Sun (UV rays) kills bacteria so maybe if u let it dry in the sun, it may have deactivated it. Also, i cant remember if it is BT or if it is with nematodes but i believe pump sprayers are bad for one of them (i think it might be the nematodes so it might not be applicable) but definitely dont let it dry in the sun. Maybe u can spray it and then put it away wet?
I think I will try that next time and report back. Thank you for watching!!
Thanks for saving us from the same results!😊

@@LoverboyLoverboy-o7n you would need to contact the person who sells these. Info in the video
Have been using Oxalic and Glycerine soaked strips for the last couple of years and have excellent results. These are the ones used in NZ and bought from Beequip based over there. There are lots of useful videos by that company with many comments from professional Apiarist. What works well in addition is getting rid of smokers when attending hives and spraying on 1-1 sugar with water with essential oils emulsified in using blender. This makes bees clean each other with the added bonus of mites dropping off. SEGREGATION is key along with spraying anti viral spray on gloves and tools between each hive. It helps too to spray hive inner surfaces when inspecting hives to eake out all areas. In addition using OA by smoking stops build up ever happening. Have spent two years developing segregation device which stops all flying intruders entering hives including robbing bees and floating drones. All this does is bring in line tecniques used in all other farming practices, be it crops or animals. The bee world seems to somehow think it's immune to following these essential basic common sense practices, so it is no wonder mortality is so high!!!
Great info

Ok for use in high temps?
Yes, in the video he does advise that if it is super humid it can cause a faster release and to be aware of that.
Foreigners doing this decade now.Oa makes small clusters ..ill stick with bees that use their own devices but this could help some people.
Can you give me more information on how OA makes small clusters?

" VarroxSan is recommended for every 2.5 brood frames covered with bees." tinyurl.com/24qf6we3
This sounds like a commercial version of what Randy Oliver was doing. Also New Zealand bee keeper's have been making these for years.
You are correct for the most part, with a few distinctions. This is the only Extended Release Oxalic Acid treatment that has passed the US's EPA approval process for use in beehives. Also from what I understand the percentage of OA is different in this treatment method and actually has a patented slow release substance. The Randy Oliver's version, is an off label use that technically isn't legal for others that don't have the experimental permitting that he does. I have no idea how it compares to products in New Zealand.
Dave spoke at our local bee club meeting last month. I'm very excited to get this.
I am glad to see extended release oa being Epa approved
10 years to late. old news.
Not about this product. This is brand new in the US as of the date this video was filmed
I used the apiguard on a 2 deep hive. My queen stopped laying and I had no brood. It's been 2 weeks and finally I am getting uncapped brood. I didn't treat this week because of high temps. Should I treat half dose next week when temps are cooler and then half 7 days layer so hopefully queen doesn't stop laying? I'm afraid my hive is going to be weak before winter.
Hey @Jenjen2044! Apiguard can definitely cause a queen to stop laying for a bit especially if temps are high and you use a full dose. A brood break this time of year is actually good to help reduce your mite numbers anyway. However now that the brood break is over you need to choose a treatment method that is not as temperature dependent as Apiguard. You can use the following tool to help you decide on that: honeybeehealthcoalition.org/varroatool/ I personally would choose Oxalic Acid Vapor if you have access to a vaporizer. If you don't, get with your local bee club and they may have the supplies to help you get started with that. If that isn't an option you can always go with the very effective Oxalic Acid Dribble. You can find out more on that by checking our Randy Oliver's page at: scientificbeekeeping.com/oxalic-acid-treatment-table/ You could also try out these new strips that this video is about. If you have any other questions or would like to speak more in depth you can always email me at BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping@gmail.com
@BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping Thank you! I do have the vapor. How many times should I use the vapor? I have seen people doing it every week, every other week....and how long do I do this? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm first year beekeeper.
@@jenjen2044 there are different opinions but most agree on something similar to 4 treatments 5 days apart
Would love to be able to try these in california
The spokesperson expected approval in CA to be coming in a week or so. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy some of my other videos!
I personally Believe they are 100% better then the synthetic or many of the hard treatments. They look to be a great product if you have a few hives. But honestly from what I have seen for me they cost to much and you have to use to many of them. Thanks for sharing your time with us, Blessed Days...
Now that there is Epa approval I hope to see some competition to bring the prices down

Thanks! Greetings from The Netherlands!
Greetings! I wonder how expensive it would be to trade honey!?!?
Seems any brand of BT would work.
Might want to do your research on that. What I read says otherwise, but ultimately it is up the the individual beekeeper and whether they are willing to risk their comb to find out. Might make for a good experiment. However I will say, just from an economical standpoint, 1 pound of powder for $26 is far less expensive than any other form I think you can find in the farm and garden. 1 Pound of dry BT will make more than 100 gallons for $26 and the powder is good for years... most BT you find in farm and garden is BTk (which is not certified for Wax moth) where as BTa is, and it is already premixed and you will pay between $10 and $20 for less than a gallon. And the shelf life is not years. But I would love to hear back about others that have used different strains of BT to see if it actually works.

so whats the trick to reading the production date from the lot number?
I put it in the description of the video, but reposting it here, I will also pin it to the first comment to make it easier to find. 🔥🔥WARNING🔥🔥: There is a LOT of old product out there. Before ordering any of this from any vendor, please call them to get the lot number and determine the production date of the Xentari. You can determine the production date of Xentari by doing the following: 1. (First 3 number of Lot number) - 249 = Months since January of 2015 2. Then find a date calculator and add "Months since January of 2015" number to 1/1/2015 and you will have your production date. For example, if the Lot# is 332: 332 - 249 = 83. 83 months after 1/1/2015 means the production date is December of 2021. This was confirmed with the producer of the product. According to what I have read on Reddit forums this product IF stored at optimal conditions has a "Retest date" of 3 years after the production date... so that could be considered its expiration date of sorts. I have heard of people saying this product if stored properly is good for anywhere from 3 to 10 years.... so it is hard to say.
@@BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping I must be missing something. I see all kinds of review videos in the play list but I don't see another one on BT
@@larrylosciale9656 I am a bit confused also... you were asking how to determine the date of production based on Lot# correct? This isn't a chemical. This is a bacteria that specifically targets this type of moth. It is a certified organic treatment of comb. How do you preserve your drawn comb?

Very interesting. I have never tried that, but heard that in those containers unless they are air tight the moths will still get in. Are these the type you can get from Walmart etc? I would love to set up a test situation.

Hello from Kajun Homestead just found your channel.
Welcome! Hope you enjoy the content
As I watched you put the frame rests under the hive stand, I realized your stand is on a tabletop. I think it would be time consuming to get down on the ground and look for the rod under the hive to hang the frame rests on. Especially in a tall grass yard. It also would be just as hard to find them the next time I wanted to work the hive. If I had the stand, I would just put the two frame rests on top of the hive when I finished with them. Then, they are ready to go when you lift the hive lid. Much faster than bending down to look under the hive. If you are worried about them falling off the hive top, simply put them under the brick or stone almost every beekeeper has on the hive to weight the lid down.
They aren't just under the stand they are securely attached to the spacer rod just below the hive. Very easy to locate, remove and replace. I should have made that more clear.
I understood the smell of banana to emulate the attack/alert phenomenon of honey bees... Did you get this nutrition info from RUclips or is it well founded? I have seen it on other channels recently and I'm wondering if it's a suckers trend. Best wishes. I hope all is well

So why waste the time too cut handles/grips if u using the ergonomic handles.. kinda feels like a waste of time
Hey @Chillibeanz74, the boxes come from most companies with the cut handles/grips already done. The ergonomic handles are added for those that find them needed or useful. So technically there is no wasted time as you get the built in handles no matter where you order them from. Now if you were making your own equipment, I agree, you should pick one or the other.
