Can’t help but think of Shadow the hedgehog with the last one. At the beginning, he had hope, and joy. After the events of the Ark, Shadow hated humanity, and was left with grief, and emotional and psychological scars from the tragedy he’d witnessed: Maria dying and Gerald being used as a pawn, only to be executed. It was no wonder he’d wanted to destroy the world at one point.
