What is the bit called that you bored out the pilot hole with? What is the size? Thanks!
We need an update on this, this is by far the coolest bbq smoker!
What type of update are looking for???
@@fullsteamaheadbbq what happened to it? Is still working? Can we add a whistle to another smoker or it needs a special system to allow it to whistle? I will add a small wood whistle and try it
Oh it’s still I’m working condition I’ve just not taken it out lately I’ve got another smoker inside a closed in trailer that I use mainly. I’ll try and video next time I bring it out to bbq
The whistle is operated by a tube boiler I built inside the firebox
A baby owl hooter
Perfect! All the spec's I was after! Thanks!
What a pro!!! Well done!!!
God has given you a wonderful gift. This is the best smoker I've ever seen. Do you have plans that you would be willing to sell for it? Thanks from Georgia
Really complex task. How many days did you last from beggining to finish?
Hey I just got mine in the mail. How did you rig those? I bought 2. One for me and a friend.
awesome information thank you very much. How would you upscale this to make a bigger one? Say 3 times the size?
You sir are so talented. Amazing videos, thank you for sharing your skills.
Wow awesome skill set!
Now, that's what I call a Homemade Steam Whistle!
Lovely whistle. Could you tell me what solder you used ? I though silver solder was used on steam whistles but it's looks like tin on the video seeing how easily you bent it, could it be soft solder ?
Truly a work of art! Great job!
Absolutely fabulous work! You have the rare gift of vision of your projects end AND the ability and skills to make it happen.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! I wonder how small I can make one of these. XD
I am going to attempt to make one that is about 2" high. I will post to my youtube channel if I am successful.Good luck with yours..
@@FredMiller thanks a lot!
I miss working on a lathe my grandfather taught me on a 1930's type belt driven
Where did you purchase the gig pole and gig?

Do you sell the project with detailed drawings of this whistle?
Thanks it help a lot. Enjoyed watch your video. Keep up the good work.
This is the best and coolest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I love steam power and I love BBQ, so if I were to build a BBQ pit that exactly how I would do it.
Loved it, now you have to build a steam boat whistle,,, deep throat sound. Luv em. thx
FL. Panhandle in the gulf
Where is this???
Great great work.
Great job! Been waiting for someone to post something like this. Very much enjoyed. We have a local steam railroad and I have wanted to answer the whistle for years. One of these day I will.
I throughly enjoy, thanks for sharing did you every get the 3 chime built, I love BBQ had some pull pork this evening.
that was real good work I don't have that skill but how much would you sell me one of those whistle I'm a disable veteran but I would to buy one please thank you sir
How much would you charge for a bbq smoker trailer like this.
eleventeen
More info on this setup. Ive got to have one.
That's about the best I've ever seen. And I admire your faith and giving Him the glory.
Coolest smoker I've seen!
So AWESOME!! I found this as I was looking at steam whistles. You are an inspiration for me to want to build a cooker and steam whistle. Thank you
Very cool! I have a Chinese (grizzly) lathe that can't cut threads to save it's life, but I'll attempt making a whistle soon. What about a 3 chime? How do you think it would be most practical going about 3 tuned chambers, or would it be easier to make 3 separate whistles? Thanks again! That free hand end nut was perfect!
+Hvguy I have attempted a three chime whistle and have looked at an original three chime train whistle. I tried to make a small version of the three chime whistle but it is very hard to seal off each chamber inside the brass tube for each chime to sound off correctly. I may attempt it again some time but I am pleased with the sound I get from this single tone whistle and really not sure if my train grill has enough steam to sound off the three chime????
lol, I could see that as being a problem. Maybe just make 3 separate chimes and plumb them individually except make them 1 or 2 octaves apart. Any idea on any trick to figuring out the tone and octave before making it? (sorry for the late reply, I never get on here)
Glad the video helped you out in making a whistle, I'd love to see your finished Train grill when completed :) Just be careful with making the boiler, steam pressure is very dangerous.
+fullsteamaheadbbq Good Morning, how much would you charge to build one for me? I don't have the equipment to do it myself. Thank You, Nicholas
+milesbennetdyson Fylum I made this whistle for my train grill, and only made this video to help those who have the capability and a lathe to make one.
Great camera work and editing...I have all the tools you used in the video. I also have the exact same tank as shown. My 15"gauge locomotive is just about ready for a whistle. Thanks for all the time you put into this project!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool. The wagon is built like a tank, it will last him many years to come. :)
Yes, build from aluminum and stainless steel except for the wheels which were bought, I'm hoping it will last years, I have many memories of playing with a red wagon as a child, don't know what went with our red wagon? maybe rusted away?
How to make a steam whistle if you possess a degree in engineering would be more apt
That, was really cool. Thanks for filming and sharing!
ok that's just awesome I love the idea god bless!!
