Why not point out all the pros and cons, and then let people decide what they prefer for their riding, now being utterly informed? This "partisan" stuff everywhere is not useful, in my opinion. So allow me to add some points: Zero: Use a lav mic. One: Cassette becomes heavier due to more big sprockets, so system weight difference becomes less of an argument. (side note: try rim brakes to lose 400g average :-P) Second: Never had a dropped chain. Try setting up correctly, do not use older SRAM, and/or install a chain dropper guard (4 grams, baby). Third: Shifting is not complicated. If you want it even easier, fine. But be aware that you have bigger jumps between your gears. Which, on longer rides in varying terrain (hills mixed with flats) is less than ideal. Fourth: Easier to clean than between two chain rings? Yes, I can see that. Not impossible to do though. Also, depends on terrain/use, how big of a point this might be for some. Fifth: I have no clue what you are on about here - power meters are available for two-by systems in a hot variety, including spider-based. Where is the benefit here in one-by? Re: Chainline/durability: You might want to research that one a bit more. I found that the chain line(s) are straighter with a well set-up two-by system, as the smaller/left front ring is ideally only used for the left-most 8 sprockets on the cassette, while the bigger/right front ring is only used with the right-most 7 or 8 sprockets in the back - otherwise you will have the SAME gear ratios there (overlap), which are not needed. With one-by, your chain will have to go to all twelve cogs in the back, meaning fully leaning left and fully right at times.
