missile at us, look how ugly and stupid and poisonous we are.

  • @Joe-yo1tm

It doesn't need to be a global food situation, food should be grown and can be grown local. Organic food. All we need to do is feed the soil, stop all chemical fertilisers, make sure waste is converted into compost that stores carbon tenfold, retains water and feeds the soil. We could be doing this, farming subsidies or incentives for farmers and local growers. Global solutions will not solve anything. Why is your funder bill Gates, as mentioned in this interview, buying up all the farmland everywhere? We don't need genetically modified crap and chemicals that is toxic, we need a total overhaul of it. We need soil health, compost and multi biodiversity in local farming!!!

What about the argument that less meat or vegan diets reduce brain capacity? This is an extremely complex issue and no science on the topic seems to join up all the dots.

Dear Dr. Nick Lane, I recently watched your excellent video, where a panelist asks why Thymine and not Uracil in DNA. I believe the reason for this is that Cytokine has an amino group at carbon 4, and a common mutation is the loss of the amino group, resulting in a Uracil molecule. Since Cytokine pairs with Guanine, while Thymine and Uracil pair with Adenine. If at the time of RNA replication a deamination of a Cytokine molecule occurs, resulting in a Uracil molecule, this will pair with an Adenine molecule instead of a Guanine molecule as would correspond to the original Cytokine, and since Uracil is a molecule of the RNA itself, the polymerase would have no way of realizing the error. In DNA, this does not happen because, unlike Uracil, Thymine has a methyl group at carbon 5, making the error easily distinguishable by the polymerase. This is, I believe, the reason for having a Thymine base instead of Uracil, since methylation is energetically expensive, but it guarantees reproductive invariance.

I can certainly see life originating on the sea floor of a satellite like Europa. In fact the tidal core heating might produce vents on the sea floor like we have here on earth. A huge collision would be needed to free it like the elements in our periodic table and their numbers by neutron star collisions and probably not in a supernova. In fact life could have formed on earth just as easily at our hydrothermal vents. If when we get to another stellar system we find completely alien dna then it could form piecemeal.

The Age of Life The ability to carry out actions differentiates inanimate matter from living matter. In turn, every action involves the management of Information. We do not know what Matter is or what Life is, and we assume that all life forms that currently inhabit the planet descend from a common ancestor (LUCA), an organism whose complexity is evident if we consider that it is attributed the ability to reproduce. Due to the above, it is reasonable to assume that “seeds of life” existed prior to LUCA. Assuming that the “seeds of life” emerged together with the Big Bang is a bold postulate, and as such requires a solid empirical foundation. When observing Evolution considering the information that our ancestors have managed, and that currently managed by humanity, it is possible to distinguish seven evolutionary milestones; Its analysis allows us to postulate that Life goes back to the origin of the Universe, and the existence of an “evolutionary pattern” is evident, which turns out to be the Golden Ratio. Evolutionary Milestones -Emergence of ”Seeds of Life”(1) (thirteen thousand eight hundred million years ago). -Emergence of LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor) three thousand eight hundred million years ago -Emergence of the brain (five hundred and fifty million years ago). -Emergence of what was the precursor of human language (2) (twenty-seven million years ago) -Emergence of the language that characterizes us(3) (around two hundred and twenty thousand years ago). -Emergence of “the information age” with the transistor (1950) -Evolutionary Singularity(4) proposed by Ray Kurzweil, who postulates that humanity will access a Singularity as a result of the exponential growth of information management (year 2045). Evolutionary sections Among successive evolutionary milestones we can distinguish the following six “Evolutionary Tranches”, with the duration indicated (in years): Tranche 1: 10,000,000,000 (13,800,000,000 - 3,800,000,000 = 10,000,000,000) Tranche 2: 3,250,000,000 (3,800,000,000 - 550,000,000 = 3,250,000,000) Tranche 3: 523,000,000 (550,000,000 - 27,000,000 = 523,000,000) Tranche 4: 26,780,000 (27,000,000 - 220,000 = 26,780,000) Tranche 5: 219,905 (220,000 - 95(5) = 219,905) Tranche 6: 95 (95 - 0 = 95) The particular variation experienced by the Evolutionary Sections over time suggests using the logarithm of said sections (LT) to analyze their behavior over time. The logarithms in question are as follows: LT1 = 10.0000 LT2 = 9.51188 LT3 = 8.71850 LT4 = 7.42781 LT5 = 5.34224 LT6 = 1.97772 The lines between two successive logarithms have the following slopes (P) P1 = -0.48812 (9.51188 - 10.0000 = -0.48812) P2 = -0.79338 (8.71850 - 9.51188 = -0.79338) P3 = -1.29069 (7.42781 - 8.71850 = -1.29069) P4 = -2.08557 (5.34224 - 7.42781 = -2.08557) P5 = -3.36452 (1.97772 - 5.34224 = -3.36452) After searching for an “evolutionary pattern” we will determine the variation between successive slopes, which is given by the Ratio (R) between them, that is, P2/P1; P3/P2; P4/P3; P5/P4, and is the following: R1 = 1.62538 R2 = 1.62682 R3 = 1.61586 R4 = 1.61324 The above values differ from the Golden Number (1.61803), a number also called the golden number, the number of God, the extreme and average ratio, the golden ratio, the golden mean, the golden ratio and the divine ratio, by 0.45%; 0.54%; 0.13% and 0.30%, respectively. In turn, the average of the sum of the ratios is 1.62032. This value differs from the golden ratio by 0.14%. The results obtained allow us to postulate that Evolution follows a pattern that is a function of Information and the golden ratio, and that Life goes back to the origin of the Universe. (1)The last universal common ancestor (LUCA) is the putative common ancestral cell from which the three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya, originated. The complexity that LUCA is assumed to have does not give rise to affirming that it arose by “spontaneous generation”, it being valid to postulate the pre-existence of “seeds of life” prior to the emergence of LUCA; It is postulated that the origin of the “seeds of life” dates back to the moment when Matter arose in the Universe, that is, around thirteen thousand eight hundred million years. (2)“We find that the anatomical potential to produce and perceive sounds differentiated by their formants began at the latest by the time of our last common ancestor with Old World monkeys (Cercopithecoidea) about 27 Ma ago”; " Which way to the dawn of speech?: Reanalyzing half a century of debates and data in light of speech” (Science magazine) (3) The last change in the position of the hyoid bone in humans, which would have allowed access to the language that characterizes us, took place approximately two hundred and twenty thousand years ago, and its data is based on archaeological evidence and anthropological studies. There is no scientific source that records this change on an exact date. (4)Due to the exponential growth of information technologies, Ray Kurzweil postulates that a Technological Singularity will occur in the year 2045, at which time technological growth will be so rapid and so profound that it will be impossible to predict what its consequences will be. (5) It is the time between 1950 and 2045, the latter year in which Ray Kurzweil postulates that a Singularity will take place.

It's a hypothesis only.there is too much imagination . Not very convincing. if you are saying there's no god it is a fig of imagination there you are no different. These days scientist are behaving like any other dogmatic faith that what they are saying is absolute truth.. scientism

Its interesting that black holes mass is growing with the volume of space just like dark energy, but I thought only a small percentage of baryonic matter(although technically not I guess) are black holes. And if black holes cause dark energy? In what way does it cause the space around it to grow, and are any voids in the universe collapsing as they have less black holes?

The phrase "origin of life" may refer either to an event long ago, or it may also refer to a sequence of events that happen billions of times every single day ~ every day of every year. A theory as to the latter is directly verifiable by every lay individual on this earth, hence of immeasurable practical advantage to every being (not only to humans, but even to animals). But, sadly, what Nick and the entire science community target is the former.

Bullshit. People like Nick Lane study the chemistry, physics, thermodynamics involved in the origin of life. Robert Hazen studied mineral catalysis of biomolecules, Lee Cronin studies autocatalysis.....etc. There is no stubborness involved in these researchers or any of the others of whose work you've read nothing: Addy Pross, John Sutherland, Matthew Powner, Eric Smith, George Whitesides.... This is science. You can play with your invisible friends elsewhere.

I'm seeing RNA and DNA more archival. Kind of like my tooling files on my 3D printer. I'm more busy using the stuff I've printed than I am compiling code. So, in cells most of the real action is actually happening outside the DNA and RNA. This is very exciting with vast implications for biotech and medicine. Hopefully we will get some good coding in the future instead of the half-ass mRNA vaccines that only code for fragments of the pathogen, with predictably crap results.

In 1965, I entered UCL Medical School when biochemistry certainly wasn't as exciting as today. The Origin of Life was stuck in the nebulous "Primordial Soup". Watson and Crick had received the Nobel Prize in 1962 and the structure of DNA was a wonder to behold. We have come a long, long way in the subsequent almost 60 years.

This video makes a fair representation of previously ‘kicked around’ and examined theories about dark energy…. But what about Inversion Physics?? Chris appears to be unaware of this concept that springs from super-rotation data deep within our earth! This concept first found in geo-physics will likely lead to a clearer understanding of: 1) The gravity-induced spinor tendency in the fluid setting deep within our earth and other planets; 2) An immense number of possible fractal analogies in quantum mechanics from this original geophysics ‘inverted buoyancy’ super-rotation tensor analysis; 3) Importantly, assuming conservation of energy and momentum will be clarified as an ‘overall energy-density conserved fact’ - Then an amplification of space is needed to accommodate such a ‘constant energy density’ reality. The creation of such additional energy&space from the likes of ‘perpetual earthly rotations’ is capped by the inversion of the simplest integral as derived in the University of Surrey math proof of 2012. Bottom line: Inversion Physics conjectures contain great explanations for an accelerated expansion of our universe, the red shift, spinors, etc. UK Drs. Alessandro Torrielli and Simon Ruinsenaars are both familiar with the math foundation of this form of dark energy. (And listen to the Edward Teller's interview about attending an Einstein lecture in the early 1920s.). Again, very enjoyable video.

Whoa, congrats on the amino acid synthesis! Especially cysteine, which I've read is notoriously hard to produce but (as you also say) massively important for catalysis. This seems like a huge blow to the cyanosulfidic theory, if cyanides are no longer necessary and you can really achieve this in a one-pot system

A set of questions I wish I could ask is: has recent work and understanding of metabolomes, and related multi-omics, provided insight into proto-metabollism? Are there certain extant organisms which might be good models for the work you are doing, and where work on their metabolomes could drive your research forward? What tools coming out of metabolome research seem promising for your work?
