so I basically did a similar thing when I grew the Java ferns emersed the main difference here is you want a drainage layer at the bottom of the container. As for soil, I would just use miracle grow potting mix it works the best and has no mold problems.

This tank has been up for a few months and it was time to give it a new look. I wanted to use a stone that was easily accessible but still gave a nice mountainy look, so I landed on Seiryu stone.

Just my .02 from watching the "big channels". I would of love to watched you actually clean, build, and plant that tank. Also some sped up B roll of you doing the water changes, and plant growth over the 2 week cycle would of been cool also. Looks like a fun little set up though!

tip, if u wanna maintain that color in the colony you might need to take out any dull looking shrimps, as after a while they will start reverting back to their wild colors and high-quality foods will accentuate their colors as well as a varied diet. Kubotai rasboras, neon rasboras, or another micro rasbora would look great, considering their size you could do 10+ since you have adequate plants. A dwarf crayfish could be a cool centerpiece as it is peaceful, and in most cases only eat shrimp that are on their way out. As the plants growout the baby shrimps will have enough space to not be eaten.
Yea after they interbreed for a while you can get some color variation but I’m not too worryed about it, I was thinking maybe a bamboo shrimp as a center piece let me know if you want to see that
@@MrOzzTheMan definitely, or a vampire shrimp pretty similar. If u had enough food u could do like 3 bamboo and 1 vampire. It would be cool to see anything in that tank tho.

What light would you recommend?
Most full spectrum hydroponic lights should work .I can’t remember the exact model I used but it’s similar to this Osunby LED Grow Light 75W
