We love you Tante Lien. Walaupun kisah mu tidak banyak kami (masyarakat Indonesia) dengar. Walaupun tidak adanya apresiasi atau setidaknya dokumenter, interview atau apapun tentang mu. Sedih, ketika harus kembali ke Belanda dan merindukan segala hal tentang Indonesia. ❤️❤️❤️

Wieteke, je hebt gelijk het was oorlog. In oorlogstijd doen mensen vreemde dingen. Mijn moeder (1914)hate Japanners en hun producten. Terwijl zij tijdens de Bersiap werd beschermd door deze, eens vijand, de Japanners werden aangewezen als de nieuwe vrind door de geallieerden na de overgave. Ik ben van na de oorlog, echter ik begrijp haar. Het kwam goed met de eerste Japanse auto. Dat kolonialisme niet goed is besefte ze laat, zeer laat. Was het de koloniale propaganda door haar studie? Ik denk wel. Mijn oma (1891) besefte het beter. Vanaf haar tiende tot veertien naar school..... Waarom niet met zes? De weg naar school was 2 uur te paard en scholen waren van zes tot 12 uur open, tenminste in de dicht bijzijnde plaats, nu stad Boyolali. Weet je oma kon mee, toen wij in 1975 Indonesia bezochten, maar wilde beslist niet. "Het milieu waarin ik ben opgegroeid bestaat niet meer, gelukkig, Indonesia is vrij. Wat moet ik met neven en nichten die ik niet ken? Trouwens op de winter na ben ik hier gelukkig!" En dan te bedenken dat één van de voornamen van haar vader Winter betrof!?
