Hello all, welcome to the channel! As you may have guessed, my name is Tyler.
I camp constantly, and live and breathe for the outdoors. I am always testing out new gear and exploring new places (in beautiful Muskoka, ON) I am always looking for the next adventure! Come join me as I go canoeing, hot tenting, hiking, cowboy camping, tarp sheltering, and bushcrafting to name a few.
Have questions? Don't hesitate to ask. I love helping people out who are new to camping (or experienced). If you're very shy and don't want to post on the comment section, then shoot me an email. I honestly don't mind and I am not going to judge you for your questions. All of us adventurers had to start somewhere too.
Thanks for popping by. Sit back and watch a few episodes.
Adventure awaits folks.

If you don't want to spend any money, hobo stoves are a great option limited only by your Imagination. ruclips.net/user/shortsXMVvc1iH_fg
Asked about this stove in one of your other videos. This answered my questions. 👍🍻🇨🇦
Glad I could help!
How is the stability of the three legged stove ? Was thinking of having cast iron pans on top and curious of stability. Thanks Would ya buy that stove again ?
It's honestly the most stable stove I have used to date. Better than my four legged stoves of the past. Absolutely no issues with cooking on top. Definitely would buy again, but around the 600 mark is a bit pricey.
@@tentingWTthank you for that info
Your videos are very well made. Love watching them 👍🇨🇦🍻
Thank you my friend. Slowly learning the ins and outs of video editing! Cheers.
I loved using this tent last winter, and I have a couple videos on my channel using it. I set it up with a Winnerwell titanium fastfold and a hammock and it worked beautifully. Having the hammock really allows you to stay in the warmth when you have the stove running. That being said, I'm glad you set it up without the hammock as I want to switch to using the cot, so I got to see how everything would fit in there. Great video, keep it up!
Thank you! I'll check out your videos then, as I want to use a hammock in it this year lol. With my set up I use little battery fan on the ridge to help push the warm air back down. Works very well! Cheers!
Great video, I have this stove I would like to put it in a 3 person flip ice hut to use just for camping. The front area “ahead of the tub” is roughly 5 x 5 feet. The total hut dimension is 7W x 10L. Is the 5x5 area to small for this stove. The specific hut I am interested in is the Otter x over resort. I would like a flip style because it is faster than hub to put up and it can be completely self contained in the spot ready for the next time. I wouldn’t have to find a spot in my shed. I am just camping in my backyard so weight is not an issue. What is your opinion of using a large flip hut like the otter as a hot tent? Thanks Mike
Hey Mike! Honestly speaking, I have never used a fish hut as a camping tent. I have always wanted to, but the price of them has stopped me from purchasing one. That being said, looking at pictures of the otter, that 5x5 area would be perfectly fine for this stove. I would 100 percent consider putting a fiberglass fireproof mat below the stove though, as falling coals is a common occurrence. I didn't see a stove jack however, either I missed something or you are planning on putting one in or elbowing out a window? I think it's a great idea, keep me posted on how it works out for you! Cheers, and thanks for messaging!
@ Thanks for your advice, and yes I will let you know how it goes.
@63rml you are quite welcome. Good luck!

Definitely one of my favorite gifts from Nicole! 😀
Thanks for the video.
My pleasure!
I see you like to work at my pace. Cool.
Gotta love winter camping. I'm excited about this upcoming season!
@@tentingWT It seems to me that Winter camping has to be the best because there are no insects and very few people plus you can cool down easily by stepping outside. Hot tents and small lightweight wood stoves make all the difference in comfort. In the Summer you can't hardly cool off. It may be very hot in the tent but stepping outside fixes that quickly in the Winter like I already mentioned.
@@donolinger6904 I completely agree. Food storage is also pretty relaxed compared to the other seasons as well. Like you say, with the correct gear you can be way more comfortable than any other season!
Thanks for uploading this video, I hope you have solved the issues with your stove. A few months ago I bought the Dweller 2 stove, and I don't know if Pomoly has changed the materials used or what, but I haven't had the issued you presented. I bent the lever for the lower damper, because I noticed it was closer to the top than the bottom, and I had never had it stuck. Also, the door handle doesn't get stuck, to the point I can operate it bare hand. Additionally, I noticed my stove changed color evenly, like some light copper tone. I really like the stove, but I do understand that your experience was not the same, as I said before, I really hope you have solved the issues you had. All the best from Chile.
Unfortunately, the problems were never solved for me. I do really like the design and I am happy that others are having better luck than myself. I will be trying out a winnerwell woodlander this season, hopefully I have better luck! Thanks for watching and commenting! I always like to hear other people's thoughts and experiences with gear. Cheers!
@@tentingWT Hello, yeah the winnerwell woodlander is a very good stove, I was considering buying that one, but then I came across the Dweller 2, and bought the Dweller based on its design. It's a shame the issues weren't fixed, as I mentioned, I noticed the draft lever near the ash pan was closer to the top than to the bottom, and I used a bit of pressure with my hand, in order to leave it centered. That seems to have helped, and I can move it freely. I hope the Winnerwell performs without problems, as you said, you don't want to be out on a remote area during winter and having your stove dying on you. I hope everything's going well.
It's easy to "hot tent" with a tent big enough to strap to your backpack; if you have the smarts, knowledge, physical strength and mental stamina. Many homeless people who need to sleep (these lazy fuckers!) often have to "move along", as the police often say, when daylight happens. And I've seen stupid videos of fake-survivalists who manage to find some place far enough in the woods where they can cut down small trees, or saw off their branches, without getting arrested by the Park Patrol police. One numbskull even admitted to pre-stacking firewood and food the day before he made the video. Very lame IMHO. Yes, even capital-C assholes like me can have a humble opinion, because I've been involuntarily homeless. And to you RINOs and your like; being homeless is a lot more difficult than be allowed to have a job, and I've met people who have had middle class paying jobs who couldn't afford a house. You can take your "Onigris Tegimen hot tent" and make some beer money for your efforts. I'd rather spend my valuable time fighting riot control police officers when they want to break up a peace rally. Violence is tax-payer funded. Peace is something you have to urn (sic) by bravery and endurance.
About to use mine next week. It wont be cold but still excited
Wicked! Are you using a hammock with your set up or using poles like a wall style?
Dome x6 pro leaking, now stoves falling apart, What's next from pomoly?
Well that's terrible news. I was looking at the x6 for this season. Perhaps I'll look at something else lol
@@tentingWTmy x4 pro has not leaked and have tested the snot out of it. Very nice tent
What is your fire mat made out of?
It's fiberglass cloth covered in high heat silicone . It works very well, although I have had hot coals scorch the ground below the mat before.
Is that something you can buy? Or did you make your own. And is that what those are meant for? Do you have a link to them? Thanks for your reply! Loved the video, I am going to get one of those solo campfire stoves for my canoe tripping
@@John-vi4ys I purchased mine from Amazon. The one I have is no longer being made, but if you search "solo stove fire mat" on Amazon a few really nice ones come up. They are only 20-30 bucks Canadian, and totally worth the money. I have yet to destroy mine in all the trips I have taken. Thanks for watching! I really love my solo stove, and I think you will too. I take mine camping all the time. Let me know how it works out for you!
Try wood pellets remember to put 3 starters around the edge fill to a half inch below the gasser holes will burn 50 mins enough to get dinner done 5min rolling boil in pot with lid have an old hubcaps I use as heat catcher/reflector when I use it as camp fire , Nb if you add pellets onto of pellet coals it smothers the fire and smokes. That's when it start top feeding real wood to it from the top .the pellets are great to cook with no feeding once the become hot embers sit the one inch thick wood to it will burn bright❤
Thanks, I'll try that!
I would have liked to see that canoe trip and the fight against the wind. You should try to get your hands on a cheap go-pro and mount it to the canoe.
I agree, it would have been a good video. I am hoping to get my hands on one soon. I'd like to do a few trips this fall, white water included!
Ask and you will receive! Nicole bought me one for my birthday this year, with all the mounts. I will definitely be using it for many canoe trips next season!
@@tentingWT Awesome! Now I don't want to sound mean, but I wish you a lot of wind next year so you get a chance to make that video. 😆
@Drakker hahahaha, ya don't worry. That section is always windy as heck. I'll be sure to visit it again next season 🤣
Good to see a new video. Love that area…camping in Dorset for a week starting tomorrow. 🍻🇨🇦👍
Awesome! Thanks as always for watching. Enjoy, Dorset has some awesome camping.
I paid $120 for a -15 sleeping bag and I camp with it all year round.
Ooof! Do you find it too hot in the summer?
Nice job
Thank you!
thanks for vid mate :)
Thanks for watching!
8 months later, any update?
I was going to do one more video this winter as a follow up, but I'll spoil it for you! Unfortunately, the dampener and handle constantly need adjusting. It's just a problem with the expansion of the stove, there is no permanent fix. On a positive note, I have not had to adjust any other bolt on the unit (it was just a fluke that it fell apart during shipping. It must have been a Friday stove lol) Pomoly was prompt with their replies and they have fantastic customer service but other than advice and suggestions, there was nothing they could do for me. I have a love hate with this stove. It burns really well and is absolutely gorgeous to look at, but I am tired of having to adjust it during and after every night out. It is up to the user to decide if it's worth it to them. For me, I will sell it and try a newer model this season to see if there are any design improvements. Thanks for messaging!
@@tentingWT That's a shame. Thanks for documenting it. It sounds like all the first gen dwellers don't have problems? I wonder what they changed for 2.0 and 3.0 Amazon US has them for USD $199. Mine comes in a week. Fingers crossed I guess?
@@daveybphotography from all the feedback I've had from other users, I think you'll be okay. I've just gotten myself a quirky stove. There is a lot to like about the stove itself. Let me know how it works out for you!

I'd love to get your feedback when you have a chance to test it out. I'll be getting a winnerwell woodlander for this upcoming season. Can't wait!
Is the sheath clip stainless steel?
I can't say for certain, but I would hazard a guess and say no. It is coated very well in any case. I don't see corrosion being an issue.
@@tentingWT I was worried because Japan, where I live, has very high humidity.
I honestly don't think it would be!
@@tentingWT Thank you for your reply. I want to use the knife for a long time, so I was wondering about it.
You're welcome! Always dry it before putting it away after every trip or you will get slight corrosion on the blade. Nothing to be concerned about though, any surface rust usually comes off with a polish
I use an electric fence!
I see many people do that now. How heavy is it?
Don't add sticks passed the top secondary combustion holes. If you don't there's more soot, smoke, and the stove won't burn properly.
If you can get your hands on one , japanese maker solotour makes a stainless stove that is almost identical ( large front loading window ) except that it disassembles flat and is about 1/4 the price , just sayin
I'll keep my eyes open for sure. I'll be in the market for a few new stoves for next season.
I can't find these anywhere anymore. Perhaps they got sued by Helinox? Almost identical design, probably got a cease and desist order
You know I think you may be onto something. After reading your comment I searched as well. I can't even find mention of it on OneTigris's website, which is odd. I'll have to keep my eyes open to see if they appear again. That's too bad, it is a really great product!
The Scandi is good for carving. For anything beyond carving it is too fragile. The modified Scandi edge reinforces and improves the edge where it is more durable and less prone to rolling, chipping and dulling. I prefer a modified Scandi for general camp and field use. Mine is a great knife.
Any experience with the gstove? I have a small and larger tents which can use stoves....I am more inclined to the gstove for the smaller tent and Caminus M for bigger tent. They both seem to be solid. All edges are fully welded, not spot welding and no bolts or rivets. I seriously doubt these stainless steel stoves can last a long time under these high temp especially the ones use rivets and screws.... They are ridiculously expensive. They are happy to use materials that degrade in few years and make us buy again.
I haven't used anything from gstove as of yet, but I have owned a few winnerwells that are also fantastic quality. Maybe next season I will pick one up! Fully welded is the only way to go for sure.
@@tentingWT I was contemplating for winnerwell, but kind of concern about the opening on the stove top which may leak smoke or CO into the tent... I don't put cookware directly on open flame as it will blacken the bottom....
Admittedly, if you don't have a clean burn going then the winnerwells do tend to let a bit of smoke through the plate. (I mean a super dirty burn) I've been using it for two years and I can count on one hand how many times this has happened. Not perfect, but not terrible either. The removable plate is handy to make toast on. That's all I've got lol
Great review. I have the Luxe Megahorn but need more room.
Hey thanks for watching! I've been considering the Pomoly circle 6. Looks really decent for 300 bucks. And massive.
Bet you he's going to boil water and time it.

I felt the same way,it feels smaller then it should seem.....gittin the Cozshack soon.love onetigris. Great vid.
Right!? Something about it makes it feel small, even though it's actually massive. Maybe it's just too narrow. I love OneTigris as well, great affordable gear. Thanks for watching!
@@tentingWThave you seent the cozshack yet?need ta ifn ya havent.....
Nice video 😊
Thank you very much!
was looking for a canvas tent on the jungle site, aside from lack of floor, it's a great looking tent, i have a nylon tent for summer. i'm planning a bike trip to start in a few months, i wanna get out fast as a last hurrah. ebike, even when i was in perfect shape i'd have needed a motor for the crap i wanna cart, single wheel trailer and a solar panel kit, if i stay for two days i can even run a pi and portable monitor while charging. i would NEVER trust a modern nylon tent to keep warm and not burn down with a campstove fire. even if it wasn't a decent tent, this is only new scotland, pretty warm. your note about bears makes me think that a portable stereo with black metal is a good idea.
Thanks so much for watching! It is a fantastic tent. Still my favorite by far. I have a few nylon hot tents and though I have never had an issue with them, they still make me feel uneasy at times with a stove in them. I think OneTigris has come out with a few smaller canvas tents since this video that would be more travel friendly, but much smaller. I hope you get out on your trip!
@@tentingWT landlord's got all the paperwork to get these 4 units emptied for complete reno... throwing 2thou and 3 months rent at us... compared to hitchhiking across canada in the late 80's with 400 bucks, this'll be a breeze. it does mean i do it now or never.
A real life video…. Nobody’s perfect 👍🇨🇦
Perfectly imperfect maybe. I make a lot of mistakes camping, but it always makes it interesting lol
The large mesh opening was likely what let the moisture out. And cold in
It definitely isn't going to keep the rain out! Lol
Well done video, appreciate the gear info….. cheers from Belleville Ont
Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
Keep grinding.👍
Always!
I payed way less for mine. I hope you didn’t order directly from tops. They are about 30% higher than those sold through the retailers. Esee is the same way. It’s a weird thing but they want you buying through the retailers so they way overcharge you if you buy direct. Amazon is almost always the cheapest.
I’m pretty happy with mine with one exception. The Shango notch is a joke. I sharpened to whole spine and that took care of that issue. And you’re right the tip also works ok. By grinding the whole spine I can use it to strip cedar bark.
Ya I actually ordered from Amazon. The price has since dropped to 170.00 CAD, so maybe the purchase during covid was an unwise decision. Either way, live and learn I suppose lol I may still modify mine when I have the time to turn it into a true scandi grind, but I feel like the blade thickness is just too much for me. To each their own! Thanks for watching and commenting!
This makes me miss summer!
Ya me too!
Unfortunate, but we all learned a valuable lesson ;-)
Lol, worth it!
video's way too bright
Weird, it looked fine on my end. Thanks for your input! Maybe I can edit it down a bit
Hi, thank you for the review, when did you buy the stove? I'm asking because the Dweller 3 is currently selling for USD535 and the Dweller 2 for USD499 (the price includes shipping with DHL) I've watch other reviews and apparently the problem with the damper has been fixed on the newest version (3.0). Thanks for sharing your experience, all the best from Chile.
No problems! The stove was purchased in August 2023. I definitely have the original dweller version. I have seen the 2.0 selling from amazon.ca for 610.00 CAD. Thank you very much for watching!
@@tentingWT oh I see it was CAD600 I thought you bought it for USD600. I'm thinking about buying the Dweller 2.0 or 3.0 I've been logging in Pomoly's website daily and I have so far uss60 on discount by doing that Xd plus some discount codes they gave me. I live in Chile, so it's summer time for us right now. I'll be buying the stove by the end of April I think.
@@sydgerald I do really like the stove. I can live with the issues it has, but if the 3.0 fixes it then I would 100 percent go for it!
@@tentingWT I totally agree with you. What I like about 2.0 and 3.0 is that they moved the pipe to the side, so you get more cooking space. As far as the door handle and damper, some reviewers say it had improved. Apparently with the titanium version it doesn't happen, but they're too expensive for me. Having said that, I really like the design of the Dweller, I do car camping and I have a Pomoly dome tent, so I don't mind the bulk, but for sure the Dweller looks good.
I've been asking for months. There has to be reason why tents don't have floors anymore. Could somebody tell me why. I don't understand why nobody will answer me
There are a few reasons to this madness! The main and most overlooked when it comes to hot tents not having floors is durability. Most people when hot tenting are usually pitching on snow/ice and frozen ground. Ice and solid ground are VERY unforgiving on any type of material, especially on a floor that has high traffic. Constant walking, cot placement, camping equipment, ETC will quickly deteriorate the fabric of a floor. There would be holes in no time flat. When using stoves, coals will inevitably fall out and also burn through your floor. Even if you are using a "fireproof" mat under your stove, the heat from the coals can still transfer through the mat and melt the fabric. They are fireproof yes, but not heat proof! Water, mud and wood debris would also be a gigantic pain in the butt to clean out of your tent after every trip. Wood is very messy! That being said there are still a few hot tents out there such as the nature hike dome that offer an optional floor that you can zip in. These are getting increasingly rare though, as most manufacturers don't even bother anymore. If you are hot tenting in the winter as most do, a floor is redundant in most areas. There are no bugs in winter, so a perfectly sealed tent is not necessary. Hope this helps answer some why's for you!
I forgot to mention that floors can also freeze to the ground quite badly when it's cold out and you have it very warm inside.
Mine costs $105 (3 yrs. ago) incl. shipping. I love the knife. Sorry you didn't have a better experience with yours.
Canadian or American? As I use it more, it's slowly growing on me. It's just taking me a long time to get used to the weight in comparison to my other knives.
154cm or 1095?
