I played some gigs there. The stage was wedge shaped, with too little space at the back for a proper drumkit so I had to set-up in front. It was the only time I ever played at the front.

I used to play for Bromford Colts! Great Erdington pub.

I remember back in 2003, I forgot to get off the 26 bus on Highfield road, and had to go to the Sportsman pub to ask for directions back to Alum Rock road - I was so scared as I was in year 7 and it was like my second day (Washwood Heath Secondary). A rough looking man gave me directions (looking back it was correct, he said go over the viaduct), but he sounded so drunk, I didn’t believe him. In the end I caught the 14 bus to town and then swung back home
