To participate in cheerleading (especially allstar) you must have good grades because like any other sport, they don't want you in their gym if you are failing in school. You have to show your report card to the coach every quarter and you must act like a mature adult at all times. I'm not sure if high school cheerleaders are mature but I promise you that allstar cheerleaders are some of the most mature teenage athletes there are. Cheer has actually taught me how to be responsible, polite, mature, and organized. Cheerleading uniforms aren't "slutty" either. A gymnast wears very revealing leotards and I don't see anyone calling them sluts. The clips in this video are very bad examples of what cheerleading really is, real cheer is much more difficult than these clips. Please, watch a Cali Smoed or a Top Gun large coed routine from this year, those teams are the perfect example of hard work and dedication. I'm positive you think I'm just a butt hurt cheerleader, but I just want to get the point that cheerleaders aren't how they are in the movies, stupid and desperate.

i am on an allstar team and i know at least 30 girls and guys that have gotten scholarships from cheer

Um cheerleaders compete regularly and there is first second third and fourth place, so yes there are winners.
